Hotel IPV Palace & Spa — Hotel in Fuengirola

We booked a little short getaway only a few days before and it was MAGICAL ! |Such an easy short transfer of only 25 mins from the airport to hotel. A FANTASTIC location -right on the beach and a 40 min slow walk to the harbour of Fuengirola.|The sun shone -it was hot but lots of shaded places to rest on the prom. |The area was so clean and scenery beautiful. |The hotel itself had so much character -lovely decor . The pool area was immaculate. We were able to get sun-beds with a table and parasol right next to the pool every day and there were no sun-bed wars ! The pool was clean and a great temperature to swim in . Inflatables and ball games not permitted, but although i love a lilo i think it was a good thing as there was space in the pool to swim and “ bob” without fear of getting clonked on the head . There was gentle entertainment - aqua-gym -quiz . Only music at certain times … this made a very chilled experience. |We received a warm welcome on our arrival . A efficient check in and a lovely man helped us with our luggage to our room . He took time to show us how the air-con and safe worked. Our room was adequate . Lovely air con and it was clean . The beds were comfy but had a gap in between which i was worried about falling through! We really appreciated our sea view and the fridge. There was no kettle so if you like a early morn cuppa its an idea to bring a little travel one . There was a hairdryer to use. |We booked bed and breakfast and oh my what a selection ! Full english buffet -fruit cheeses /pastries … yummy ! |Condiments of mustard mayo brown and red sauce available The chef who cooked eggs the way you liked always did it with a smile . Never stressed and always profession. He was AMAZING ! One night we enjoyed dining in the hotel buffet style . It was a very chilled experience -sitting outside and the quality of food good . |We ate out for 2 mights at the La Casa Rustica in the town . UNBELIEVABLE hospitality and the food was divine ! We also had the most lovely tasty paella lunch at nearby in the Restarante Botabavara . We would definitely recommend a visit to these lovely establishments !|On our first eve we were lucky enough to get a space on the Bombay Sapphire sunset cruise -just WOW . The sunset was spectacular . We were really looked after with drinks . The crew were wonderful and we could even choose the music which created a lovely ambiance. |What made our break away was the hospitality we were shown . The hotel team always were so helpful . Myself and my boyfriend checked into this hotel on the 15th of September and all was well at first. The rooms are clean and the hotel itself is spacious and looks the part. Unfortunately it goes downhill from here. On our second to last day we ordered lunch at the beach bar. I was given a “Kentucky” chicken wrap in which the chicken was completely raw all the way through. It was accompanied by oil sodden cold fries. My boyfriend ordered a breaded beef dish which also came raw and with cold oily potatoes. We immediately complained and had the food grabbed off us. My boyfriend had to go after them to tell them we did not want replacements. After getting a mere “sorry” from one of the waitresses, we told the restaurant manager on duty we would not be paying for that food. Being busy is not an excuse to serve raw food, especially chicken. We then spoke to the hotel “mediator” as the manager was not around, who had the cheek to say that we have to state how we would like our food cooked - I was not aware you had to make a point of asking to have chicken cooked through? That’s a new one. She then said there was no need to complain as they ensure their kitchen adheres to food safety laws - I’m certain this would include ensuring your food goes out to paying customers cooked safely. To add to this, on arrival we discovered we were unable to use the restaurants in the hotel as they were closed until next October. The buffet restaurant and the beach bar were open, however what they fail to tell you when you’re booking is that men are unable to use the buffet unless they have trousers on. I’m not sure about you but I wouldn’t plan to wear trousers in 27+ degree heat. Secondly, there are no signs anywhere around the pool that it is not allowed but you cannot take inflatables in the pool, despite it being a very generous size. This was not communicated to us until we had already bought them. Thirdly, the “spa”, which consists of a like warm jacuzzi that fits 2 people maximum and a swimming pool, is an extra €15 per person per use, this was shouted at us while we were already in it after walking past an unattended entrance which had no signs visible regarding cost.

Disappointed as this hotel has so much potential and for the first few days we had no complaints as the trousers and no inflatables could have been overlooked if it wasn’t for the restaurant incident. A real shame that this hotel lacks basic...

DON'T ORDER THIS HOTEL! We got married there with a big group of people. We have spend alot of money there, and was happy with the place, BUT when the wedding was over, the hotel charged us for services we did not order. They even threathened us that the Police would arrest us if we did not pay for the service we did NOT have...Such a Sad experience...We were so happy about everything and loved the whole day + people working there, but they really ruined all of that impression after the wedding. They wrote my name wrong in the menus and the welcome signs at the wedding, and they forgot to give/serve plates for our weddingcakes, The cakes were basicly untouched...But we had decided to let that go...But when they even charged us for more money than agreed on, we got so disappointed and sad really, and they were so so rude with us claiming the money and threathened us...We felt so pressured, so we just paid....They have scammed us and ripped us...STAY AWAY!!

EDIT: I can see the hotel has responded here. These are all lies! We had ONE guest that caused trouble in ONE room, and he payed you 520 euro for the door he ruined! WHY are you blaming us? We did not even know about anything until days after. We can not be blaimed for a guest and his behavor in the night? And no the menus was only partly changed. Many places my name was written TONGE. And yes - we all were very pleased with everything like I said, but when you charge us 450 euro exta after the wedding for a service we did not have? All of our guests confirm that the bar closed at 02.00. The room however was open to 03.00! The cake was not served. We had to ask several times for plates and finally when all guest were gone the plates came - 01.30 - yes you are right!

You don't take any responsebility for anything, and despite us not getting cake + wrong name you CHARGE us extra? It's so clear to us that you blame us for a guest who caused trouble. So so unfair and very unproffesional. A big scam! I am sorry you feel this way about us. We are honest people and you took...
