Hotel location was okay except it was located at bridge departures from front entrance which was okay but not pleasant. Hotel facilities were clean and the room was clean also and meets the expectations of the guests. The hotel building was old and basically out dated. For example when the unruly guests were smoking in their rooms the smoke was going through the air conditioning channels into every rooms. Multiple complaints reported to front desk before they took actions into this matter. Although the hotel managements had the non-smoking sign in every rooms and they always reminded guests not to smoke inside the rooms. However, some guests had hard time to obey the rules.House keeping was below the average as some of the house keeper were cleaning the room perfectly and within the standard and expectations of the hotel managements. However, there were at least two ladies as the house keeper that were not doing the house cleaning correctly and I had to request for cleaning the room, towels, toilet papers, and soaps late at night when I was going back to my room again. Once I noticed that the lady house keeper took the toilet paper role out of my room and I had to request for toilet paper at night since she took it away from my room while incorrectly cleaning my room. I never could understand why she did that but I reported to front desk. Front desk Staffs and other facilities staffs were very nice and polite when answering my questions and helping me to get around the city and the sight seeing. They were very helpful and responding to my claims and or complaints promptly and correctly. Kennita was the lady at front desk whom she helped me from the first night what I need to the last day requesting for a taxi for me to the airport was extremly polite and nice and I greatly appreciate her help to make me enjoy my stay into that hotel. Kennita deserves to get promoted to the management position in that hotel management as she was performing her duties in excellent way which was extraordinary, I personally have special respect for kennita and wish her the best in her duties. Breakfast was not that great. It was mostly cold and the kitchen crew appreantly did not know how to handle the breakfast period time in the morning properly. I requested for egg to be prepared for me and they said that they don't have time to get my request and I have to eat whatever is there as a buffet. They did not have enough supplies to keep the hot food warm and pleasant and the hot foods were mostly cold. Hotel management or the hotel manager seams like they were not paying close attentions to all the deficiencies within the hotel and supplies. Therefore the hotel staffs were struggling to get things done and seems like they were under pressure. As I mentioned above most of the hotel staffs were extremely nice and polite. Please note my comments is the fact that I personally experience during my stay in that hotel. My comments is only for hotel managements to improve their facilities and provide supplies and training to their staffs for improvement and better guests appreciations ,stay, and improving the rating for this specific hotel. I hope my comments would help them to bring this rating to outstanding. Thank you and enjoy your stay...
Read moreI stayed here Feb 14 - 18, 2023. This was once a cool, hip hotel but it's in a serious state of disrepair. Starting with the good: staff were great and the check-in process was effecient. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. That being said, I did notice that the hotel was a bit understaffed, which, to be fair, is an issue happening worldwide in the hospitality industry. My room was on the 4th floor, which is the top floor. This was by far the noisiest hotel experience I've had in a long, long time. I didn't expect this much noise at this price point. It's VERY loud. Four nights of trying to relax and sleep with the heavy streetnoise was unbearable (and I use earplugs and a sleep app on my phone). When I entered my room, I noticed that I had no towels of any kind...and no hand/body soap. The floors in my room were also a bit dirty. The bed linens had multiple stains. The room looked old and worn with previous evidence of water damage on walls and ceiling. The very small shower/tub combo was very unusual and not a great set up and a little awkward to use. The room smelled a bit musty. The hallways also smelled a little damp and moldy. Lots of problems with mosquitoes in my room, too. On the 3rd day of my stay, Bangkok experienced heavy rain. I woke up to find the elevator foyer on the 4th floor with quite a bit of water. There were several buckets collecting water and several ceiling panels removed. The floors were very slippery. My guess is that this is a very common occurrence at the Metropole. Amenities: My reservation included the daily breakfast buffet - the breakfast was fine although quite limited. Not a lot of hot options, unfortunately. The pool is narrow and not very deep. I used it several time and never saw another person in the pool area. The water was a little murky and not as clear I would have liked. What was supposed to be hot/jacuzzi tub in the men's spa area was broken during my stay. The spa showers were nice but soap/shampoo containers were always empty. Location: This hotel is NOT within walking distance of the BTS or MRT. You're at the far end of Soi Thong Lor and need to walk 15 - 20 minutes to the nearest BTS station. You will need a taxi of some kind to get you around. However, there is a water taxi stop just behind the hotel which is a fun, cheap, and convenient way to get around but the water taxi service ends at 7pm. I DO NOT recommend this hotel to other travelers. During my 6 week stay in Asia, this was the only hotel that I was wholeheartedly dissatisfied with. There are better options at this price point...or just spend another $20 - 30/per night and stay at one of the major chain...
Read moreScammed by the Metropole. I would STRONGLY advise avoiding this establishment. The service here is truly appalling, far from what one would expect from a hotel in Bangkok and far from what you would receive at a competitor. As per Thailand Pass requirements at the time, I paid 5800THB to the Metropole for 2 Covid-PCR tests and an airport transfer; the hotel is then supposed to provide confirmation of this for your Thailand Pass application. This payment was sent in early April 2022. Despite sending dozens of emails to the reservations team over the course of multiple months, I would not hear back for weeks at a time. On the rare occassion they would reply, they continually pushed back the date I could expect my confirmation, leading me to believe they were never going to send me the confirmation and had simply taken my money.
After Thailand Pass rules changed to no longer require this confirmation, they promised me a refund. Once again, despite chasing them up constantly, it is now almost July and my refund has still not been received. The Metropole staff continue to play the same games, leaving emails unanswered and only providing further delays to when I could receive my refund.
I continue to believe that the Metropole have no intention of returning my money to me. Even if this is not the case and there has been a misunderstanding, however, I would strongly advise against staying. How the service team at a hotel could let such a misunderstanding continue for almost three months shows a complete lack of care and understanding for the customer. I dread to think how they would deal with the concerns of future guests for issues even slightly more trivial than the hotel’s mishandling of over $160 of their guest’s...
