This is an excellent place to stay. Centrally located in Green Point - close to the water front, shopping centre and many cafes/restaurants/supermarkets nearby (within walking distance). The place itself is lovely, lots of small details really make this place very homey and cosy. The staff are amazing - especially Ntombi. Very helpful, welcoming and warm. The friendliest people, but not because they have to be but because that is how they are. Authentic and genuine.
I stayed in a shared room (3 beds) and was very lucky with my room mates. Very quiet, considerate and kind. The BIG is in a quiet residential area with a lovely pool. It’s a great place to relax, enjoy and get a good nights sleep. They have family dinners, which unfortunately I couldn’t take part in but they looked delicious and good value for money.
Breakfast is the same every morning (fresh fruits, cereal, yoghurt, toast, eggs). I couldn’t believe breakfast was included in the price and is really awesome!
I honestly loved how clean everything was (the room and bathrooms are cleaned every day). The bathroom in the shared room is amazing and the room itself is wonderfully decorated.
I had an excellent time. 10/10 and would come...
Read moreB.I.G Backpackers hit the mark in every department. Superb location (10 minutes’ walk from the V&A Waterfront, with an abundance of reliable restaurants in between), spotless rooms and largely helpful staff.
Each morning, a buffet breakfast was provided which we ate sitting in the sun. Although we didn’t use it, the hostel also had a pool and patio. We did, however, make use of the laundry service which was cheap and turned-around on the same day. The place was full, but really didn’t feel overcrowded. The reception was manned 24/7, so great from a security perspective and we felt safe wandering around the local neighbourhood. We used Uber and Bolt to get around town (10 minutes to Bo Kaap and the CBD / 15 minutes to Table Mountain National Park). If you fancy a jog, we would highly recommend the Park Run in Greenpoint.
Owing to a mix-up with room bookings, we moved from a comfortable double room (ideal for sock-fan) to a four-man dorm room for our final night. The dorm was cosy, but well kitted out with an en-suite bathroom and lockers for our stuff. A ceiling fan would not have gone...
Read moreWe stayed at THE BIG in the beginning and the end of our 4 weeks tour through Southern Africa and we enjoyed every minute of it. It’s the perfect place to relax after a long day of traveling and likewise to discover the buzz of CPT. We were a group of 3 friends and conveniently we shared a 3bed dorm which was spacious and felt more like a hotel room. Towels, safes and lockers, hairdryer, shampoo and bodywash and a complimentary bottle of water up on arrival are available. Price for value is unbeatable. Every morning a delicious breakfast is served, you can make your own eggs or indulge in plenty of fresh fruit yoghurt, delicious bread and spreads. They have an honesty bar & fridge and plenty of community space, indoor as well as outdoor. The team is extremely friendly, helpful and outgoing! And the location with only 10 minutes from the Waterfront or 30 minutes from Bree Street, is ideal for every Cape Town visitor. Can’t...
