Booking and Check-In:||My boyfriend and I visited Mallorca in April 2017 and did not have the best experience at this hotel. We originally booked our room online through the company's site because it said they offered perks like discounts, free gifts upon arrival, free wifi and amenities. However, when we arrived at the hotel they did not take any of these into account and we had to show a personal copy of our booking details to receive wifi because they were not able to find theirs. While this was a minor and easily solved, it is strange the hotel did not have it on file. ||||Room:||Our room was okay. There was a massive crack in the balcony door which we promptly reported to staff. The view, as others have mentioned, was mediocre and faced another building. Additionally, the air conditioning did not seem to work. It wasn't a big problem for us because we were mostly there at night when it was cooler, but still would be something to consider for guests coming in warmer months. Additionally, while there was a kitchen with a sink, microwave, and hob, there were almost no utensils. We had a couple plates, forks, and knives, but no bowls, pots, or pans, spoons, etc. The bathroom was also quite odd because it didn't have a proper door. instead, it was just panel of glass that swung open. Additionally, our shower leaked in our bathroom whenever someone used it creating pools of water on the floor. Finally, there was an issue with the latch on our door which inhibited it from locking all the time. When brought up to staff, they ignored our request for a new room.||||Location:||The hotel is located right on the beach which is nice and convenient. There are loads of restaurants and shops around it. However, as others have said, it is in a very German area and more signs are in German than Spanish which we found interesting. It is easy enough to get into Palma, with the bus stop being located just down the street. However, to get to other areas of the island you would either need a car or tour.||||Worst Experience:||During our stay at Bahia Real, there were several occasions where we saw police either inside or escorting people out of the hotel. On our first night, we were coming back from dinner and as soon as we exited the elevator we saw blood splattered across the floor and a fire extinguisher on the ground next to it. We immediately went to the front desk to report the scene. While the employee promptly responded to the manner, she had no idea this occurred and mentioned she believed it was because of a different drunk patron. While we don't know what transpired, a couple hours later we saw the police on our floor presumably removing the patron. However, because of this event and the issues with the lock on our door, we requested to be moved to a different, safer room and were denied the request even though the hotel did not appear to be full. All and all, the event just made us question the security of the hotel in general and if they had CCTV cameras at all.||||Positives: ||While I would personally not return to this hotel, there are some positives about the property. First, it is a really good value and very clean. The rooms are modern and relatively comfortable. Additionally, it is located basically on the beach and close to public...
Read moreWe have just returned from this hotel after a spending a week there as a family of 4 (2 adults 2 kids). We were not that impressed, the room was reasonably clean but with many faults...leaking fridge (although this was fixed when reported), extremely poor water flow from bathroom tap and shower, awful air conditioning unit with almost no effect. Cooking/eating in the apartment was a challenge as we were only provided with 2 mugs, 4 dinner plates, a small saucepan and minimum cutlery. I had taken cereal for the kids breakfast but we had no cereal bowls to eat it from so had to buy some disposable ones from the supermarket. The beds were a decent size but mattress was as flat as a pancake! I had emailed ahead to ask for an iron and ironing board but this was not provided as they have no irons to provide...was it too much to ask for an email back to let me know prior to us travelling? There was no kettle either. The apartment was cleaned on most days and towels changed. Reception staff were polite and quite helpful.||The hotel lobby was dark and had no appeal at all, for those walking by you would think this was just a dingy office! ||On the plus side the location is fantastic for the beach which is just 2 mins away, there are lots of bars, restaurants and supermarkets around but if you're looking for somewhere peaceful, or are easily disturbed from your sleep, this is not the right place for you. There are frequent buses to various locations from just around the corner including the Palma Express service every 15mins which gets you into Palma in around 30 mins.||Overall, if all you're looking for is a place to sleep this might be ok, but if you like your creature comforts and for those with very young children I would not...
Read moreShort version: avoid this hotel unless you are a German teenager or young adult.
Long version: If the room costed about 50 euros per night I wouldn't complain that much. No matter how expensive booking a hotel in Mallorca can be, there is no excuse. When you pay 120 euros per night, you expect some basic amenities which were not there.
Details: The check-in took an illogical amount of time. The person working at that time simply did not understand that people that have travelled are usually tired and that he should be as efficient as possible. Instead he started chit chatting with the previous client. In the room there was a smell of cooked fish. The smell was comming from the lid of a casserole which obviously hadn't been washed. There were ants everywhere in the room, even on our beds. We informed the receptionist and, thankfully, the cleaning lady was able to get rid of them the next day. But this should have happened before we entered the room. When we entered there were no towels. They were provided to us later that day, after we asked for them. The mattress was the oldest mattress I have ever slept in, curving inwards. There was minimal sound-proofing, meaning you could hear all the drunk German teenagers returning to the hotel at 9 in the morning. The WiFi had a speed of 1Mbps. In 2024 this means that, practically, there was no Internet. Some lights were not working in the room, including the one over the night stands.
To sum up, this is a hotel ment for people with very low standards and big purses. Please consider booking a different one, even if it is slightly...
