Myeongdong Shopping Street is a must-visit destination for any tourist exploring Seoul. Known as one of the city’s busiest and most vibrant areas, it offers something for everyone, making it a top choice for shopping, dining, and experiencing local culture. The street is a paradise for shopaholics, with an incredible variety of stores ranging from global fashion brands to Korean cosmetics, skincare boutiques, and trendy accessories. Whether you’re searching for the latest beauty products, stylish clothes, or unique souvenirs, you’ll find it all here. Many shops also offer tax-free shopping for tourists, adding extra convenience and savings. Food lovers will be delighted by the sheer number of dining options available. From traditional Korean restaurants to Chinese eateries and cozy cafes, there’s a wide range of choices to satisfy any craving. The street truly comes alive at night with its famous night market. After sunset, hundreds of food carts line the street, serving an array of mouthwatering street food. Popular treats include tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), grilled skewers, egg bread, hotteok (sweet pancakes), and more innovative options like lobster tails, cheesy potato dishes, and trendy desserts like bingsu (shaved ice). However, it’s important to note that Myeongdong can get extremely crowded, especially during holidays and weekends. The narrow streets are packed with locals and tourists, creating a lively but sometimes overwhelming atmosphere. Patience is key when navigating the area during peak times, but the vibrant energy and countless attractions make it well worth the visit. With its endless shopping, delicious food, and electric ambiance, Myeongdong Shopping Street remains a quintessential stop for anyone visiting Seoul.

Super-touristy street in a super-touristy area, but still loved it. A lot of stores you'll see in the US mixed in with restaurants and smaller shops, with a fairly large number of booths in the center that sell a ton of different foods. We decided to skip a restaurant dinner and just enjoyed sampling a lot of different foods. My wife and MIL totally hit it off with the "boneless chicken feet" vendor and had a couple of orders on the spot and one to go. There was a fried noodle booth directly across that also got a couple of orders from us and I had some fantastic beef from the rock-n-roll cart next to him. They sit in a prime location at the junction of the 2 main roads that have the carts in the middle. Wasn't too impressed with the juices we tried there but the fried sweet pancakes were delicious. Of all the things we ordered the roasted corn-on-the-cob was the worst. Dry and chewy. Overall I'm pretty sure we spent as much or more than we would have at a sit-down place but really enjoyed the experience. Note that like most places in Seoul there are no garbage cans so you'll need to carry your trash around or find a friendly vendor who will toss it in with their garbage (thanks boneless chicken feet guy!). Traffic is TERRIBLE and it can be difficult to get a cab during peak times. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re in the area!

Myeongdong Street in Seoul is a vibrant shopping district and a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the city. Known for its bustling atmosphere, Myeongdong is filled with shops, boutiques, and department stores, offering everything from trendy fashion and cosmetics to Korean skincare brands like Innisfree, Etude House, and Nature Republic. One of the highlights of Myeongdong Street is its street food. Food stalls line the streets, serving popular Korean treats like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), hotteok (sweet pancakes), grilled squid, kimbap, and bungeoppang (fish-shaped pastries filled with red bean or custard). This food scene gives visitors a chance to try a variety of delicious snacks while exploring. Myeongdong is also known for its fun, energetic vibe, especially in the evenings when bright neon signs light up the streets. Street performers often add to the lively atmosphere, and there are cafes and restaurants where visitors can rest and people-watch. With its combination of shopping, food, and entertainment, Myeongdong Street is one of Seoul’s most popular districts, attracting both locals and tourists for a dynamic, uniquely Korean experience.

Myeongdong is no doubt a shopping heaven and I will say it can be compared to perhaps Shinsaibashi in Osaka (but not as intense) It's a vibrant shopping experience district with Shops, Food and Drinks. Lots of Billboards, colours, lights and the trendy and young line the streets. A lot of international clothing brands (Top Ten, 8 Seconds, H&M, Zara....) can be found on these streets and the same for face and body care brands (Innisfree, the SAEM, Nature Republic, Olive Young.....) Bags, shoes and crazy loads of accessories stores. From my description, I think you get a pretty good idea of what to expect. There are no lockers for tourist and by foot shopping, I will say it will take a full 8 to 10hrs to cover the entire location. Not forgetting there is still a Myeongdong Underground Shopping Center! I will suggest if your hotel is nearby, you can break your visit down to afternoon and night. And if you stay further away, perhaps make a two day visit to cover all the areas? Enjoy the street food and soak in the culture while you are visiting. #20000stepsinmeyongdong #lovestreetfood #shoptillwedrop

This is maybe one of the biggest tourist parts of Seoul you can find. It does have many shops for cosmetics, clothes, shoes, snack you name it. You can make great deals if you are considering to buy in larger quantities. However, some of the restaurants here is a joke. High price for under par korean food. So be aware, just a short 5 min away from this area you'll have several places and areas serving authentic korean food to a fair or even cheap price. Now, I am not saying all places are bad, luckily there's few of the bad ones left. But some are still there. If you're not a big fan of big groups of people, I recommend to stay away or visit early in the morning when the crowd is definitely smaller. Evening is probably the most busiest and you should expect to move around slow. Especially in the weekends as this area is still a spot for couples. If it is your first time in Seoul, check it out. But try to start early. If you don't mind catching the evening vibe once will be a nice experience too. Enjoy ^^
