We were hungry after a 2.5 hour walking tour of the Centro of Madrid, after searching google for a decent lunch for a decent price to no avail. I decided to trust my intuition and look for a terrace slightly busy (always a good sign) and with a ‘menu del dia’ available. As we’re residents of Barcelona, we are familiar with the ‘menu del dia’, a set lunch menu, for a set price, usually a starter, a main, a drink and a dessert or coffee. So that’s exactly what we did. It was a great experience after falling for some tourist traps prior. Run by two brothers they made us feel like regular locals which felt very welcoming touch.
We noticed the restaurant was selling large volumes of "Bocata de Calamares" but chose instead the deep fried baby squid and a paella knowing that it is not a Madrid dish but this is still Spain and it was prepared over 1/2 hour or more so it was not the pre frozen type and it was awesome.
