One Ocean Dive Center in Stone Town is phenomenal. My wife and I traveled to Mafia for diving after being on Safari, but found the atmosphere a bit too slow for our liking. We pivoted and went to Zannzibar. Ocean One provided us with 3 days of amazing diving. The staff is incredibly friendly. Sam welcomed us with open arms and Hassan was our extraordinary DM for 6 great dives. We even did two dives with a marine coral scientist trying to slow down our exploration...Pole Pole! We have our own equipment but rented everything other than our masks from One Ocean because we didn't want to drag our stuff all over Africa. We had no issues and I would be happy to rent from them again. The coral reefs off of Stone Town were like non we have ever experienced back in the US or the Caribbean. They are very healthy and full of diversity and color. The Aquarium and Two Stones were our favorite two dives. Going to a 30 m wreck was also really nice. We had been told and had read that Zannzibar didn't have good diving compared to other regional destinations, completely disagree! It may be so, but we will never know and don't regret our decision at all. The bonus was that we got to explore the vibrant and culturally diverse city of Zannzibar and interact with it's incredibly inviting and...
Read moreI had the best experience with One Ocean! 🪸 it is such a welcoming and professional dive company. With three dive centers around Zanzibar, they offer dive trips and courses led by highly experienced dive masters and instructors. I did my Divemaster training with the Stone Town team and am incredibly happy with the entire traineeship. 🦑
I would recommend OneOcean to divers of any experience level because they truly put in the time and effort to personalize trips and make them as fun as possible for everyone. They also provide high-quality gear, and all the dive spots they offer around the island are stunning—my personal favorites being Hunga Reef in Kendwa and Two Stones in Stone Town. 🤿🐠
My instructor, Sam, was absolutely amazing during my Divemaster training. He is incredibly knowledgeable, pedagogical, patient, and fun to be around. With safety and the well-being of his guests in mind, he always ensures that everyone on the boat has a smile on their face while also paying close attention to anyone who might need extra support.
I’m forever grateful to Sam and everyone at One Ocean for all the adventures and the best experience during my traineeship. I would do it again a thousand times if I could!
All the...
Read moreI've been diving several times in the past few months with One Ocean Stone Town and they are top notch! From a divemaster and marine biologist's perspective, Stone Town actually has some of the best diving around since it is far less busy (only a few divers per day versus hundreds in Mnemba) and the coral itself is in surprisingly great condition. No, there are not a ton of huge fish (due to overfishing - what is on your plate?) and the sites are not deep, but that does not mean there isn't a lot to explore. If you know about marine life and want to see more than just big fish, and like to discover the small or hidden creatures that make reefs function, this is for you! It is so relaxing to dive the reefs around Stone Town on the One Ocean dhow.
On a personnel level, the One Ocean staff, from captains and crew to the managers and dive instructors, are warm, fun, friendly, and caring. On a recent dive day the dive staff had to deal with a very difficult diver on the boat - One Ocean remained extremely professional and admirably calm, keeping safety as the priority. Highly recommend diving with One Ocean Stone Town for anyone looking for a different experience from the mass tourism in other parts...
