The only black sand beach that i can say i have seen in Tenerife as this was only my second time there. The beach seems very unusual with the black sand, kinda looks like a massive dirt pit but looks can be very deceiving in this case as it is actually sand and it is just as pleasant to chill out, relax in or even build a sand castle or two. This is a pretty rocky beach and quite slippery as i found out as i tried to make my way to the water to dip my feet in on narrowly avoiding a fall on my ass (this was without alcohol by the way). The beach has a nice little public work out area which i saw a few guys use as they tried to woo the locals showing off their physical prowess but i dared not to try for fear of making them look even better. There are a few shops surrounding the beach with a Hyper Dino Express close by for buying any drinks or snacks and a nice womans shop called "Exclusive" which my girlfriend bought a very nice dress from and a shopping mall just up the road should the local shops not quench that shopping bug. The beach has big hotel right on it's door step called the H10 Tenerife Playa which looks absolutely stunning with a restaurant that offers a sea view to watch all the tourists do their touristy thing or the surfers ride the waves. There is also a big enclosed public pool area close by that if the black sands aren't quite your thing then you can always trade it for man made pools, sun loungers and a bar or two. All in all Playa de Martiánez is well...
Read moreThis is a relatively small very rocky beach, it is amazing for surfing and watersports but the break here is frequently too rough to allow swimming in the sea. The beach is lifeguarded and the lifeguard when we were there loved to blow his whistle to tell people off❣️Adults must hold children's hand near water, no adult above waist height in the sea etc but he was doing his utmost to protect and serve and we have to appreciate that! 🌊 That said there is a lovely vibe, small sandy bit at the top and it is a nice place to chill. A lovely cafe and surf school right on the beach. There is a supermarket (small one) and several gifty type shops very very close by and a big designer outlet too. Some hawkers selling street goods but they are friendly and not at all aggressive barely even approach unless you appear...
Read moreWe came to this beach whilst we were out for our first stroll about the town after our arrival. We were very fortunate that on that day, there was a warning on the coast due to extreme coastal weather which meant the Atlantic ocean was throwing big waves at this little bay. It is a very nice place to sit and watch how the waves break into many directions with the huge cliffs in the back ground. If you are a surfer or enjoy watching the surfers trying to get up on the waves then this is a good spot. If you are looking for a nice beach to sunbathe on and go for a dip, I wouldn't suggest this is right for you as the waves make swimming difficult and the beach is black sand and large stones. But still definitely...
