I regret choosing Sollago Myeongdong Hotel & Residence for my stay in Korea. The experience was far from what I expected, and there were several issues that made my time there quite uncomfortable.
First of all, the location is misleading. Despite the name, the hotel is not actually in Myeongdong—it’s one station away, located near Chungmu-ro station. This was quite disappointing as I had expected to stay closer to the heart of Myeongdong.
Another frustrating aspect was the hairdryer situation. They had it locked inside a mirror storage unit in the washroom, making it impossible to relax and comfortably dry my hair after a long day of shopping. And for what? The hairdryer wasn’t even a high-quality or fancy product—it was weak and cheap, adding to the overall discomfort of the stay.
While there is a washing machine in the room, it’s important to note that it has no drying function. With limited hangers provided and no hanging rope, it was nearly impossible to dry my clothes after washing them.
After checking out, I realized I had left two jackets in the room closet. I called the front desk, and they confirmed they found my jackets, which was a relief. However, they offered to send them to the airport, but my schedule was tight, and the airport was an hour away from the hotel. Initially, one staff member told me they could mail my jackets to me if I paid for the freight, which seemed reasonable. However, when I called back to confirm, a different staff member said they wouldn’t mail them at all. Instead, they suggested I find a friend to pick them up. Since I was traveling alone and didn’t know anyone in the area, this was extremely unhelpful and frustrating. The lack of assistance from the staff only added to my disappointment with the hotel.
The hotel itself feels more like an old factory building rather than a proper hotel. Walking out of the lift toward my room was off-putting, and the furnishings were very basic and uninviting. There was no atmosphere or charm to speak of, which made the experience even less enjoyable. It genuinely felt like I was staying in a place that lacked the warmth and service one would expect from a hotel.
Given my experience and the misleading location, I will never come back again. I wouldn’t recommend Sollago Myeongdong Hotel & Residence to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, and relaxing place to stay in Korea. There are much better...
Read moreHaving been to Seoul 3 times in last 2 years, this might be the best 4 stars hotel we have stayed. The washing machine in the room was great as it meant not having to share with others. The rooms were a good size and we can open our 2 big 28" luggages. Aircon was strong during our stay in early June. There was a microwave and kettle. 2 small drinking bottles were provided and replenished daily. Coffee & tea were provided though no spoon in one of our room. The toilet bowl is the smart type. Plenty of storage area behind the mirror in the toilet. A reasonable hair dryer was provided. TV has many channels. There is a calendar lookalike which shows the wifi PW. If u flipped it, there are actually a lot of infos provided. 2 GS25 within the same building. 5 mins walk to exit 7 on line 4. There is a lift if u can spot it and it is really helpful if you don't wish to carry your luggages up the train stairs. If u walk towards the other line which is about 10 mins walk away, there are more food options although those just in front of the hotel will be able to satisfy your local food cravings. If I must fault, then I'll say the water pressure is not too strong and it does take some time for the hot water to come to your desired temperature. There are 4 lifts to serve all the rooms in the building. I'll seriously put this hotel in my favourite lists next time I'm in Seoul. Thank you...
Read moreJust stayed at Sollago Myeongdong for 6 days as a group of 4 girls. We had two side-by-side rooms. Our stay was lovely! Would definitely stay there again.||Front desk staff were ready to help at all hours of the day. Housekeeping was super friendly. ||The location was excellent for accessing all the shopping and tourist sites we wanted to visit. Short walk to the subway station.||Great food options right outside the lobby (including an excellent Korean BBQ spot connected to the main entrance and along the road directly outside). Bonus: two 24 hour convenient stores and a coffee shop off the lobby. ||Rooms, while small compared to say North America, definitely work for two people. If you're bringing large or multiple suitcases, you'll just need to be a little creative with where you place/open it. But no big deal.||In room washing machine was soooo useful - but pack a drying string as there isn't a drying rack or rope. ||The kitchenette comes in handy but note there are no dishes or cutlery. Still the microwave is great for convenience store snacks (a must try when in Seoul!)||Beds were decently comfortable. ||Wifi worked well.||Gym was a good travel gym space. Gets the job done.||Each room has a doorbell with a camera. Nice safety feature for us, as a group of females.||Like I said, would go back...
