We were very excited about our visit to Hermanus, with high expectations fuelled by the wonderful images of Boutique Ocean View, and anticipation of seeing Southern Right whales from land. ||However, no image could convey the warmth and hospitality we received from Connie, Chris and their team shown to us from the moment we arrived to their final waves as we departed. Nor could any image convey the magic of listening to the waves crashing the rocks below the guesthouse as we lay in bed, or sat on our balcony transfixed by the view. We could only have dreamt of seeing whales breaching outside the fully glazed living space as we sipped wine and met new friends. Yet these, and all our our dreams and expectation for Hermanus were greatly exceeded on the first day of our arrival at Boutique Ocean Views. ||As an architect, i was greatly impressed with the quality and design ethos of Boutique Ocean Views. Every view corridor, every angle of the building has been carefully crafted to make the most of this stunning location, to maximise views and yet achieve privacy to each and every room - one of a very few buildings overhanging the ocean from the sea side o the famous Hermanus Cliff Walk. ||As a group of 4 we had 2 rooms Kwagga and Strelitza, each being unique both in design and view. All of the room are superb. You can decide to have direct ocean views from your bed and open plan layouts like Kwagga, or opt for a larger room such as Strelitza with a large seating area offering the views and the bed in a more conventional location - however with the best view from a w.c. than i have seen anywhere else in the world. All rooms have the amazing view and the fantastic design, it really does come down to small personal preferences, and all of our group were more than happy with their choices. ||Connie and Chris's wonderful hospitality is particularly highlighted during their fabulous breakfasts, which will no doubt become legendary over time. A huge variety of hot and cold offerings, from typical international and healthy options, to South African traditional recipes which are more than substantive to set you up for the day ahead.||If all of above was not enough to attract you to immediately encourage you to book a trip to Boutique Ocean View, I can share how Connie and Chris go above and beyond. During our 3 night stay we unfortunately had a medical emergency. Before realising the urgency we asked Connie for some advice on finding an optician in Hermanus. The staff here don't just give you a number, they insist in sorting your problem out for you. Connie secured my husband an emergency appointment with her optician, which in turn resulted in my husband being referred to a hospital and on an operating theatre within 2 hours, having emergency surgery. We will be forever grateful to Connie and the team for saving his eyesight. Just one example of how Boutique Ocean Views goes above and beyond all expectations.||We look forward to our return visit to this...
