Travellers Cafe — Restaurant in Shangani

This is a potentially great place on the beach. The setting is so nice and was steps away from my hotel. I visited three evenings in three days for drinks around sunset time. Staff were totally unfriendly, like they’d been forced to work there against their will. The third evening I decided to eat there and ordered a pizza. Big mistake. I wish I’d taken a photo as it was the worst pizza I have ever seen. Burnt on the bottom and dry on top. I was very hungry by the time it arrived so ate some but I should’ve sent it back straight away. I asked for the bill and was overcharged due to them not taking happy hour prices for my beers into consideration. Not sure who owns this place but the staff (including the “chef”) should be sacked and replaced by people who want to...

We were a party of 13 which we know is unusual.

4 of us arrived and asked for a table which we were told would not be an issue. After 10mins, we started to try and arrange the tables ourselves and again asked for drinks.

Food was dreadful. Both pepper steaks returned and removed from the bill. Lasagne was microwaved to death, fish curry caused issues the following day and the chicken curries varied from edible to not very nice. Pizzas were fine. Had to go next door hotel to get more food. It was a complete disaster from service to quality of food. Food all came at different times. We had to ask for food as other people got their food before us. There were only 6 other people in the restaurant.

I had a cheese & tomato sandwich and a banana shake. The sandwich was so dry, there was nothing on it except tomato and cheese, no spread/mayo/pesto. There is a large dining area, all outdoors, and partially covered. The waitress seemed very disinterested, and then tried to say the credit card machine might not work. If you have that problem you should say you are a cash only establishment. Overall it was very disappointing; the only good thing here is that you're beachfront, but there are plenty of other places that are...
