Arrived at hotel at 12.30 was told room would be 45mins which was fine as check in is not until 2pm went back to reception at 13.20 to ask if there was any update was told that it would be a further 35 mins as the room was dirty and needed a deep clean. Told the receptionist that was fine and sat in front of reception desk with two kids nearly falling asleep after such an early flight. 2pm seen the receptionist going home and went and ask the new receptionist and she said the room has been ready for ages. Why wouldn't the first receptionist say to us when we were sitting in front of them, or even pass the information to the new receptionist that we had been sitting there for a reason. I did say to the receptionist that there was a family of around 10 people that had checked in after us and where already changed and at the pool and she said it's not her problem that some rooms are dirtier than others and that check in was at 2. So disinterested. Card in room states that the reception has 24-hour money exchange so I went to reception and asked if I could change some money and she said no sorry we don't change pounds to euro we only change euro to euro which makes no sense at all. I asked if she knew of anywhere nearby to change money and she just simply shrugged and said no! The whole reception staff attitudes are absolutely disgusting! The most unhelpful reception staff I have ever came across! Didn't even tell us about the WiFi code or offer a safe in the room or in fact any information at all when we checked in. Really gave a bad impression from the start!
We also arrived into our deep cleaned room and had to sweep the floor and make the beds as the sheets where just left in a pile for the sofa beds. This should have been done! We had to go to the supermarket and buy washing up liquid for the dishes (definitely should be provided for self-catering!)
The balcony doors don't lock and even when closed you can hear every passing car. People running up the corridors at all hours of the night. Walls are like paper can hear the neighbour snoring all night long!
Cons:
-Reception Staff are so unwelcoming and a major letdown as this is the staff that give the first impression!
-Drink prices (€8\9.50 for cocktail 3.50 for coke) €1 for 3 ice cubes at the bar but there's no freezer in the room which there should be for self-catering) prices are cheaper basically everywhere else you go in Fuengirola.
-Cleanliness in the room (bed settees stained) floors absoloutley stinking had to throw every white pair of socks in the bin!
-Dishes not cleaned properly and were all greasy
-Balcony doors don't lock
-Noise levels at night
irregular cleaning rooms are only cleaned and towels changed every 4 days and if you're in your room they just leave fresh towels and don't come back to clean so your room isn't cleaned at all
-pool only opens at 10am and there's a queue of people who then run to put towels on sunbeds and don't go on them all day. Any other holiday I would be lying on the sunbed early in the morning but it's impossible here.
nighttime entertainment is shocking most nights it was an air hockey competition for teenagers, nothing on the stage. Live singer and magician once a week rest is rubbish! Hardly ever anyone even sitting down at entertainment which just shows how bad it is.
Pros:
-Location (close to beach, supermarket right beside it, bus stop at front entrance into town)
-Views from rooms
-Entertainment staff are so friendly and inviting
-Bar staff are very friendly
Can honestly say we are not fussy and I cannot understand how this place has so many good reviews we travel abroad 3 times a year and this is one of the worst hotels we have stayed in I would say it's more like a 2-star hotel...
Read moreWe've not long got back from this hotel, and I have to say that it was amazing.||Absolutely fantastic staff and in a perfect location. It's right next to a shopping centre and 5/10 minute walk to the beach, shops and bars.||We had a warm welcome from the moment we arrived, check in took a little time - not sure if it was because there were 8 of us, but once we were all sorted we had no problem finding our rooms. We were on the 6th floor and had a great view of the castle - unfortunately, it wasn't open during our stay, or we would have had a look round. The rooms were comfortable and clean and had everything we needed for our stay- even a dish cloth and tea towel which ive not seen before in self catering 🤣 You could have quite easily fit a family of 5 in the rooms as there were 2 beds in the bedroom and 3 sofa beds, the latter were surprisingly comfortable. The balcony was really big as well, so there was lots of room to sit outside and watch the world go by.||The staff were all lovely and helpful, and super friendly and chatty. A couple weren't great with their English, so it might be worth learning some Spanish words before you go ('dos cervezas por favor' is a good place to start 😊). If the bar is busy, they may have to wait to check with a colleague what you're asking for- it didn't impact us at all, but just something to bear in mind. |We mostly ate out during our stay, but we had breakfast each morning in the hotel. A full English and tea or coffee is only 7€, and it's worth every penny.||The pool area is great and has steps down into the water rather than just using a ladder. The pool itself is a really good size, and it didn't feel overcrowded even when there seemed to be a lot of people in it. A couple of afternoons, we came to sit by the pool and never had any issues getting sunbeds - even with there being 8 of us. Some of our party had lunch one day from the pool bar and said it was really tasty and good value as you got loads. ||The hotel is in a great location, just over the road is a shopping centre where you can find a supermarket, Primark and C&A as well as loads of other shops and some fast food restaurants like KFC and Burger King.|The beach is about 7 minutes walk away, 10 if you do a slow walk, and it's really easy to get to. If you go over the bridge you'll come to loads of restaurants, bars and shops. Most of the restaurants have extensive menus that cater to almost every taste, so you'd be hard pressed to find a place that won't have something for everyone.||I would stay here again in a heartbeat and hope to return at some point with my husband...
Read moreWe’ve stayed at this hotel a few times in the past, but after our most recent 9-day visit, we will not be returning. The experience was frustrating, disappointing, and nowhere near acceptable for the price we paid.||We had to move rooms twice due to extreme noise levels. The rooms are not soundproof, and the air conditioning barely worked — sleeping was a challenge every night. What really pushed us over the edge, though, was the completely unacceptable housekeeping service. The room was supposed to be cleaned every two days, but after six days with no cleaning and no towel change, we had to demand it be done after already requesting it multiple times at reception. We did not have a “Do Not Disturb” sign up — the service was simply not being provided. Staff were mixed — most were polite, but a few were extremely rude and dismissive when we brought this issue up.||We were also not informed at check-in that June is festival season in Fuengirola. The hotel is located right next to the castle where nightly concerts were held, and there was a skate park tournament happening nearby. The noise was constant and made relaxing almost impossible. A warning would’ve been the bare minimum.||Food and drink were underwhelming. Only house alcohol was included, and it was awful — more like drinking petrol than a proper spirit. Branded drinks cost an extra €2, which felt cheap and unfair.||The pool area could’ve been a highlight, but even that was disappointing. For the first few days, a group attending one of the nearby festivals were lying on sunbeds openly making out and smoking weed — right next to children. This was supposed to be a family hotel, and it was extremely inappropriate. To be clear, the issue was their behavior, not who they were — I would have said the same about any couple acting this way. The lack of staff intervention was shocking.||After several stays here, this visit made it clear the hotel has dropped its standards completely. We won’t be coming back. We’ll be returning to the Miramar where the service, professionalism, and guest experience are...
