Went there to have lunch with my girlfriend on 31 Jan 2024. Just after our plates have been served, I reached out to the ketchup bottle and as I was trying to open it, the bottle literally exploded in my hands. Both my girlfriend and I have been covered of ketchup. My gf had ketchup in her eyes and had to rush to the toilettes to clean her face. The walls and ground around us were also covered of ketchup. It is clear that we were probably lucky that the bottle exploded because to explode like that it must have been exposed to the sun or been expired for months! Otherwise it would have been food poisoning! After the incident we decided to quickly eat our food anyway as there was nothing to do but to eat and go back to the hotel to wash ourselves. Although it was annoying, we were not pissed off and this only when we asked for the check that things turn bad. The total was quite low, 44k tanzanian shilling (i.e. 18$) as we did not order anything else after the incident since we wanted to go back to the hotel to clean ourselves asap. The cashier said he was sorry and proposed a discount of 10%. I respectfully pointed out that it was equivalent to less than a 2$ discount that would not even cover the cleaning for our clothes. I explained that it would probably more appropriate to apply a 50% discount or to offer the lunch. It is definitely what I would have done. But I said ok and also pointed out that if it was my business, I would not take the risk to get a bad review for such a small amount. That's when the cashier started to become very agressive while calling (supposedly) the Manager. After talking 10 seconds to the supposed Manager of the restaurant, he gave us a 20% discount (i.e. 3.6$). I again said it was ridiculous in my opinion but insisted on paying quickly so that we could finally leave and go back to the hotel, and explained that I would leave a review in line with the commercial acumen of the Manager. At this moment, the cashier started to look at me in an even more agressive way as if he wanted to fight with me. Totally shocking! I write this comment so that if there is someone in charge with a functioning brain in this restaurant, please, take action regarding your staff because threatening clients (who had done nothing wrong) is absolutely...
Read moreCafe late tasted very watery with a weak flavor of coffee and milk. I tried to drink it, but it was very difficult. A staff member at the cashier explained to me how he made it. It seems that he added coffee portion consisting of more than 2/3 and milk portion less than 1/3 (no wonder it was watery!). I think water was added too much; as a result, coffee and milk flavor was taken over by too much water.
He was not willing to re-make cafe late at the beginning, but he kindly accepted my request of making another one when I insisted (sorry!). Unfortunately, the second cup was still watery, so I decided to leave it as it was.
I am a coffee lover and visited most of the popular cafes in Stonetown, but I am afraid to say that this cafe late was exceptionally tasteless. It would be great if the manager could taste it and see if it can be improved.
Otherwise, this cafe looks very stylish...
Read moreREAD THIS PLEASE: EVERYONE under this review board is tripping if you haven’t given them at least 3 stars! I am a raised zanzibari and when traveling back after not being there a while me and my boyfriend had breakfast here and best believer we came back a multitude of times. Their Croissants are actually to die for and I can consume those milkshakes like no tomorrow. They had an array of options for food and the service was absolutely fantastic. The person let us settle before bringing the menu and was super nice in changing a few things around to accommodate how we it was served. I will not lie the crepes are good but i prefer the forrothani instead of here it was a little too soft and the chocolate just tasted like cheap chocolate drizzle. To end this Id like to say when I come to zanzibar again i’ll 1000000% come here again. Please add Nutella to...
