Tips for first-time tourists: 1. There are no english menus nor any english speaking servers or deli workers. at least the ones we asked. We just knew the very basics and had google translate so we were fine but be prepared. 2. The main floor is a bar and deli counter service for quick bites and purchases. They DO have sit down with menus on the 2nd and (for parties of 5+) 3rd floors! You have to direct yourself there as there's not really anyone at the front to guide you. We ordered fountain sized (see photo) hams which tasted awesome (duroc was my favorite), the gambas al ajillo, and the tbone steak. All of it was so good! Our server was pretty grumpy and rude though, which felt unwelcoming as we were scrambling with translation. He grumpily rushed us with ordering and explained that it was getting late (although it was only 11pm with their 1am closing time). We later saw him seat another table 20 minutes later without any rush in ordering so not sure what the deal was. Additionally, he kept clearing plates with some food left and as we were eating from them lol. For one of the times, he took my plate as I was still holding my food in my hand ?? I was too amusedly shocked to be mad. Other than that server, it was yummy and such a unique atmosphere. We got some packaged jamon afterwards as souvenirs!

Museo del Jamon is a charcuterie and local eatery with several branches spread around Madrid including this branch on Calle Mayor. This is a tourist friendly place to stop and see various meats, including several varieties of Iberian ham being cut and sold behind the counter. There is also a traditional bar setup where you can buy plates of ham, bocadillo (small sandwiches) with Iberian ham, salami or chorizo. If you visit in the morning, you can have affordable desayuno (breakfast) here, including eggs, bacon, orange juice and coffee. We found this to be an affordable, enjoyable and timely breakfast stop when we visited recently. Everything is quite casual, menus include English and bar staff are patient, helpful and very friendly, making this a convenient place if you want to visit a charcuterie shop and perhaps try some local Iberian ham or other cold cuts during your visit to Madrid.

As we are getting ready to try some Spanish breakfast we got some tostadas, huevo frito y jamón with some good coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. The place during breakfast was very busy and I can’t imagine lunch or dinner. You have the option of eating at the bar or find a seat upstairs. Once you order your food, you take it yourself to your seating area. The bacon was thick as an English bacon, the eggs were fried (sunny side up) and coffee was good. We tried going there for lunch but it was so busy and didn’t feel like eating at the bar since all of the seats were taken. Overall the breakfast was good for the price and definitely recommend.

Somewhat still typical! Choises for every type of mood: you can eat standing at the counter, you can order at the counter and then take your food to the saloon in the first floor or you can go to the 2nd floor to order your food from the comfort of a table! There's also possibility to take away! The prices are reasonable and the difference between seating versus eating at the counter is acceptable! The saloon in the first floor is free for you to take your food at least outside the meals time. The portions are usually generous. Typical Spanish classic tapas bar - very noisy, litter in the floor and very effective service.

The layout of the place is nice. On one side you have a quick counter to have sandwiches and drinks. On the other side you have the to go area and butcher side. Underneath there is a secret eating area and then also some tables upstairs. I got a Jamon sandwich to go, it had a couple slices of ham, a slice of cheese in a croissant. The sandwich was alright, I think it was overhyped by many. Over the I also got to go packages of meat: Jamon Bodega Tio Felipe, Chorizo Iberico de Bellota "El Piornalego" and Salami. The meats were amazing though. Overall great restaurant and employees.

We were looking for a snack to bring with us on our flight to Porto and found this place scattered throughout the city. We decided to give it a chance. We didn't get any Jamon as we were looking for a snack to bring on a flight so this may not be a helpful review. We got a pasty filled with meat and it was okay. The pastry wasn't flaky enough and there wasn't enough filling. Service at the counter was really nice and friendly. The price was also really cheap for the amount of food we got. I would come and try other things to give this place a more well rounded review.
