As we live locally, we’ve seen this restaurant group slowly renovate the space in the highly competitive block in Playa Paraíso between Roca Negra and Nama Sushi, both of which it also owns. If we were to judge the food alone this could be a five star review.
Navigating the menu is a little tricky since the starters are mixed in with mains in each of the three sections - fish, meat and specials - and not identified. We enjoy cod croquettes, asparagus in butter sauce and tuna tartare, each one excellent indeed, the latter a huge serving but perfectly executed with crispy watermelon contrasting the guacamole and tuna.
For mains we have two duck and a risotto. The latter was good, plenty of prawns and the chopped hazelnut provides a delightful crunch. The duck is good but one plate a little more cooked than perhaps it should be, nevertheless very well paired with figs.
After asking for the wine list three times, we’re finally told they don’t have one, which is a curious omission, instead one of the more senior staff asks what grape we prefer and brings us a very good Blas Muñoz Chardonnay, we then have to ask how much it is. It’s decanted unnecessarily, and later our second bottle is inelegantly mixed into the same decanter.
Service is mostly good but at no time is our guest, a lady, served first or glass topped up first - indeed I even have to pour wine at one stage.
We look forward to returning soon, but hope a few little gaps are ironed out in what promises to be a great addition to the local dining scene in...
Read moreMy wife and I had been looking for a decent restaurant in the area and had been very disappointed. This was until we found the Nero Sul Mare. The restaurant was busy and we did therefore, have the chance to sit by the window on this first occasion, but we had a lovely table and swapped our chairs for more comfortable options at another table. This was no problem for the restaurant at all We began with a glass of Chardonnay (delicious) and ordered a starter each. I had the bruschetta and my wife opted for the buffalo caprese salad. My goodness! These were absolutely two stunning dishes of generous proportions. Beautifully presented and wonderfully created, these were a complete triumph. The main dishes followed: my wife had the Salmon in dried fruit crumble served over guacamole and a green asparagus cream while I had the grilled sea bass in a green breading with saffron mashed potatoes and organic leaves. Both were fabulous and so we returned two days later to sample more from the menu but only elected to have a main course each. I opted for the tagliatelle with sirloin steak in a parmesan sauce (absolutely delicious) and my wife had perhaps the best-tasting ravioli dish we have ever had.. pictures below.
Superb service and brilliant cooking, this restaurant has a wonderful team and did not disappoint on either...
Read moreA group of six of us had drinks and dinner here. We didn’t make a reservation but this was not a problem for the staff. We had two rounds of drinks out on the terrace overlooking the sea and then went inside for food. The service was fast and drinks were great. This was the best meal we had on our holiday and the pasta was even better than any we had while we were in Rome. The staff were attentive and very friendly. The whole experience was exceptional. The cocktails were far better than any we had at the Hard Rock Hotel where we staying. Unbeatable location and value for money. Giuseppes hospitality was by far the best we had on our whole stay. It may take you a while to get served when it’s busy but this is because they are making everything fresh and it’s definitely worth the wait. Sit back and relax take in the views and atmosphere….. We were recommended to try the special of beef cheeks braised in wine and it was phenomenal!!! The steak pasta was so tasty that we want to go back and have it again! Not a scrap left on anyone’s plate. Desserts were great portion and very tasty cheesecake and...
