⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I entered Lone Star BBQ recently, as I enter all restaurants, striding in as a card carrying Scottish person, with red-tinged hair and an incomprehensible accent, wearing a kilt, and accompanied by the faint skirl of bagpipes... however all that was swiftly to change. On taking the first bite of pulled pork I was shocked to find that I was now wearing a pair of leather chaps and a 6 gallon hat. 😳 After consuming the mac n cheese I began a hastily-constructed wall to keep the neighbouring diners out of my portion of brisket (and loudly proclaiming that they would pay for it). Around me I saw others eating spoonfuls of the BBQ sauce straight, and I felt a strange compulsion to join them... Upon reaching the dessert section of the menu I had a sudden, sweet epiphany about the true meaning of being as American as Apple Pie, and noticed that I was now obliged to respond to every “Thank You” with a smize and a “You’re welcome!” ☺️
I left the restaurant whistling “Proud to be an American”, and as my meat-sweats subsided and I unhitched my horse to start the long journey back to Wat Ket, I reflected on the true happiness that had been brought to this area of the country by a little smoked meat and All-American wall art. Wouldn’t life be better if we all had a little American in us? 🤔🇺🇸

Read moreDelicious BBQ and a nice owner who cares about making good food. He's a new restaurant owner, so he's got a few things to smooth out, but I absolutely enjoyed my meal and the overall experience. I had the Pulled Pork, the Ribs, and the Duck. My favorite of those three, as I expected, was the Pulled Pork. Sweeny, the owner, also gave me a taste of the Beef Brisket and the Pork Loin, both of which were amazing. Next time, I'll have the trifecta of Pulled Pork, Pork Loin, and Brisket. The flavor of all the meat was smokey good. I understand why he's serving duck, and it's great to have something non-standard, but I would have liked a bit of chicken instead. There is plenty of delicious BBQ sauce available to add to everything, but also a Thai spiced version of the same sauce base that was spectacular. For sides, I had the Lime Coleslaw and Cornbread. I very much liked the freshness of the coleslaw, but liked it even better when I took a bite of meat, sauce and coleslaw together. The cornbread was good, but every cornbread in my life will be compared to my grandmother's - and her's still wins. I look forward to going back. I'm happy to have Lone Star as an option in Chiang Mai.
If you're driving a car, I suggest parking out of Suthep Road toward Wat Suan Dok, and walking down the lane to Lone Star. The soi is quite tiny and parking isn't so easy, but it's just a short walk to the...
Read moreOur first time at Lone Star BBQ and everything was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
I ordered Bacon wrapped tenderloin with a side of Mac and cheese, while the husband, got a plate of pulled pork and Texas beans for his sides.
Aside from the meats, which we came here for, the Mac and cheese was the bomb! We also had sweet iced tea for our drinks. They came but they weren’t as sweet as we expected (grew up around family who were from Dallas and Houston, so we expected sweet, sweet southern iced tea).
Reminder: no parking for cars. Since our motorcycle had a flat, we had to take the car, we did park at the opposite street at Suandok Place for 20baht, and just walked a couple of meters. So, it’s really not a downside at all!
Great points: The BBQ was good!!! Serving size was also good!!! Service was amazing, owner and pit master were both very attentive. Atmosphere was chilled out and laid back.
Downside: get here early to get the brisket!!! They opened at 5:30 and when we got here at 6:45 pm, they were already...
