Nama Sushi overlooks the sea and shares a terrace with a cocktail bar and some other restaurants. The restaurant has outdoor seating only and is an amazing spot to watch the sunset- we visited in September and would suggest getting there by 7:45pm to take some photos and make the most of the setting.
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with pretty lighting and background music. The service was brilliant - unfortunately, we didn’t get the gentleman’s name, but he was great. Most importantly the food was fantastic - we love sushi and we weren’t expecting such fresh and delicious sushi in Tenerife!
We ordered: Gyoza de cerdo - fried pork gyoza Tartar de Atun - tuna tartare Tataki - seared tuna with truffle Suzuki usuzukuri ponzu - sea bass sashimi in ponzu dressing (substituted for butterfish per the waiter’s suggestion, as no sea bass available) Urumaki tempura langostine - prawn tempura California rolls Urumaki salmon aburi misomiel - salmon roll topped with seared salmon with a miso-honey glaze.
All dishes were fantastic and we would order them all again, but the stand out dishes were the tuna tataki with truffle, the ponzu butterfish and the Urumaki salmon (which is seared with a blowtorch tableside). The wasabi is made in house and deserves a mention! We also had 2 bottles of lovely Provence rosé, and some complimentary mochi and local liqueur to finish the meal. The passion fruit mochi were 10/10 and worth ordering if you’re having dessert.
It was a real highlight of our holiday having such a great meal in a lovely setting. If you’re in south Tenerife this is...
Read moreI’ve stayed in Playa Paraiso three times over the past year or so and during each trip my mum & I have been delighted with the experience at Nama Sushi: the view over the ocean, particularly as sunset approaches, is incredible; the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with knowledgeable and welcoming staff who make you feel at home and will make great recommendations, should you not know where to start with a wide selection of sushi and sashimi; the menu is great - the blowtorched fish on the uramaki rolls with the sweet dressing is consistently delicious (even eaten as leftovers the next day, when the sharing platter was too much for us!), even staples like pork gyoza are better than I’ve had anywhere else (gently fried, maximum flavour). Heartily recommended for anyone to try while in the area, forgo your included lunch or dinner if you are on an all inclusive hotel package…...
