Club Como Morningside — Restaurant in Gauteng

Bad experience, upon arrival no one greeted us (all the waiters stood by the bar counter starring at us). Then I went over to ask for a table, they told me I needed to go to the reservation area to ask for a table (whole restaurant had 3 tables used at the time). Then we were seated by the window area my wife asked if she could move to closer to the inside as she does not want too much sun exposure (cosmetic reasons). They waitress asked some random guy at the bar and he said NO straight to our faces not even asking or giving us a reason. I went back to the reservation area to ask again and the lady told us it was not an issue as long as it doesn't have a reserve on it we can use it. After we were seated the same guy at the counter and the rest of the staff kept looking at us and making laughs and jokes. I starred them them for a good 2-3 min before he stopped. Service were shocking they changed our waiter 3 times and the last one that delivered my coffee wouldn't stop coughing and sniffing whiles taking our order. Worst experience ever. The whole setting of the restaurant is beautiful and all but they really need to train there staff for the price you paying you would expect well mannered and...

I had the absolute pleasure of dining twice at The Club Como, and it was an unforgettable experience. Warm ambiance and an inviting atmosphere that set the stage for a perfect evening.

What truly made my both visits exceptional was the impeccable service provided by the manager Thuli. She went above and beyond to ensure that every detail of my dining experience was flawless. Her attentiveness, professionalism, and warm hospitality made me feel truly valued. It’s a great pleasure to find a manager so dedicated, and Thuly excelled in every way.

The food was phenomenal, with every dish carefully crafted and bursting with flavor. From beautifully plated mains to the expertly prepared side dishes, each bite was a testament to the chef’s passion for excellence. Oh, and the wine that was kindly suggested greatly complemented the meal 😉🍷

Superb cuisine, outstanding service, and a truly welcoming atmosphere: a big thank you to Thuli and the entire team for making my visits so memorable. I will definitely be back soon!

My initial experience at Club Como was pretty good. This when the original A team of management were around. This being George, Nakita etc.... All since gone.......... More recently, in my humble opinion - the quality of the food has dropped significantly! The atmosphere remains good, and the waiters are absolutely consistently great! But the food in my opinion has definitely gone down. In particular at my last visit....... I had the misfortune to order the Open Chicken sandwich! It really was most disappointing. Too big, too messy, no discernible flavours, the chicken breasts over-cooked. All in all a sludgy mess. And horribly plated!

I brought this to Club Como's attention in an email to them on 7/2/24 - and Koketso the floor manager indicated - 'Our head chef, Chef Victor, is taking the necessary steps to figure out how the dish come out the way it did to you. And we make will make sure to give you an update on the outcome.'

Some 6 weeks later - nothing has been forthcoming!

If you are contemplating visiting Club Como - just a friendly heads up...........to steer clear of the Open...
