Pelagus Guesthouse — Hotel in Overstrand Local Municipality

My family and I stayed for 1 night and thank god it was only one night because this is one of the most disgusting hotels I’ve ever stayed at. We went in with the intention that it would be clean as any basic hotel is even a 1 star hotel would be but no let’s just say Pelagus did not deliver. There were ants absolutely everywhere. We had trails of ants hundreds coming out of the walls, on tea cups, on plates. I put my Diet Coke filled cup on the table for 2 min and found 5 ants crawling inside. Even in the closed container of Cotten pads there were ants. There were ants on beds, in the books they provided, on every surface in the room. When we went down to tell management before checking out as there is no concierge during the night, we were told rudely that this was the season and weren’t even given an apology. My family and I traveled to the middle of the forest in west cape a day before and stayed at 3 other hotels/ lodges that were situated in the middle of the forest and no ants were present but NOO I guess Pelagus Guesthouse is different and Ants specifically choose their hotel. We stayed for one night and had to get up quite early to get to the shark cage diving in Gansbaai so we didn't really want the full breakfast before setting out to sea hence I can't comment on it. However they did open the kitchen early to accommodate us. The room was spacious and comfortable but we had issues with the WiFi - we had a much better connection in the lounge. ||||It's a short walk to the centre of town and the person who met us gave us a great recommendation for dinner (Lemonicious) and we also managed a run along the coastal path to which there is easy access.||||We couldn't use the pool (too cold!) but it would be...

I would like to thank Bronwyn and all the friendly and very helpful staff that made our stay so memorable. The room was perfect with everything you could need and more. Huge bath with separate shower including hair dryer and robes. Bar fridge full of goodies, queen size bed, ceiling fan and a great view over the courtyard. The swimming pool was awesome. Relaxing with a glass of wine, enjoying the sun. Breakfast that was inclusive...perfect. Coffee, juice , yogurt and cereal, fruits salad and so much more. Even safe secure parking.
