Stayed for 2 nights on the back end of a 2-week safari trip. 1st 2-week vacation in 12 years. Beach waters are clear, warm, and tones of blue - a few steps from the downstairs restaurant and bar area. Gorgeous dark mahogany wood everywhere, valets define service-oriented help (they really are, you won't regret tipping these folks at all, compared to valets in many U.S. urban areas - so, bring your $5 tip money). They keep accurate accounting, have very good laundry services and room turn-down/straightening up as well. We had a corner room with a balcony, walk-out patio/louvered doors and windows. Good plumbing, water-pressure and beds. Many good near-by options for eating, massages and of course, buying tanzanite stones!

An excellent choice to visit the city on foot with all the options of shops and restaurants nearby. By being calm (except at night for the call to prayer that's how it is!). The air of the ocean welcomes you and the sound of the waves rocks you. This former telecommunications relay coupled with the villa of a Chinese doctor will change your mind. The local and vintage furniture are magnificent. The welcome is warm at every entrance and even exit! The attentive staff. The breakfast is excellent: continental, swahili: you are spoiled for choice with an incredible view of the beach. The pool is hot, clean. There are enough umbrellas and deckchairs. The rooms are large, the bed huge and comfortable. The bathtub needs to be refreshed. She dates and it shows. Just like the air conditioning, not efficient enough for our taste. The balcony and the view were lovely. We liked the music band in the evening by the pool.

The fabulously located Zanzibar Serena Hotel in Stone Town has breathtaking views of the ocean, exceptionally friendly and attentive staff and delicious food in the restaurant. Beautifully renovated and presented, this is a hotel with true charm and character. Their pool is stunningly beautiful. Not many hotels have nlown me away like this one. Special thanks to chef Sunil, and managers Kurwa and Daniel and their teams who made our stay so memorable. Highly recommended. We'll definitely return.

Whilst I have rated my experience as excellent, sadly it was far from it, but that was no fault of the wonderful hotel or the fantastic staff, hence my 5 star rating.|My husband & I arrived late on Sunday night. We were shown to our room which was lovely with a fantastic, huge dual aspect balcony. All was well until the next day when we got a call from the UK to say then my father-in-law had been taken to hospital, and we needed to return home urgently. So, I set about trying to get flights home. Unfortunately, whilst trying to get this done the Wi-Fi went down, so I went to the front desk to see what was going on and was told that the Wi-Fi in Zanzibar can be temperamental & they had no idea when it might be back up. I started to panic as my data roaming also wouldn’t work, so with no Wi-Fi I was stuck and couldn’t get the flight tickets I urgently needed. Then the lovely chap on reception called Chriss helped me to hotspot to his personal mobile so I could complete the task I had started on my phone & retrieve the tickets. He then helped me send the tickets to his phone so he could print them once the Wi-Fi came back up.|It was a horrible time for us, but all the staff were so kind and caring, especially Chriss, who was so kind, patient and helpful to frantic, panicky, mad old woman with no tech skills. I will always remember...

Fantastic 5* Customer Service.

Came to Sherena, Zanzibar for the first time but the way Mr Wilfred Shirima (General Manager) was greeting guests, making them comfortable and responding with a Smile was an amazing experience. He went out of his way to ensure Guests are having a truly 5 star experience! Well done Wilfred and your team in the Reception. Mr Sunil (Chef) another superstar in this hotel, came to ask if the food was meeting our expections, upon my colleagues request he prepared delicious and mouth watering Indian Food (Jeera Rice, Tarka Daal, Mix Veg curry, pappodams) and ensured that every minute details were taken care of. He made Aalo Paratha as per my request and always willing to go that extra mile to help and support Customers. Johanas is very friendly and helpful. He ensured that we are happy and comfortable at various stages.

I have been to other Serena Properties and many ither 5 star hotels around the world, but serena Zanzibar is simply the best. I have a Travel agency in the UK and would highly recommended my clients and other guests to come and stay in Serena, Zanzibar.

All the staffs are very professional.

Thank you and well done team.

I went to Zanzibar Abeid Karume International Airport for a trip to Mombasa via Safarilink, but I was late, and the airline counter was already closed. I had to look for accommodation awaiting to travel the following day, which I finally got at Serena Zanzibar, and it was just wow.||Ally, the reservations manager, was very helpful in discounting my rates. The room was very comfortable, very well aircondiitioned, with a big verandah facing the pool and the ocean. You see all the activities in the ocean just sitting outside in your varanah. Within the room is the mini fridge with Sprite, water, and Fanta as part of the room package.....Very well thought.||I also had the chance to go for dinner in the restaurant. The food was exactly what I wanted.....paper steak with french fries. Very delicious. I took sparkling water based on the barman's advice to ease gases in my stomach, and for sure, I got relieved. | |This is my second visit to this resort, and I highly recommend to all types of clientele looking comfortable accommodation, quality service, and good food.||I will be back very soon. Thank you for the...
