I hate to take away anything from the outstanding performers, but I would't recommend this show for anyone with social anxiety.
The show's writers and management seem to have decided to use psychological compliance measures to basically force clapping and enthusiasm at the penalty of being called out or even dragged up on stage by the performers. Encourage enthusiasm, I understand. But this wasn't that.
It basically felt like they were using the same fear-based gaslighting techniques used by religious organizations and militaries to brainwash, control, and then convince people they actually wanted to go long for the ride.
Also, they also make it basically impossible due to extreme social pressure, and extraordinarily strong frame, to refuse being pulled up on stage once you're singled out. They also say people can't leave the performance to go to the bathroom after the show starts (!).
The call outs, or being dragged on stage probably happen around 10-15 times during the performance.
Again, the performers are excellent, but unfortunately the fear of public embarrassment that they kept threatening or implying for me as a socially anxious person was an extreme detractor and I was happy when the...
Read moreWe braced one of the coldest (-16 Celsius) Seoul weathers to go watch this show in Myeongdong on December 22, 2022 and the show didn't disappoint. It was every bit creative, artistic, entertaining and engaging to watch for all ages including a teenager. The ensemble of five performers were highly musical and athletic, and seemed to genuinely enjoy working with one another. They involved audience participation and volunteers on the stage which was a lot of fun, but at one point they went a little too far by suggesting a volunteer passed gas on stage. I would advice Nanta from refraining from scenarios like these as it may be offensive to some viewer as well as participants. Other than that, the content of the show was very funny. Though the location is right off the main Myeongdong street, the directions we received from their main website could have been a little bit more clear with better signage on the building. The back roads took us to the side entrance of the "UNESCO house" building which was completely empty with a "vacant" sign. Also the bathroom had a very strong...
Read moreLove the NANTA show so much!!! Totally recommended. When my hubby said he wanted to watch this show then I wasn’t quite interested as the video clips online about the show was just chopping vege and making music, but reality was much much better than what I have seen online. It’s very engaging with audience and non-stop laughing and enjoying full 1.5hrs of the show. Buy earlier, get the discount plus good seats. Ours at row F but visibility is great! Very front seats (3 rows) may have some chopped vege splash. When I watch this show it’s performed by White team. In the show full 1.5 hr, they act, play kitchenware to make music, also dance a lil, acrobat, and magic - all mixture of performance with interacting with audience which is best part of the show. Some audiences were called up to the stage to be part of performance too. Very engaging. It’s a family show so even kids also enjoying and laughing all the way.. I want to give 6stars review to this show if...
