Me and my partner have just had our first holiday to tenerife together and this hotel ruined our experience completely. The 'hotel' of which didn't mention in any of the descriptions that it also rents out rooms and has people permanently living there it was also riddled with cockroaches (including baby cockroaches which means they must have nests too!) they were all in the corridors and the rooms. We were staying in room 114 to start off with and the corridor leading to the room smelled horrendously, it was the most unpleasant smell we've every experienced. The hotel had Airfresheners hanging up in the corridor to cover up the smell which clearly wasn't doing a good enough job, we came back to the room everytime to find more and more cockroaches in there (there was more cockroaches in this hotel than what we seen on the streets our entire stay in tenerife!) We then spoke to reception about the issue to be moved rooms to 222 which we also experienced the same issues, we proceeded to speak to reception again and demand to speak to the manager to be told the manager would be at the hotel at 7am the next morning. When we went to speak to the manager to be told the manager wasn't there and wouldn't be there until 9.30am then a 2nd person came out and said the manager won't be at the hotel until 3pm? Me and my partner proceeded to wait around until that time (missing out on the activities we had planned for the day) to then be told the manager wasn't available as they are busy, they then decided to offer us a €10 breakfast for the next morning (our last day) to which we replied we wasn't willing to accept as we was complaining about the hotel being riddled with cockroaches and wasn't willing to eat from their kitchen and make ourselves unwell. We went back to our room that night to find even more cockroaches in our room and in the draw with all the cooking untensils that you are meant to cook with, we proceeded to complain to reception for the final time to which they still didn't do anything about the situation. We then took it into our own hands to checkout early as we wasn't willing to spend another night there! (This left us on the street for the night as we didn't have the money to book another hotel due to spending our money on activities we were meant to be doing rather than having problems with the hotel the whole time)
It also says on the description of the hotel that it is a beachfront hotel which is straight up lies! It is up an enormous hill nowhere near the beachfront meaning you are having to climb up and down tons of stairs everyday to get to the beach and main area (if you have mobility issue this isn't ideal)
The description also says that it has air-conditioning which both of the rooms we stayed in didn't have! We also experienced the reception staff speaking to a person who lives in the building (the room next to us when we was in room 114) talking about us in spanish laughing and pointing at us as we walked out, this is extremely rude and disprectful.
The pool had missing tiles which is very dangerous as you could hurt yourself (as they were sharp) the pool also had extreme dirt build-up around the edges of it and was extremely slimmy on the bottom (especially where the missing tile were)
The walls were also extremely thin so you could hear the people around you talking/banging, the building is in need of an extreme revamp.
We will never return to this hotel in the future as this is the worst experience we've ever had, we will also be ensuring people we know ect to avoid this hotel if they ever...
Read moreWe had a relatively pleasant stay at Coral Teide Mar. Breakfast was standard as you would expect from a bed and breakfast service, the food was cooked well. We didn't spend much time around the pool, I didn't swim either so I can't comment on the swimming pool. However we did decide to sit beside the pool for a day of rest and have a couple of drinks. This quickly turned out to be one drink and a short lived rest. We sat down with our books to read and I eventually went to order a drink for myself and my Fiancée. I read the cocktail menu and saw one of our favourite cocktails was on the menu (a caipirinha), I was met with disappointment to find it wasn't that, considering one of the ingredients that went into the cocktail was a sachet of sugar you would normally put in your tea or coffee and another being fanta lemon it simply wasn't what was advertised and not a caipirinha at all. It was safe to say that was the first and last cocktail I bought from the pool side bar. Not fazed by the poor cocktail I had just been served I refused to let it ruin the beautiful surroundings within the pool grounds and got stuck into my book while we relaxed. After a chapter or so of my book myself and my partner had realised we were absolutely covered in what looked like very tiny red ants. Neither of us were bitten by these nor were the "ants" interested in our sugary drinks. I'm not actually sure what they were as we were frantically searching Google to find out if we were going to be covered in hundreds of bites. The only search result I could find were fire ants however as mentioned neither of us were bitten so we figured it wasn't these. Regardless of being bitten or not it wasn't very pleasant being covered with these tiny red things all over ourselves and our belongings. We quickly shook off all of our stuff and departed the pool area. During our stay in the room we had a couple of cockroaches appear from behind the sink unit so probably needs a good extermination and clean behind there to get rid of these, however the face of the room seemed clean and tidy. We didn't cook in the apartment and ate out every night and ate breakfast in the canteen so nothing to attract these visitors. Other than this the hotel had great character and seemed clean throughout. It was a shame the cocktails were way below par as we would have possibly tried to find a different spot around the pool and spent a decent amount of money at the poolside bar. Even with the few select issues we very much enjoyed our stay at the...
Read moreThis apartment/hotel was booked through Barrhead Travel for 14 nights and a Tui return flight. It cost over £1000, not a piddling amount, for my birthday. The flight was easy going and took just over 3 and a hàlf hours. Kudos to Tui for thàt. Then came the hell that was the transfers from the airport to the North of the Islànd of Tenerife which on a good day can tàke about 40-45 minutes. It took us 2 hours, thànk God for the àir conditioning on the bus. We had stood in a queue for about an hour waiting on a bus turning up! No reps or nothing to organise anything. It was a mess. We were eventually the last people dropped off at our hotel because the driver didn't know where the hotel was. I had to eventually také my phone down to him and show him thé voucher we had for our stay. With that in hand we went into the hotel and went to our room. Well,God almighty,I thought I had just walked into my Mum and Dad's room, only there were two single beds! Apart and separated by a bedside table. All painted white cupboards and pine bed headboards, and the rickètiest couch it has ever been my bad luck to sit on. Terrible. Don't get me wrong the beds were very comfy and the giant pillows were like a big soft marshmallow. The staff in the hotel are brilliant, so helpful and cheerful. They would do anything for you. But seriously, there has got to be better rooms in this place than this one. Just don't get me started on the bath in the bathroom. It has obviously been in place since the place was built and the plughole has been repaired with what looks like plaster of Paris and it's all cracked and broken. The rest of the bathroom is well, it's a sink plonked in a vanity unit and a big standard toilet that has seen better days. We had a pool view balcony. The pool and surrounding gardens are terrific. Although the gardens are meticulously maintained, the pool and splash pool could do with some help. Broken and missing tiles on the bottom of the splash pool is not a good look.. The mature gardens are gorgeous and I spent my first week trying to find out the names of the trees and shrubs. These also happen to be home to a myriad of birds and other wildlife. All in all it's a 3 star hotel at best a2 and a half star but the staff more than make up for the...
