I don’t know if it the same for you but big cities are always the most stressful part of our travels. The logistics of getting around without a car, finding adequate accommodation close to what you want to see at an affordable price and just how busy they are makes big cities a challenge. Staying at the Hostal La Perla Asturiana helped us deal with all these issues. This Hostal is close to Madrid’s main train station so quite easy to get to when you have never been to this city before. It is also just around the corner from Plaza Mayor and only a few short blocks from Plaza Del Sol. It is actually so centrally located that during the day it was easy to drop back to your room to pickup needed items or just take a break.|We stayed here twice while in Spain. First near the end of March and then again before we left Spain from Madrid at the end of April. The rooms were very adequate for the price in Madrid. Big cities are usually more expensive then smaller ones and at this Hostal prices are very good on your budget. What really makes this Hostal though is the staff. They are so very accommodating and friendly. They look after you like you are part of their family. If you have a question, need or request they will do their very best to fulfil that. Much of what made seeing Madrid easy and fun was that we got excellent advice and information from the staff and the location of the Hostal. Even when we were going to our taxi to the airport to leave Spain a staff member accompanied us to the taxi on the street to ensure that we got away to the right terminal in safety. Only place on our trip to do that. We just want to say “Thanks” to all those at La Perla Asturiana Hostal for making our time in Madrid so wonderful. I think you know that we really recommend this Hostal for your...
Read moreDo not go there. Bed bugs at least in two rooms and I got infection from them and got in to hospital with a severe bacteria on my leg. I had to leave after one night and they did not give a refund for the night I could not stay there. After only one night I found one bed bug from my suitcase so I had to get rid of everything. I have pictures and proofs and medical record from the hospital and they refused to refund. It is stealing money because for health reasons I cannot stay there. If I pay for the hotel room I expect it to be at least safe even when it is non-refundable. I got really sick and lost my suitcase and I had to book another accomodation. I have a picture and the location you can see where it has been taken because the hotel is accusing me of making this up and refused to come to the hotel room when I wanted to show where I found the bugs. This picture is the one I took from the room where they changed me after being bitten. The next day I ended up hospital for the infection and bacteria I got for the bites. This was the worst experience of moving to a new country as a student and losing everything. I understand that beg bugs spread easily but the hotel does not take this issue seriously and is accusing the customers for lying. This is not a resposible way of...
Read moreDuring the blackout (apagón), when accommodations were scarce, we turned to this hotel hoping for some understanding and compassion in a difficult time. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but comforting. The man at the front desk an older grumpy man with glasses was especially unprofessional and dismissive.
Despite our willingness to pay for a room, we were met with coldness and a complete lack of empathy. At a time when hospitality should have meant more than ever, this place failed us entirely. What could have been a refuge turned out to be a stressful and disheartening ordeal.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially during times of need. Poor service, poor attitude, and zero professionalism. To the man in the foggy lenses with a superiority complex, if you’re still there, congratulations on keeping that front desk warm while the rest of the world moves on without you.
Avoid this place unless you’re into being judged by a pair of bifocals...
