RUDEST STAFFFFF We were at cafe kumbuk today. When we entire the cafe the uncle who is working there said us 'If u all are planning to stay. Stay for 2hrs. And make sure to leave in 2hrs cuz it's not nice to come and remind u all to leave. If the place didn't get crowd then u all can stay longer'.
We stayed and even the table next to us which were labelled as "RESERVED" was empty for the entire time no one cameđ.
The staff were giving us side eyes. And even before we asked for the bill they gave it. We paid it. Then again they were giving us side eyes. Our bill was above 8k still they rushed us.
FOR THE CAFE KUMBUK manager I'm telling to u. First all teach your staff the difference between a normal pastry shop and a CAFE.
Cuz a cafe is a place where people stay for hours. People are there to share a moment not to EAT AND RUN. If we were starving we would have hit a pastry shop instead of a cafe. In a cafe if new customers arrive the staff should politely convey that there's no enough space so please excuse. They must not ask the existing customers to LEAVE to serve the new customers.
Please remove the 'CAFE' part if your staff not willing to change their rude attitude. And open a pastry shop if u are chasing money.
The chef deserve a raise in his pay check cuz the food was fabulousđ.
And the staff even took our plates. A full buritto was still there "very rude". Your staff MUST wait till we leave to clean or else we should ask them to clean. The cafe kumbuk was lacking the BASICS of a cafe. What a mere disappointment it was.
Reply(further clarification):
There were 3 of us. Since i was early till my friends come i waited inside and after they arrived we came outside cuz the table i was initially at had RESERVED sign. The outside table were having 2 chairs and since its disturbing to the people passing cuz we added a chair there thats why we came to the table inside. (Next to our table a foreigner came n start smoking too). If u all cant count it's just TWICE. If we are not comfortable we have the ryt to change the table. Isnt it?
U CAN'T LIMIT THE TIME OF A STAY FOR 2HRS SO PLZ. learn the meaning of a cafe.
We thought to stay longer but suddenly u all gave us the bill. Didn't even have the time to click photos that's why we rushed because we were afraid that after paying the bill what if u all ask us to leave so we came out and click some...
Read moreBeautiful environment, terrible service. I came with my wife and son on a Friday morning to get drinks. The place was busy, but there were open tables. An older man/server directed us to a table outside. We sat down and proceeded to wait and wait and no one took our order. Finally, we flagged down the man, and we gave our order for three drinks. Then, we waited for glasses to serve the water that was sitting on the table. My wife flagged down a different server who said he would bring glasses and never did.
We waited and waited and waited some more before the older serve came and asked us to leave the table so that he could accommodate another group. We had never received our order! Confused, I asked him where we were supposed to go. He said, "we have no other tables." We had never received anything! At this point, I told him we were going to leave. I had begun to wonder if they were even going to make our drinks anyway. You can tell by the slowness and the way the servers run around that they do not know what they are doing.
Also, it is completely inappropriate to ask people to vacate a table. We had been there about 45 minutes and had never even had the opportunity to consume anything. Appropriate customer service would have been to say: we are SO sorry. Please sit here, and we will prepare the drinks--complimentary--right away.
Will not be returning here. A much better alternative with excellent foods, drinks, and impeccable customer service is Life's Good Kitchen...
Read moreCafĂ© Kumbuk is a charming little spot that offers a refreshing break from the usual dining scene. The atmosphere is cozy, modern, and invitingâperfect for a relaxed breakfast, brunch, or lunch. It has a very natural, organic vibe with its bright, airy interior and greenery, making it a pleasant place to unwind.
The food is definitely the highlight here. The menu offers a creative variety of unique dishes that you donât often find elsewhere in Colombo. Fresh ingredients, interesting flavor combinations, and beautiful presentation make each plate stand out. From smoothie bowls to artisanal sandwiches and specialty coffees, everything we tried was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor.
That said, itâs worth noting that the pricing is on the higher side, more in line with American or Western cafĂ© pricing than typical local spots. While youâre certainly paying for the quality and experience, it may not be ideal if youâre looking for a budget-friendly meal.
One small observation â Iâm not sure if itâs the most family-friendly spot. At one point, a staff member approached to correct my childâs seating posture, which caught me a bit off guard. Perhaps itâs a cultural difference, but something to be aware of if visiting with kids.
Overall, CafĂ© Kumbuk delivers a high-quality, memorable dining experience with excellent food and a welcoming atmosphere. If youâre looking for a modern cafĂ© experience with unique offerings in Colombo, itâs definitely...
