Definitely one of the best old restaurants in Euljiro을지로 area. Also very affordable.

Completely a local one. I haven't seen any foreigners here yet(I believe there's no english menu as well) but the food tastes really nice. Chicken is more like chewy than soft, but not tough! I've tried every menu in this place and I highly recommend 닭전골, which is a spicy chicken soup/stew with vegetable and Tteok떡. Don't forget to add extra noodle(국수사리) when you ordered 닭전골. 닭찜(Dak-Jjim, braised chicken) and 곰탕(Gom-Tang, chicken soup with meat) are not spicy and also very popular. When you order 닭찜, warm chicken soup(without meat) is separately served so you can enjoy both meat and soup. If you don't enjoy chicken skin much, you can take it out when ordering.

sometimes takes long to get in. it's not a 'modern' style restaurant so you might feel narrow or uncomfortable. Be aware: outside restroom is on 2nd floor and very.... old..and... bit inconvenient .. you don't wanna drink...

Hwang Pyeong Jib is a traditional Korean chicken restaurant specializing in spicy seasoned chicken (무침).

I tried their seasoned chicken and steamed chicken. The moochim was pretty good, but the steamed chicken was pretty normal. They also give unlimited chicken broth.

The dishes are mainly for drinking soju. Around 50,000 KRW for 3 people (including alcohol).

There are only about 6-7 seats, and the restaurant is quite popular among locals, so expect waiting time if visiting during peak hours.

맛있는 집인데 기다려서 먹을만한 곳잇지는 난 잘 모르겠다. 그래도 종로 및 을지로의 다른 노포들에 비하면 가격이 착한 편이라 술 마시러 종종 간다. 난 그렇게까지 맛있는건지는 모르겠는데, 닭무침이 정말 조화롭게 감칠맛이 난다고 한다. 어제 같이 간 친구는 살면서 먹은것 중 가장 맛있다고 했다. 비슷한 음식은 광화문 국밥의 양무침이 생각난다. 이 쪽은 썰어넣은 사과랑 오이 등으로 뉘앙스는 살짝 다르긴 한데, 소스 맛은 비슷하다. 닭곰탕은 뭐 특별한거 기대하지 마라. 어찌됐든 간이나 한약재 안 넣고 그냥 솥에서 죽 우린 닭육수다.노계 썼다고 쫄것도 없다. 나 치킨 뻑뻑살 잘 안 먹는데 여기 거는 근육이 발달되서 좀 쫄깃한 식감 난다. 누런 껍데기는 영계 대기해서 돌기가 유난히 강조되어 징그럽긴 하나 무시하고 씹으면 쫄긴쫄깃하니 식감이 좋다. 양도 푸짐하고 국물도 진하다. 곰탕국물 마시면서 닭무침 같이 먹으면 술이 진짜 잘 넘어가는건 인정한다.

감점 1점은 화장실 건이다. 화장실때문에 여성분 모시고 가기는 좀 그렇다. 가게 오른쪽 건물 2층인데, 딱히 도어락이 되어있지는 않으니까기다리다 다녀오면 되는건 편한데... 사람이 많이 다녀가서 그런건지 기냥 홍어 푹 삭힌 암모니아 개씹샹내가 풀풀 난다. 손 닦는 개수대도 그냥 마포걸레 빨라고 나온 스뎅 거시기고 비누도 파란색 졸라 큰 빨래비누고 ㅋㅋㅋ 그리고 볼일보고 나가는 길에 제대로 고개 안 숙이고 나가면 키 150대도 대가리 박는데 초행길에 대가리 안 박은 사람을 못 봤다.

그리고 가게 안에 사람들이 다 술마시고 알딸딸하다보니 개시끄러워서 흉성을 내질러야...
