This place is totally overrated. Honestly, you could get a much nicer place with excellent location at around the same price or possibly even cheaper than this hotel. My husband and I booked a standard room with a queen bed. We were told upon check in that there was only a standard room with a twin bed available and if we wanted a queen bed, we would have to upgrade to a larger room with a terrace. The upgrade was just 50€ which we didn’t mind, but when we got to the room.. we were shocked at how small it was. And this was the larger upgraded room! I can’t imagine how tiny the standard room would have been. Size of the room aside, everything was just horrible. The room was so so hot and stuffy. The aircon doesn’t work! It was 37 degrees celcius outside and we just were put in a foul mood. We read some comments that said we have to call the front desk to turn on the aircon?Seriously, who does that ? The bed was super horrible and really really squeaky. Receptionist told is the upgrade would give us a queen sized bed but it wasn’t a queen bed, it was a double. My husband and I aren’t very big or tall (we are Asian size), so I can’t imagine what an uncomfortable squeeze it would be for people who are taller and with larger physique. Oh and let’s get to the bathroom. The hand soap bottle was empty and the shower gel/shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower was also almost empty. The toilet bowl was just ridiculously placed. It was so close to the sink table that every time you sat down in the bowl, your thigh would be pressed up against the cold table. It was just very awkward and something so simple and yet so poorly constructed, I couldn’t comprehend. Shower was a bit small to move around in but at least the heater and water pressure was pretty good.
The room came with a reading chair and a desk (huge cracks all over), lighting was poor in the room too. Terrace was okay, but awkwardly close to the next room. Walls are very thin, so you can hear someone sneeze that’s a few doors down. Breakfast in the morning wasn’t great but it was decent enough with a good amount of bread and fruit options.
We called reception at 11pm to request for a set of cutleries and we were told to pay 9€ because it was a Saturday? Who pays to use a fork and spoon from a hotel? This is the first time we’ve experienced this throughout our multiple trips around the world.
Receptionist wasn’t friendly at all and seemed very unhappy when I asked if it was ok for them to hold our bags for a while. She still took our bags but was very hostile and had a very obviously annoyed look which she didn’t even bother to hide.
Oh! At least the security guard is nice 😊
This hotel left a very bad impression for us as first time visitors to Madrid and we do not recommend it to anyone. Honestly, search a little more and you’ll find much better places to stay nearby.
Pic reference for the toilet bowl because I cannot get over how ridiculous it is. The person that designed this room either has no left leg or didn’t...
Read moreI've been to other NH hotels, and I truly believe that this one is the most elegant I've seen so far, and yet the one where I've felt the most unsatisfied by the service provided. The hotel does not have a garage, but in reality there is a garage in the same building, called NH Nacional. Hence, it is the parking where all clients are going to park. And there is an elevator that connects this garage directly to the hotel (not only to the reception floor, but also to all levels of the building, so directly to your room). Ok, the garage is managed by a third party, but the hotel could provide a better service for the clientele! I've been to hotels with a totally similar situation, and they always had some sort of agreement with the parking company, so that clients can pay directly at the reception desk, and have their tickets validated by the reception. In this case, the hotel does not provide any kind of assistance to the clients, so you have to take care of everything with the parking company directly. Unbelievable. This is why I would not suggest to stay here if you travel for work, since you are going to face this (totally avoidable) inconvenience, by having to interact with the parking personnel, and their work schedule probably will not align with yours... The hotel management could do much better than this! Check-in experience also was not very nice, since the personnel looked understaffed with respect to the volume of clients arriving at the same time. Poor service, that does not resonate with the elegance of the ambient and the image they are...
Read moreThe location of this hotel is amazing! It is right next to the Serreria Belga, Reina Sofia museum, Bosque de Retiro, Atocha Train Station, and down the street from Museo del Prado.
I went for work and the wifi was excellent and I had no connection issues. A part of the lobby area was under construction but the other part was comfortable and aesthetically pleasing. Drinks and food options at the lobby was also versatile and very delicious (order a mai thai if you want an extra good time!)
The breakfast options were fantastic and I love the option that you can order an omelette if you're not feeling the scrambled eggs they have provided. Staff both at the breakfast and front desk reception were SOOOOO NICE.
Rooms had wonderful and modern furnishings. There was some odd stains here and there on the walls but I had absolute no complaints because the room was thoroughly cleaned and mopped everyday by friendly (and thorough) cleaning staff. Air conditioning also worked wonderfully and I was very comfortable during the summer heat but I wish I could have got it colder (my preference is freezing hehe). Bathrooms were clean, and had no issues with temperature of the water and shower design.
Everything was great except for the location of my room - it was right above the mcdonalds that is open 24/7 so when the club around the corner ends you get all the loud noises and partying yells right below. If you get a room make sure you get either a higher level floor or non-street facing room :)
Highly recommend you to stay here, you really...
