This is for the most part a typical Toyoko Inn, with the same room configurations and amenities. Location is good, as there is an airport bus stop right outside, and a number of subway lines stop at the nearby Dongdaemun History and Culture Park station which is a block away. Two convenience stores are also within a block or so. My stay was for 6 nights and the same day laundry service was very handy and not very expensive. The front desk staff was friendly and accommodating, even though there were some minor communication issues (my Korean is much worse than the staff's English, but we managed to work everything out). ||||The room size was typical for a Toyoko Inn, but there was plenty of room to move around, store my three suitcases, and hang some clothes on the hooks on the wall, as well as the storage under the bed. The bathroom was also typical Toyoko Inn, as was the refrigerator, in room safe, coffee-tea making facilities, TV, phone, and air conditioner/heater. ||||There was one maintenance issue that I didn't bring to the hotel's attention, and that was a lamp that looked like it had a bad electrical plug, but I was not using it. Housekeeping has a set schedule, and if you are in your room when they are ready to clean your room, you will just get a bag of new towels outside your door. ||||Certain amenities are available at the front desk for free or a nominal charge. The facial tissues and soap came in very handy.||||There is only one negative comment I can make about this hotel, and it was alluded to by another reviewer. Most of the time there is an odor which reminds me of a cross between sewer gas and kimchi. Usually this odor was present only in the bathroom and at times in the hallways. I had to keep the bathroom door closed, and counterintuitively, the bathroom fan OFF. After walking the area around the hotel, I believe the odor is coming from outside the hotel from some of the vent tubes located in the surrounding streets to vent something from somewhere. I also noticed that the colder (meaning below freezing) it got outside, the less the odor seemed to be.||||Other than the odor problem, this is an excellent place to stay while in Seoul for the...
Read moreI booked this hotel because it had cheap price with free breakfast and had good reviews. In the first day, I almost canceled my booking with this hotel. I had a very tough time finding the elevator to get out of the subway station. It was a nigh**are for me because I travel with extra heavy luggage even though the hotel was located near the subway exit, I definitely couldn’t carry my luggage to climb such very high stair. So I need to get out by the elevator. It took almost an hour to find the elevator and finally I still couldn’t find it. I need to get out at the DDP center and climb up the hill to main street and then walk a long distance to the hotel, I was super exhausted and felt so down. I looked for a new hotel that night and thought that I would never stay in this hotel again but after the first night staying here I get hooked with their breakfast. It was Korean style breakfast, it looked simple but incredibly delicious that made me wanted to stay in this hotel forever. The hotel have its own nice kitchen team, they were lovely aunties that cooked freshly and delicious breakfast every morning. I was extremely impressed and satisfied with their breakfast and this is the only reason that I will come back to this hotel again. If you’re looking for a nice low budget hotel to stay I highly recommend this hotel but be warned that don’t carry heavy luggages if you travel by subway, it’s perfect for a backpacker. And if you need to carry heavy luggage, the elevator is at exit 1 get out there and take around 10 minutes walk...
