Stay away from this hotel at all cost. They turned my trip into a nightmare and refuse to provide full reimbursement even after I found a square foot of GREEN AND BLACK TOXIC MOLD next to the bed.
Upon our arrival, my fiancé and I were met with an uncomfortable situation. There was no staff at the hotel. We found an email where it said that the room was on the ground floor so we started looking around but didn’t find anything. We went upstairs and still could not find our room we tried downstairs in the basement and finally found our room next to the hotel storage area. The fact that the room is located in the basement of the hotel next to the storage area which is not stated anywhere on the website when we booked was quite a big disappointment but it was only going to get worst from there. When we opened the door we were greeted to a strong and disgusting odor of mold. The room was exceptionally warm, and there was a pervasive, unpleasant mold odor in the air. We discovered that the thermostat was set to heat mode at an high temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. In an attempt to alleviate the discomfort, we tried to switch it to cool mode, but unfortunately, our efforts were in vain as the cooling function was non-operational. The room was not cleaned properly, we found mold stains on the sealing, dusk all over the places, and we saw a small cockroach. We tried contacting Expedia but the wifi didn’t work in the room. We then try to contact the hotel via my Spanish phone and after 1 hour of calling we realize that the phone leads to the reception were there is no employee (please note that Expedia also made a few attempts to contact the hotel without any response which should give you a general idea of the level of caring / service offer by this hotel). We started looking around in the room and took picture of 3 devices that have been installed to try to reduce the humidity and the mold smell. As we were looking around I found a huge patch of more than 1 quart foot of GREEN AND BLACK TOXIC MOLD 1.5 meter away from the mattress. I took a video of the mold and the different devices put in place to try to cover the smell. I then looked on google reviews and found dozens of 1 stars reviews mentioning the basement hotel room 101 and the strong mold smell. On top of this I am particularly sensible to mold and can have serious allergic reaction so there was absolutely no way we could sleep in this room. As an added bonus my fiancé is claustrophobic so sleeping in a basement was not possible and we would have never rented that room if we had known it was in the basement. Strangely none of the reviews on Expedia for TD mentioned room 101 or the mold issue or the fact that its in the basement of the hotel next to the storage area. After spending 3 hours roaming the streets of Soller with our heavy backpack looking for a last minute accommodation we finally found a place Plaza Soller Hotel which is also available on Expedia for TD. I mentioned to the hotel manager of Plaza Soller Hotel that I had issues with my other hotel and he immediately knew which hotel I was coming from. All for the same price that we had paid for the original room. It was a night and day difference between the two hotels. We went from an horror story to the perfect place. I would also stay away from Expedia as they apparently believe that renting a room filled with mold might be okay and that they need the approval of the owners to...
Read moreI stayed at the Lluna Aqua Soller in September with a friend. I had already informed the hotel that we were not a couple and would like twin beds. We were placed in room 111, which, although it did indeed have 2 single beds, also had a clear glass wall and door through to the bathroom and only a flimsy see-through curtain behind, which was clearly unsuitable for any but a couple on very intimate terms. The hotel representative assured us that all the bathrooms in the hotel were similar, with some not even having a door between the bathroom and bedroom, which was in accordance with the owner's ‘vision’. In response to our protests, the hotel rigged up a solution with a shower curtain and blind, which was functional, though unlovely. ||The room itself was very small, dark and poky and looked out over the terrace of a room on the floor below. There was a miniscule balcony (which included a cubby hole with a disused stove of some sort). The room was overlooked itself by the upper seating area of the patisserie 2 doors down, although an attempt had been made to obscure this with a bamboo-type screen. Because of this, and despite already being dark and dingy, we kept the curtains closed for most of our stay. As far as I can see, there are absolutely no pictures of this room on the hotel website or any of the hotel booking websites. Interestingly, this is the only hotel that I have ever booked through booking.com where the full cost of the hotel stay has been debited from my card before I had even arrived, which was very inconvenient as my friend wished to pay her half of the cost in cash. I can only assume that this is because they have previously had guests walk out when presented with this accommodation. ||The overall air of neglect was underlined by the fact that the sheets, although clean, were un-ironed and wrinkled, the shampoo and body wash dispenser was empty (because it was broken, a fact which was apparently known to the management, but we nevertheless had to ask for this to be provided in bottles), a maximum of 2 coffee pods were provided each day, and we had to request the manager to ask the maid to mop the floor halfway through our stay as it had become very gritty and grimy. The only advantage of this room is that in being at the back of the hotel, it is much quieter than those overlooking the street to the front.||Having said all the above, the hotel has a really good location near to the main square, the gentleman behind the desk in the morning (Tony?) was extremely kind and as helpful as possible, and the breakfast was very pleasant (although we were tiring of it by the end of our stay)||Apparently a new management team has been in charge for the last couple of months, but I think they need to up their game if they are hoping to compete with similar hotels in the area. This is not currently a...
Read moreWe stayed here for 2 nights, late Jan. Weather not so good. The check in is as other people have said, kind of stange to have no one on reception after 2:30, when the official check in time is 15:00. Anyway we arrived early and the room was ready so all ok. We had room 121 which is a Junior suite with nice balcony. I would describe the hotel as "quirky", which is not a bad thing. They are after all described as "unusual Hotels"|| Few issues. No bathrobes, we checked on the web before we booked, but there were none. We asked the woman who was cleaning other rooms and she said they don't have them! There was no bottled water, there is a fridge, it is empty so its not in any way a mini-bar. There is a coffee maker, with nice coffe in pods, but no milk or creamer. These are all small, niggly things, but they do add up I think.|| Having read before some other reviews re the toilet and no door, I checked with the hotel that the suites have a separate door between the bedroom and the toilet, and they do! The room is fine, if a strange shape as they seem to have taken part of it behind the bed for the next room. Beds and pillows all very clean and nice, we had to ask them to secure the two beds together after the first night as they came apart. There is a very big TV, which bizarrely is at 90 degree angle to the bed, which makes no sense as there is a diagonal space in the corner next to the doors of the balcony. Also I only found 2 English channels, BBC World and Al-Jezira, there were dozens of German ones, maybe thats just supply and demand. ||The blackout curtains worked really well and we had two great sleeps, with no noise. I feel like am being a bit picky, but I never leave really bad reviews, I just will never go back. I'm not sure that is the case here. We live in Mallorca, just fancied a couple of days in a different part. The staff were all very nice and hepful, and as you can see its smack in the middle of Soller, eveything is literally on the doorstep.|| I had booked via Booking.com (which is the same basic company as Tripadvisor I think). What is supposed to happen, well I have used the site many times, is that I book online, confirm with my credit card. Then when you arrive at the hotel they ask for the card. This didn't happen, so, when we were leaving I asked do you need my Visa card and they said no its all been done already! |Also I normally expect a receipt or bill, but not here. We didn't have breakfast but when we were about to leave it was raining and the manager gave us a coffee, which was nice. All in all, its a nice place to be, a bit more attention to detail and it would be great, especially the...
