It was our second stay in this hotel in Geneva (first time it was in July 2018, and the second in August 2021). We knew what to expect: clean rooms with fresh, crisp sheets, towels smelling like it just came out of laundry, and all staff are very kind and friendly. It is also located in a fantastic position, with amazing views of the lake (the jet d'eau is just in front). The boat to the old city (M1), Eaux-vives (M2) and Plage de Geneve (M3/4) departs from just accross the street, but you can also walk for 10/15 minutes to reach the old city/Eaux Vives if it is sunny and nice outside. The room we stayed was a bit old, but this applies to almost all hotels I stayed in cities around Switzerland. I do note that the bathroom in this hotel always feels like it was just renovated (applicable both in 2018 and 2021), with white marbles and tiles. We had gorgeous view of the lake - if you can, get one of the rooms with views. The bed was a bit soft for my liking, as well as the sofas/armchairs (they were uncomfortable to sit on, but maybe it is my preference). Saturday was a bit noisy to sleep with the base sounds reverberating from the bar they have in the basement, and also there was a party boat on the lake blasting music until 7am of Sunday. But of course, the party boat is not the fault of the hotel. We did complain about the noise from the bar and they turned it down, although it was already past 1am and the bar was closing anyway at 2am. I had both the buffet and a la carte breakfast, and it was in general nice food. I loved their avocado toast with smoked salmon and poached egg. Thank you for the...
Read moreClean and well kept hotel with lakeside views and comfortable rooms but the Leopard Lounge bellow is a haunt for the 'escorts' who come onto clients with no respect. The hotel management informed me that the bar does not belong to them but as it is right beneath it creates a very unfavorable impression for me. I went to the Hotel d'Angleterre with my family because of its reputation asa clean and respectable hotel only to discover a considerable 'sleaze factor' in close proximity. I suppose that whatever brings in money is acceptable in their eyes. I am very disappointed in the response pf the desk staff to my feedback and complaint. I just read in feedback from the management that the Leopard Lounge does beyond to the hotel to add insult to injury.
Thank you for your reply Mr Domézo. Firstly It was your staff who told me that the Lounge did not belong to your hotel. Don't ask me why your staff lied, take it up with them. Secondly I was inconvenienced twice when placing an order at the bar for a drink by escorts openly plying their 'trade' so despite your claims of filtering guests in the lounge area and it being the 'place to be' guests cannot spend a tranquil evening without these venal escorts soliciting clients. Your reputation is of a traditional and family hotel where I assumed wholesome values would be upheld. If I am wrong I will choose other establishments to sojourn at...
Read moreHands down the loveliest, most beautiful, most welcoming and generous staff I have ever encountered. My mom and I checked in for two nights leading up to an 8-day guided tour. My very first night in Switzerland I became incredibly sick with a severe infection. My mom went to the desk and asked if they could help us locate a doctor- they had a doctor at our hotel room door in 31 minutes. (Best doctor ever- great sense of humor). He gave three prescriptions that the concierge went and filled at the pharmacy and brought back up to us. Phenomenal, phenomenal customer service.
Additionally, we were welcomed on our arrival with a glass of wine in one of their lovely sitting areas- each table had a beautiful orchid on it. The breakfast was delightful, the coffee delicious. Loved the added touch of the French press in the rooms.
Florence Rabaud was the manager while we were visiting, and she is absolutely lovely. So kind and thoughtful.
I can’t say enough nice things about the management, staff and the hotel itself. Two days was not long enough! I hope we’ll get to go...
