Los Galayos — Restaurant in Madrid

We had the pleasure of dining at Los Galayos in Madrid, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, we were enveloped in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of this charming restaurant.

The highlight of our evening was the entertainment – a talented quartet singing traditional Spanish songs that had us clapping along and singing along (attempting to, anyway!). Their energy and passion were infectious, and we found ourselves swept up in the joy and excitement of the music.

But the music was only half the story – the food was truly sublime! We feasted on the most succulent roast suckling pig, which simply fell off the bone and melted in our mouths. The flavors were rich and authentic, and we savored every last bite.

The service was attentive and friendly, with our server taking the time to explain the dishes and make recommendations. The wine list was extensive and reasonably priced, with a great selection of Spanish varietals.

Overall, Los Galayos is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a truly immersive and delicious dining experience in Madrid. Be sure to book a table and request the quartet – they're a treat! We can't wait to come back and do it all again.

Five stars isn't enough – we'd give Los Galayos ten stars...

After experiencing a series of outstanding tapas joints in Granada and Sevilla, we visited this restaurant a couple of nights ago with great expectations. However, both food & service was a complete letdown.

Starters (olives & bread) are offered in a routine manner as at most other places, however it's only when receiving the bill you realize they are by no means complimentary. Mention of this is tucked away in fine print on the last page of the menu. Perhaps perusing every line of the menu is a normal practice with most other patrons visiting this fine establishment.

We ordered a plate of croquettes that cost nearly 10 euros, which wouldn't have felt astronomical had it not tasted like an amateur's first plate out of the kitchen.

Our server seemed least interested as he placed the plate we ordered at an edge of the table diametrically opposite to us. Yet, he didn't seem shy in reminding us that tip is not included in the bill. This was literally the first time we were explicitly asked for a tip in Spain on our 14 day trip.

Dined 29.10.24. I write this because no one enquired as to the standard of our meal, though I could understand locals were being asked, and as tourists, we felt second best. The booking was sought upon google recommendation as an alternative to Botin and its signature dish Cochinilla (suckling pig) which Galayos opined about on their website. At almost 30€, the portion was a tiny rib cage cut with little meat and certainly unrepresentative of the photo. However, soon after I noticed three plates of larger leg portions headed to a nearby table of locals. We also ordered a salad which never arrived. My wife ordered the monk fish which was nice, however the portion size not great. We felt ripped off and the fact we were polite tourists, offered no dispensation for quality service. The head waiter (a pompous bloke in a dark suit) regularly checked on locals, but ignored us. I would not go back considering the wilful act of serving an insult of a meal reflective of disdain towards towards tourists that help keep places like this...
