Falstaff Hotel Bistro was the height of excellence on Valentines Day Dinner. We were greeted by Chef Tristan and staff and were so pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and fantastic cuisine that we received that evening. It was a priceless evening and It led me to want to return as soon as possible and book into the hotel and once again have such a wonderful experience again. Chef Tristan a young and very much highly experienced Chef made sure that the dinner was indeed a celebration and experience that we will never forget. We had 5 courses and each and every one was superbly decorated and tasted fabulous from the Asparagus entree and Springbok starter to the Salmon main and the fabulous desserts, all of which were 5 star plus. Every part of the evening was special. Thank You Chef Tristan for making it such a memorable evening - what fantastic cuisine! We ventured to the Reception where the ladies there were very friendly and tried to assist us at all times especially when out taxi was delayed. We were impressed with the excellent services of the hotel even though it was pouring with rain that evening. My stay started out okay at this 4 star hotel, well situated in the Morningside area of town but my last 2 days were not okay on account of a problem with the hot water. After a long day just wanted to unwind and take a long bath, to my surprise there was no hot water. Well these things can happen I guess so I promptly told the reception about it so it could be fixed by the next day. In the morning...Still no hot water. I told the reception again, thinking that they would have the whole day again to fix it but upon returning to the hotel the problem was not resolved. The manager said that the maintenance crew had tried to fix it but fixed the wrong "thing", which means that they never went into any of the rooms to see if they had actually fixed it. They could not switch my room because it was the whole back block of the hotel and the only rooms left also didn't have hot water! I left in the morning with yet another cold shower. Sorry folks but this is unacceptable, even it it meant having someone work on it all night, it should have been fixed. Oh, and also food at the hotel restaurant takes 45 minutes to prepare! Order early! Safe in the room doesn't function either. Change to 2 stars...

If you like and prefer an Agatha Christie style hotel, I think Faircity Falstaff is exactly what you are looking for.||It is out of the city in a luxurious residential area, which is very dark and almost hard to find the entrance.||Then the rooms and furnitures are very oldish. Bath was not good, towels were smelling humidity.||All the air conditions are broken ( Because we have tried 3 different rooms ) and they are working as they like. Some of them are only heating, some of them are freezing and you have no control of these air conditions at all. It is by chance, what kind of air condition that you have to deal with?||I had to turn off my conditioner in my final room because it was workşng like a thunderstorm :(||I could not sleep till the morning because of the heat. When I open the windows, then the cars passing through makes a lot of noise. ||Breakfast was very poor and not tasty.||Anyway, it was a bad experience for me and it is impossible for me to recommend this...
