This hotel is very close to a lot of the action and night walking market/street in the old city, so really great location whether you want to head north or south, very walkable area.
Rooms are clean and they offer family rooms that have 1 king and a twin which was a great option for us as we were traveling with a 6 yo. Bathrooms are also clean, good water temperature for showering, pressure was ok. The room has a lot of lights but it a cement/urban feel so it is quite dark overall once you get up to the rooms. Our family staying in the room across the hall said their room as quite dark as well. Your room key powers your lights/airconditioner so be aware of that. Rooms are equipped with a refridgerator, free water, basic bathroom needs (shampoo, body wash). Decor is trendy/urban in feel.
They have a great pool 1.3+ meters so over the head of a standard 6 yo but it's mostly shaded which is REALLY nice in the thick of the day if you don't want hot sun on you.
No laundry service on site, but they will guide you down the alley to the main road and across the street where there is a tourist office/laundry where you can drop your items. If you drop your items off in the morning, they'll be done by 5pm - cost 60 baht per kilo (very good price). The tourist/laundry office did a good job with our laundry.

Read moreWe stayed 3 nights during the flower festival and found it a mixed experience. The hotel is well located down a quiet lane but our taxi couldn’t access it because of roadwork. It's easily walkable, though, and I’m sure staff will help with luggage if you need. Our bed was comfortable, the shower, ac, and mini frig worked well, and the room quite clean – what we could see of it since lighting was so dim! There's also a nice pool for cooling off which we appreciated. Unfortunately, there was a very strong stench coming from the bathroom drain which permeated the whole space and didn’t go away, and the spray housekeeping used to mask it wasn't up for the job. The hotel was fully booked so we just stayed out late every day. I don’t see other reviews mentioning this so I’m guessing it was just our room. If you’re given a ground-floor room on the back of the hotel I suggest you check it before committing, but in all other ways it was...
Read moreSo happy to have found the Thapae hotel. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I arrived early morning so my room was not ready. They were so gracious in offering for me to use all of the amenities (shower available to use and pool) and to secure my luggage while I went out for the day to tour the old city. While there is no restaurant on the premises there are plenty of places to eat or get coffee within easy walking distance. ||I would say the hotel had a very urban chic feel to the place. Loved the rooms and location. The hotel is so conveniently located to all things within the old town. The hotel is tucked away down a short drive/alleyway so there is a sense of real privacy to the place. The hotel swimming pool is on the ground floor and looks as inviting as the pictures on their website. The room came with complimentary water bottles every day. ||I would definitely book this hotel again if I ever return...
