We came here for lunch as part of our walking tour with a guide. The roof top shows views of Stonetown but aside from that, there is nothing good to say about this restaurant.||I asked for a bacon, lettuce and tomato cheese burger. The waitress informed me that they had no bacon which was not an issue. When the food arrived, I was surprised to find no beef but rather a very poor sandwich with a tiny amount of bacon. ||When we came to pay for the meal, we were told at reception that they would accept card as we didn’t have enough cash on us. When we asked to pay by card, the waitress laughed and said they only accept cash as the machine was broken. They asked for our card details in which they would use to transfer money later. We refused to provide our details as we didn’t trust what they would do with our details. We were told that we had to go to an ATM which was a 10 minute walk away. Eventually we paid and the waitress continued to laugh the whole time.||The whole restaurant seems like a huge scam with terrible food. This is a huge tourist trap and if your guide says to go...

The place was good close to a traditional market and very safe but there was things that makes my angry. The service in the rooftop dinner was awful they practically only work for the tip and before we end one of them said that if we want to put some tips that we just need to put it in a especial box that they give us. We were a big group but when we had to pay our drinks the waitress doesn't know it belongs to, he was just saying and saying rooms some already paid their amount some not. In the room the WC is not working at all I've used once and it was impossible to stop the water. We had to sleep hearing the water from the WC. They said that there was hot water I've never found it there was only less cold water. They said that the Wi-Fi covers all the hotel but if you are outsite the reception or the rooftop you can connect properly. The space was perfect, is and arabic, persian style well mixed. There are two lift...

||AUCUNE...

Went there for the rooftop view and because of the good reviews. Were completely let down, it’s an absolute tourist trap beware!! At the end the waiter threatened us that we had to jump from the building if we wanted to leave. But to start the story: we ordered a beef fillet steak medium-rare which is the most expensive dish on the menu. As you can tell by the pictures, it looked and tasted more like a shoe sole. You couldn’t even cut it with the knife. When we let the waiter politely know that we couldnt eat it, he got very aggressive and told us to pay for it anyways. No compromises were possible! Do not go there! We felt very uncomfortable and in the end with the threats even unsafe as tourists!!

The rooftop was quiet, the music was nice, the waiters pleasant, the view spectacular. no complaints! Would highly recommend. After finding out Emerson was all booked up, it was recommended we try the Swahili House for drinks at sunset. We took their advice and had a great time! The view is a view of city skyline all the way to the water. Happy hour drinks were only 4$ for really tasty cocktails. We had amongst us a mojito, marguerita and another with blue Curaçao. All of them were delicious, and made according to the correct recipe. (Which can't be said for some of the other restaurants in the neighbourhood)

This review is about the rooftop restaurant as we did not stay at the hotel. The ambiance is perfectly Zanzibarian, the sunset view is spectacular, the staff are super friendly, and the food is very good. We saw that many customers came for happy hour 4-7p for the sunset and went elsewhere for dinner, yet we found the Swahili food items authentically delicious. Also, they don't have a credit card machine so it's cash only except for hotel guests who can charge their meal/drinks to their room.
