Cockroaches in a 4-Star Hotel Suite Room – Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon
We booked Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon to celebrate my birthday and our baby’s first trip, but it turned out to be the most disappointing and unacceptable hotel experience we’ve ever faced. First, they gave us the wrong bed with birthday decorations, then moved us to a far corner room with no proper view or décor. We accepted it quietly, hoping to still enjoy the day, though the food and service were only average. The beach was nice, but it’s a public beach – nothing exclusive.
We decided to stay one more night for convenience. After an apology with a cake, management offered us what they called a “suite” at the superior room price. But the so-called suite was shocking – cockroaches, geckos, and other insects were in the room, and even a dead cockroach in the washroom. For a Cinnamon property that claims to be 4-star, this is unacceptable and feels like fraud to guests who trust the brand.
This is not just a bad stay – it’s a health and safety issue. Exposing families with babies to unhygienic and poorly maintained rooms can’t be excused as a simple mistake. I am seriously considering taking this matter up with consumer protection authorities and tourism regulators in Sri Lanka because such practices damage not only the Cinnamon brand but also the country’s reputation as a travel destination.
