Deposit key card was 200 bhts (promptly given back at checkout). Rental clean towels were 50 bhts each. Shower and toilets were very clean but shared (males and females separated). For me it was misleading as when I booked online, it mentioned our shower as being private, when it wasn't. A 7/11 is located right next to the hostel, which is particularly convenient. It was very quiet in the hostel hallway, but the road side was extremely noisy (bring earplugs and you'll be fine). Very friendly and accommodating staff. The bedroom was clean. The bed was low and Asian standard (on the harder side, but we slept fine as we're used to it and it's better for your back anyway). There were 4 sockets in our room, but none near the bed head. No mirror in the room (would be a great addition imo!). Curtains were stained and didn't stop the morning light at all. AC was very modern and worked perfectly (rare in Asia). There were free hot and cold water 24/7, in the common kitchen (nice for the occasional cup noodle). Also free coffee in the morning, self service. There are a few common areas where you can chill/read/meet other travelers, including a mini terrace upstairs (smoking area too). A few details can be improved in this hostel, but the staff is really nice, the atmosphere is good and the facilities are maintained clean every day. So overall truly great value for money, I'd book again.

TO ALL TRAVELERS: Zee Thai Hostel is an okay place to stay, but the listing was misleading and the service left a lot to be desired. Rooms: rooms were serviceable. Air con was weak in the rooms. Common areas have no air con- meaning when it’s hot, those areas are sweltering and unusable. Industrial shelves in rooms were ugly, but they did the job. At least the bathrooms were nice. Service: service was the worst part of Zee Thai. The cleaning service got our check out date wrong and barged into our room. What if we were sleeping? No apologies either… Btw: there’s no free breakfast, unlike what the agoda listing states… only small cookies that only got replaced once during my 4 day stay. Location: location is not as close to Khaosan road as advertised. It’s about a 15 minute walk. Didn’t mind the distance, but it was deceiving.

We stayed here for two nights in a private room and I have no complaints. We checked in at about 2am off of a long bus and were checked in with no problems. The private room was massive, with loads of space to walk around the bed, which was a mattress on pallet boards. It was fairly comfortable though and the AC worked well enough to keep the room cool overnight. The communal bathrooms were all clean. There's a massive common area and a cool-looking roof top area. They seemed quiet when we were there, although we didn't hang out as we were just using the hostel to sleep before heading to the airport. I have no idea why people in reviews raved about the breakfast - it was some chips, sausages, cucumber, cabbage, bread and jam. The hostel provides free filtered water refills.

First day, when I went to sleep, I found almonds in my bed. It was late, so I had to just sleep knowing sheets are not been changed. But reception lady was kind enough to change it next day on my request. But cleaning staff would not clean it below bed. While removing my bag, i saw how dirty/muddy it was, hair all over and someone’s sox below bed. But, I was still okay because receptionist was polite. Next day, I went to extend my stay, there was another lady now, I asked her if I can pay online as I have limited cash and I’m leaving the country in 4 days. Cash withdrawal is a little hassle for me. And she literally shouted, it’s just little cash, just pay, we have to pay online commission. I couldn’t think anything and quickly paid. Latter, she smiled at me and said people from your country. I thought I misunderstood, maybe it was just her tone like that. While going out I asked her — I didn’t catch your name and she’s like I’m the owner of this hostel, I said lovely, by any chance you have Type C charger, I forgot in my parents bag. And Kik, charger is a private thing, I don’t share my charges, just go down and buy from 7/11 it’s just 200 baht. I was like okay.

Evening for dinner I thought let me try to order food online on grab as I was saving last 5k for emergency scenarios. I even added my card, confirmed with delivery guy if it’s online payment, he said okay. But once food reached, he asked cash!! Maybe I did some mistake while ordering. Right outside reception, I was trying to ask him, if it can be charged online. This lady came shouting and asked me if I have cash, I said I do, but I …. She shouted again, then just pay, he has to go and started saying something in Thai.. I just paid, I didn’t even took a minute of him. And I booked another place for rest of 2 days in Bangkok. In the morning, i packed my bag and went to take shower at 11 as 12 was check out time. I was drying my hair, she came shouting again you have to leave, it’s almost 12. Oh okay I went to room and took my things and left :( Horrible experience!!! I met so many nice people on my one month Thailand trip, but this...

Staff: Very pleasant and friendly||Price: At 160 baht a night, great for your budget||Beds: Huge beds where you can put your backpack at the end and still sleep well(unless you're very tall)||Free Breakfast: Chicken for nonvegetarians, vegetarians have no protein but have salad, fries and over 6 different spreads to go with the toast plus coffee/tea. Good stuff! Also free coffee/tea throughout day||Cleanliness: Staff going around cleaning the bathroom for a big part of the morning. Sufficient number and well-maintained toilets, as also blanket and sheets for the bed cleaned properly ||Common room: Ac almost always on in one of the large common rooms, so good to escape Bangkok heat in May. ACs in rooms go off by 11-1130 am and back on after 7-8 pm. A good place to socialize though they should ideally remove the keep silence poster put up there.||Laundry: Buy fluid for 20 baht and use machines, among the cheapest laundry options I've seen||Water: Free water, but filter broken week i stayed there, so don't bank on it. ||Workout bands: There are 2 sets of workout bands on one of the doors to work up a sweat. Yay for the unexpected find!||Kitchen: Refrigerator and oven plus cutlery, so great for living on takeaway food. Plus special eating area near the kitchen||Lockers: Lockers outside dorms, that wa a little inconvenient||Security: Keycards for all for a deposit, CCTV cameras around. Felt pretty safe. ||Distance: About 900 m from Khaosan. Not on a happening street. There are tons of hostels closer to Khaosan, but on plus side, street is quiet with a 7-Eleven right next door||Overall, great budget hostel that ticks all the key boxes. 2...
