Srilax — Hotel in Colombo

Don't be fooled by the positive reviews this property has previously received. This property I feel is a tourist trap and a complete scam.|We arrived here on the evening of December 19, 2019 with our bags. We find out at the reception that our booking has been cancelled. We talk to the owner Wikramarichege Kurppu who starts off by saying that our booking has been cancelled for weeks! When I tell him that we only made the booking 1 week ago he tells me that he tried contacting me and could not get in touch with me so he has cancelled the booking.|We had not received any mails regarding any cancellations. When I tell him this he starts shouting saying "We can keep talking till the cows come home, we don't have a room for you" this goes on to the extent that I tell him to stop shouting and talk properly. For which he says he has informed the booking site and has the screenshots for it. I keep repeating to him saying I did not get any mails or communication about the cancellation, for which he says "Kindly leave my property now".|Extremely rude and extremely unethical behavior. I cant believe such people with such cheap ways of thinking run a business which involves...

It's been a long time since I stayed at a place where the managers actually genuinely care about their guests. The Srilax staff is contactable at any given time and responds very quickly, if not immediately. I arrived late at night and the reception wasn't open anymore, but I had no trouble checking in myself thanks to the very detailed instructions I was given a couple days prior to my arrival.

The room (The Middle) is spacious, has very chic interior and was spotlessly clean. There's plenty of hot water, the water pressure is very good and the place just feels like a little luxury boutique hotel. I loved the A/C feature, ceiling fan, guidebooks and complimentary water. The neighbourhood feels very safe and the property itself is double-fenced and very secure.
