we first went here in august 2022, it was brilliant, food, staff, room, location was all amazing but one thing, i left my shoes at the pool which was my own fault and somebody stole them, we went to reception and they wasn't returned which isn't really the hotels fault. it was good enough for us to return with again no negative reports, my mum loved the big nutella machine and the food was a good selection with the food changing everyday, great selection of desserts too including, ice cream, fruit, cake etc. the room was just normal it's not bad but would look better refurbished as i saw someone say it if getting a refurb which is nice to hear. there are 3 pools, a kids one- quite small but normal for kids. there was 2 main ones, we went to the busier one only once during our stay in 2024 as it was quite a stretch for sunbeds if you want a lie in, most probably all taken by about 8:30. however when we went previously their was activity's like a blow up bouncy castle with other little bits. there is also a towel stand with floats and things. around the pool their is drink stands where you can just grab a cup and fill your drink a normal selection of fizzy drinks and their was also iced lattes, coffees and hot drinks. they had alcohol and also ice cream fridge where you can just go and grab one. at the other pool it is much the same with the drink stands but their is a thing where you can order food they had like burgers, fries, hot dogs things like that and they also had nachos, salad and sauces which you could just go and grab yourself. i'm not too sure if they had a food thing at the other pool but i don't remember. this pool is quieter with a bridge in the middle which people was doing flips off, underneath the bridge was like these hanging monkey bars (wasn't actually meant to be monkey bars) but people used them as that, if you have kids i'd say just watch them as it was quite low and a hazard of banging your head. this pool was easy to get sunbeds if you don't want to get up early, i would say the latest you would find them is about 10:30-11 however there was the odd one throughout the day. all sunbeds had tables and umbarellas at both pools. in terms of things outside the hotel their was a little pathway you could go down at the side of the hotel which leads you to the town, we stopped at an ice cream shop which was delicious with a variety of flavours and drinks. their was the average shops that sold all the fake football shirts, clothes, jewellery, fake designer etc there was a real shop though with real designer things. there was also a supermarket with decent priced things and if your a takis lover like me then you are in luck. there was a little park area aswell with swings and things also on the walk to the main town there was like the gym equipment you could go and use, all in good quality and safe. the town was good except one of the shops i was looking at football shirts and the woman wouldn't let me leave in the end i had to say i was going to think about it and come back but didn't return. overall town was pretty good. back to the hotel there was the sister hotel you could go in, there was a football pitch which i went and had a game on but other than that we didn't stay there for a while but looked like a decent hotel too. there was a shop inside the main reception which had a really good variety of snacks, had some clothes, suveneers, floats all for a reasonable price. there was also a mini shopping bit at the side of the hotel right next to reception desk you could go through the doors, there was another shop with snacks and things, one with suveneers and clothes and little fidgets. their was a bar where you could watch football, also a midnight bar where you could get hot food and drinks from. also a big stage where the was nightly entertainment. also a kids club which looked good. the reception staff was excellent and helpful. there was a table tennis and a pool table down at the bridge pool which you could go up to reception and ask for the bats, balls, and things you just gave them 5 euro deposit and you would obviously get it back when you return the bats and things. in the reception their was the downstairs with a bar, seating, toilets and a little games room where you could play table tennis and i think they had some racing machines. the ways to the rooms their was a way through reception if your room was on one side, they had lifts and stairs so the rooms weren't a mission to get too, the cleaners were friendly giving you drinks in your fridge every day and new towels, with obviously cleaning your room and they did some designs with the towels which were cute. overall the hotel is absolutely amazing and deserves a 5 star in my opinion, we will definetly be returning for the 3rd time and don't let the bad reviews put you down because i have read some and none are like my wonderful experiance everything is on point. definetly recommend...
Read moreHoliday trip to Bahia Principe Sunlight Hotel, Coast Adeje, 15th May 2025||This was our first trip to stay at a Bahia Hotel in Tenerife in the Canaries Islands, We started with an excellent Jet2 plane from Stanstead and as usual the service was superb. On time, excellent pre- service and plane staff. Nothing was too much for them to do to make our flight pleasant. Passport control at Tenerife South Airport was efficient and our luggage received promptly. We had a private transfer and arrived at the hotel in about 15 minutes.||However on landing at Tenerife South Airport my daughters hold luggage bag was damaged and could not be used further. There was a Jet2 member of staff at the luggage retrieval point who quickly ascertained the damage, filled in a damage report and told she would be eligible for compensation and would be contacted soon after. Before the holiday ended my daughter was contacted and told she would receive compensation and bought another case. Upon arrival back in England she received a money compensation award on the first night back. Excellent service by a willing company with many Jet2 personnel around the airport to assist you. ||On arriving at the hotel we were booked in by efficient staff but could not get to our rooms until after 2.00 pm as they were still cleaning it. This was a common occurrence it seemed. We left our bags in the reception area and had lunch and lazed by the pool. We eventually got to our rooms (it was a large suite) and settled down. Later that evening we had dinner and settled down for the night. ||The site is built on a small hill and gravitates down to the sea area which was not usually used by the hotel people. There is a big pool area more suited to families and a smaller one at the bottom of the hill, more suited to adults. Both have pool bars at them. The larger pool allowed you to refill your beer glasses yourselves but the bottom one allowed you to refill both beer and red and white wine yourself, an unusual occurrence from our holidays. The lower pool bar also provided snack meals during the day. Plenty of pool activities were provided for young and old at the big pool including a massive foam machine and free tee shirts if you took part in an on-line survey. ||There were plenty of pool beds and umbrellas of a good standard (but the usual annoying early towel pre booking system if you get up early) around all the pools with umbrellas available throughout the day. There was a small gym at the top of the hotel with the usual assortment of exercise equipment, but open to the outside area so air conditioning was not truly effective, with hand towels to wipe away the sweat. Pool beds were still available throughout the day but not necessarily with umbrellas.||At the top of the hotel was an amphitheatre type area to sit down during the day and for the evening entertainment which was excellent each night from about 8.15 pm onwards. Top marks there. There was also an theatre type area just across from the hotel (but part of it) providing evening entertainment. The main eating restaurant was by the amphitheatre area which provided a wide variety of food with stated allergy information. There were 2 other specialty smaller restaurants further down the hill, one of which had to book for, although one of them did provided a non-bookable breakfast and lunch menu. Both provided good food.||There are paths (not really for disability wheel chairs) to get down to the bottom pool area by the sea and a series of lifts and walkways to get around the rest of the hotel. It does take a bit of time to get used to the warren ways of getting around and the ground to cover and disabled people could use these.||There was a small shopping area close by to the hotel (small taxi ride) and a larger one at Adeje which you need a taxi to get there and further away. Make sure you are taken to the main sea front where there are many tourist type shops and not the many hotels around it with pricier shopping type malls.||Overall an excellent 4 start hotel with plenty of good points and well worth the money spent to stay there. Staff were very pleasant and always available to help you. Would I...
Read moreDefinitely not a 4-star hotel.
The hotel is huge, with lots of stairs, to get from one end to the other is essentially a hike, not suitable for people with mobility issues. When we arrived around midnight, a security guard escorted us to our room (which we had to request for) in total darkness. We had to carry six suitcases down multiple flights of stairs with no assistance. Once in the room, the AC, fan and telephone weren't working. On top of that the headboard of the bed was broken, paint was chipping off walls, dead spiders and live cockroaches in the bathroom. Obviously, the room was not checked or clean beforehand. We walked all the way back to reception to report this, only to be told, "It’s not my fault," with no apology whatsoever. Is that a professional response? We ended up waiting for maintenance, who couldn’t communicate in English, and didn’t get to bed until very late. After a long flight, this was a frustrating and poorly handled situation.
The bed’s headboard was falling apart (literally) and made noise every time we moved, plus the bed itself was uncomfortable with scratchy sheets. The fan made weird noises, and the room was poorly designed with bad lighting and few plug points, none near the bedside. The bathroom was old-fashioned, with a narrow tub (able to slip/fall easily) and poor water pressure. The room wasn’t properly cleaned; my feet turned black from the dirty floor, and we had to request mopping, clean sheets, and sweeping. Overall, the room felt outdated and poorly maintained.
The daybeds are nearly impossible to get because guests hog them early, with some even leaving towels overnight to reserve them. It's honestly like a race to get them. The hotel has policies but doesn’t enforce them. There aren’t enough tables or umbrellas either. At night, there’s live entertainment, but again, not enough chairs or tables. Despite encouragement from the hotel to attend, people would arrive early to claim spots, so we could never find anywhere to sit and watch the performances.
The food is generally good, but it can be inconsistent; too salty, lacking salt, or overly oily. The chicken was often hard and dry, with only rare exceptions. I found the options repetitive and got bored quickly, especially with the limited vegetarian and vegan choices. The staff, including restaurant staff, were arrogant and unfriendly, never smiling, making eye contact, or greeting us. In comparison, staff in hotels like the Shang and Four Seasons don't even treat you this way, don't get why they should. Many staff also don’t speak English, so communication is difficult.
We asked reception for help finding a beach, but instead of clear guidance, the receptionist told us to take a public bus. While that’s an option, our concern was how we’d return or if we got lost, being in a foreign country and unfamiliar with the surroundings. She recommended a “black beach” within walking distance from the Hard Rock Hotel. The next day, another staff member told us it was very far and was actually a “grey” beach. He marked it on a map for the taxi driver as he was sure the driver would understand but the taxi driver was lost. We went to the Hard Rock, where guest services were much more helpful. Disappointing to see lack of knowledge from the hotel's reception staff, considering they live locally in Tenerife. Everyone at reception has something different to say. The hotel’s location is terrible especially for sightseeing as it’s far from everything. Long distances meant higher taxi costs so we couldn't visit many places.
The hotel’s upkeep is very poor, which is puzzling given how packed it is. They’re obviously making money but aren't investing in improvements. Everything feels outdated, and in a hot country, you'd expect AC in the main areas and restaurants, but there isn't any. If you ask reception for something, expect it to take 3-4 days. They give the impression of efficiency, but they’re far from it. For the price, it’s not worth it, and I don’t understand how it gets good reviews. Definitely wouldn’t...
