Dined here a little after 2 p.m. Thursday 07 Sep 2023. I had phoned ahead to make sure of their location and that they were open. The place was small, and empty throughout my time there. The restaurant is clean, has 6 plain tables which can seat 4 persons each, and there are scenic wall paper murals, decorative dishes on the walls, and some accoutrements overhead in an Indian theme, as was the music.
I was brought a nam pao bottle of Crystal (Crystal bottled water) with a glass which I did not order. On the bill, it was ฿20, so if you don't want it, don't touch it or advise your server that you don't need it. However, I appreciated it because I rarely have a casual meal without some water on the side.
Started with a small, free papadam which came with 3 lovely sauces on the side, each with a flavour and texture distinct from the others; all of which was served beautifully. The little ceramic pots & spoons the sauces came in were attractive. The papadam itself was good, crispy and tasty, but the dough is not made in house. Papadams can be made with various flours and spices other than just Besan (a.k.a. Gram, a.k.a. chickpea flour). This one was good but nothing special, unlike the sauces which were very good. I'll probably order some of their papadams in the future just because of the sauces. I usually prefer my papadam with a fair amount of caraway seeds, but this makes a good appetizer.
As a starter, I ordered veggie samosas which were outstanding! They were small (4), compact and very crispy pastry which wasn't greasy at all. The veggie interior was a cornucopia of flavours! The server indicated that they were made fresh today. So many warm and bright spices — these were really, really special ! So, as to be not disappointed in the future when ordering these again, I will always inquire, "Were the veggie samosas made fresh today?"
I also had the Dal Makhani. As there are thousands of recipes for this dish, it's difficult to judge if you're not enjoying the version you have. I'm used to versions with a lot of garlic, but this version did not. However, I thoroughly enjoyed their version with the toasty melody of flavours of the black lentils, and will definitely be ordering it again! (Come on! Dal Makhani is Indian comfort food 101.)
As I was deciding which mutton dish to go with, the server recommended the mutton Rogan Josh. Ooh, good call! Cooked & served in a beautiful sauce, this is another winner!
Both my veg & non-veg mains were served piping hot and they were very yummy.
Rather than rice as a starch, I like a bread most of the time. (Although a fragrant, saffron basmati rice is hard to beat.) So I ordered a plain naan bread because I love good bread and I prefer my naan plain. I really appreciate the hard work and time that goes into making a good bread. To me, good bread, of any type, should speak for itself. Their tandoori naan is large, light, soft, slightly crispy with the right amount of chew, and a touch of creamy. So this bread screamed deliciousness! And, it's only ฿40 a piece. Super impressed, I ordered 3 more plain naan to go for when I had finished my meal. I'm sure I will visit this place for takeout plain naan, again and again.
Aside from the above, I had 2 small bottles of beer Singha to go with my meal.
Even though I don't have a vehicle. The chef informed me that there are a few parking spots behind the restaurant. The entrance however, to get to the parking lot, is a bit to the East of the restaurant (approximately 110m) as it's the same road one uses to get to Khlong Tan Train Station.
As this was a lot of food for 1 person, obviously I had a lot to take home, which was packaged up for me very nicely. 🙂
The server was attentive and pleasant. My total bill for all the above was ฿929 including tax, and no service charge!
Aside from takeout naan bread visits, I will be back to...

Read moreI came here for dinner based off of reviews, and although I don’t think ABK is the best Indian joint in Bangkok, the meal was very tasty and filling. I ordered chicken tikka masala, a yellow dal, and mixed vegetable raita.
The tikka masala was very flavorful and the chicken was cooked perfectly. I also appreciated the thin slices of ginger that were served on top. The dal was cooked well, but it was a tad bit underwhelming in the taste department…a little bland. The raita was good.
Overall, I’ll leave ABK with ~4.7/5 stars. Food is solid—and I think I may have had better luck with a biryani than with the dal—and service atmosphere...
