Hotel 8 hours — Hotel in Seoul

Location: The location is very good at this hotel. It's convenient and some places are walkable: myeongdong, namsan tower, gyeongbokgung palace and the city hall station. There's also a few convenience stores: GS25, 7ELEVEN, olive Young and also twosome palace for coffee. We used the 6001 airport bus which is very close and I would recommend that than using the metro as interchange between stations can be very long especially with luggage.

Room: The room we had is very compact and didn't have windows so it did feel claustrophobic at times and couldn't tell if it's raining or not. It's not sound proof and I could usually hear a lot of things going on outside the room. I also wasn't a fan of the lighting in the room as it's quite dark. The bathroom is a wet room which I personally don't like, as everything just seems wet all the time. There's a mini fridge and a small table inside. It would benefit with some renovations.

Service: There's a water fountain, hot water, coffee machine and microwave outside in the communal area to use. There's also complimentary tea and some biscuits too. We used the laundry service which is a very decent price although the clothes went through a tumble dryer, it did come out with a slight dampness to it. Our rooms wasn't really cleaned on a daily basis, I think maybe just a quick dry of the bathroom floor and emptying of the bins. Towels were changed but sometimes they ran out of the big bath towels and we ended up having to use some smaller towers as an alternative The staff at the reception were really nice, polite and friendly. English is fine, I think one of them also spoke mandarin.

Overall, if you're looking for a convenient place to stay short term at a decent price it is good.if you can, maybe try to opt for a room with windows. I think daylight would make a...

If there was another room available in the surrounding area we would have left immediately. As soon as we stepped into the room we were overwhelmed with the smell of bleach to the point we could barely breath. As we continued our stay we could only guess that instead of actually cleaning the room, the staff just heavy stayed disinfectant between occupants. The floor was covered in dog hair, there were cobwebs along the walls and spiders in the corners. One wall had been recently damaged and scuffed and splattered with what appeared to be blood. ||The room was in need of total repair from furniture missing drawers, to toilet seat broken and hole in bathroom wall. The bed was covered in disgusting stained bed coverings which also has cigarette burn holes. There was evidence of prior smoking in our non smoking room as we found cigarette butts amount other trash behind our mattress. The cherry on top, which was just a minor inconvenience, was no tv connection in our room. Upon checkout, after having to wait for an attendant, we found he was so frazzled from his morning shift, we could only guess he had been dealing with other disgruntled guests already. ||This was by far the worst hotel experience my husband and I ever had and we request hotel 8 at other locations often. Yes this is a 3* hotel and we were not expecting 5* facilities or even a 24 hour concierge but basic human requirements were not even met. We had 6 rooms & 2 happened to be windowless. It's winter & the air con blows hot air. Request to change to cool air was not met, staff says open doors & sleep?! Huh? Are they mad? Then they gave us 2 pathetic fans after much request and after spending 1 night sleeping in fear with the doors opened! Lights were turned off at 11-ish despite counter saying operational from 7am-12am. Staff was uncaring and refused to turn on the lights for us when we were up early, we had to move around in the dark to make our coffee and using our mobile phones. Security is a major concern as anyone can walk up this single storey hotel. Elevator was not locked, stairs were opened for all.
