tashas Morningside — Restaurant in Gauteng

This Tasha’s is one of worst! I’m in Morningside every Friday and Saturday and because I love Tasha’s, the first choice is to go here, but the service and attitude from the staff at this branch is awful and ruins the entire experience. Most of the time something is wrong with my order as well! Waiters don’t smile, greet, are not attentive and the overall feel is that they hate their job! At first I thought they were having a bad day but it’s happened so many times now.

I went there yesterday (Saturday 29th) walked in and the waiter just looked at me, no hello, how can I help - nothing. I greeted and said can I please have a hazelnut latte to takeaway and he turned around, I then said oh with almond milk and he turned around again, I then please make sure it’s extra hot and he turned around - at no point did this man say anything and why not wait for someone to finish giving their order?! I stood there at the entrance for a good 5-10 minutes with no interaction from anyone. He then hands me my coffee, again no word, I asked for sugar and he handed it to me again - again loads of attitude and not a word, I stood there not knowing where to put the wrappers or the stirrer. I then realised my coffee was cold, so I asked someone to warm it, it was returned back to me and I suddenly I had my spoken word by a waiter who said, “you can’t feel the warmth through the cup” (what?!) I disputed it and said no it’s cold, they heated it up again, and low and behold it was returned to me lukewarm! I have a coffee every morning, I know when it’s not at the right temperature!!

There was no apology from anyone, nobody acknowledged me and the waiter who assisted me didn’t say a word and his attitude sucked! By this point I was upset and frustrated - I spoke to the waiter who assisted me and asked if he could be attentive next time, but his energy and attitude again was awful! There was no apology. I asked to speak to the manager who was standing behind the counter and someone said “the customer wants to speak to you” I told him how unhappy I was and that this is the sort of service I get every time I’m here - rude, obnoxious, unhelpful and unfriendly staff - he said thank you for the feedback, but I don’t think he understood this happens every single time!

Something is clearly wrong at this branch; I will never return again. I walked out and had no option but to throw...

Since the request for this review popped up on my feed...I will heed the call of the people (I'm kidding)...

I've avoided writing a review of this specific Tashas because I absolutely LOVE Tashas and everything it stands for...which is delicious food!!

First of, let me be honest about myself...as a customer I'm a pleasure because I very rarely complain and I'll accept whatever you give me even if it's gross...as a customer placing an order, I can sometimes be annoying because I often have specific requests like "could I have extra jam, but only strawberry"...which could be a big ask, but the truth is, it's not really.

I've been to this branch a number of times over the last 3 years and I've got to say I absolutely dislike it!! The three stars is simply in honor of the existing brand, but none at all for this specific branch!

I've always been disregarded when I enter, often made to feel out of place by the waiters for some reason, perhaps they can smell my reviewer scent. I've yet to be helped by a friendly and happy waiter, or actually have them pretend that they want me there.

This has unfortunately been the issue whether I was alone or with other people. Sadly this is a massive deal for me because I need to be comfortable!

My most recent visit which was last week was quite entertaining due to the fact that the waiters broke out into an argument right in front of me. While they definitely tried to keep it under wraps from the rest of the restaurant, they showed zero interest in pretending to be professional in front of me.

Let's move on to the food... I've never had a meal taste the same here more than once...so it's always a surprise! I ask for mint to be removed and I receive extra, I ask for a two cheese sandwich on sourdough with jam on the side and I'm told it's IMPOSSIBLE...as if I didn't order that every day for two months at the Hyde Park branch!

It's just not okay unfortunately...and while I'm well aware that there are many other people who would vouch for this restaurant...I'm just not one of them!

Maybe I've had bad diners luck here over and over and over -takes a breath- and over again... but whatever the case I think that they can and should do better!!

Disgusting service yet again from Tashas Morningside. A group of us girls arrived for dinner at 7pm- no one informed us that apparently they close at 6:30pm, and we were readily seated. We would have expected to be informed of this closing time, especially considering the time we arrived (7pm). We ordered dinner and noted from 7:45 that they were packing up all around us. This involved opening the door with freezing cold air streaming in, packing up all the chairs, extremely loud noise (waiters chatting and laughing hysterically) etc. Our waiter then rocked up at our table with the bill......we then asked what time they close only to be showed a sign that said 6:30pm. We immediately paid although that in itself took a while as this tashas is ridiculous in asking the client to calculate the tip separately to the rest of the bill as the waiter needs to charge it as such. I strongly suggest that you tell your staff to inform patrons before sitting down as this whole experience ruined our meal. Perhaps educating your staff on proper etiquette would also be wise- you dont pack up all tables in the manner they did without first chatting to the client nor do you just rock up with a bill and rudely shove a sign in their faces that the restaurant is closed. This whole situation could have been avoided by warning us upfront. All 4 of us agreed we will never return to...
