Although the hotel describes itself as a 5-star property on its official website, the service we experienced—particularly the miscommunication and lack of professionalism at the front desk—fell short of that standard.
During check-in at Jasmine 59 Hotel, I informed the front desk that it would be my husband’s birthday the following day and asked if there might be a small surprise arranged. The staff member warmly responded, “I see!” and, while handing us the room key, told us that breakfast was included. Since our original booking did not include breakfast, we were pleasantly surprised and assumed this was a thoughtful gesture from the hotel. We even asked about breakfast hours, to which she clearly replied, “6–10 AM.”
However, the next morning, when we went to the restaurant, we were informed that our room was not on the breakfast list. I returned to the front desk to clarify, and the staff stated that our booking did not include breakfast. I explained that the staff member from the day before had told us otherwise and asked whether it might have been a complimentary gesture. Instead of investigating the matter respectfully, the staff questioned us as if we were trying to take advantage of a free service, even asking, “Are you saying our staff gave you complimentary breakfast? Just for one day, right?” The tone and manner were uncomfortable, leaving us feeling doubted and humiliated.
Later that evening, we spoke again with the original staff member. She insisted it was a “misunderstanding” and even asked if we had misheard her. This was incredibly frustrating. It made no sense that we would have asked about breakfast hours unless she had first stated that breakfast was included. Furthermore, in most hotels, if breakfast is not part of the reservation, staff typically clarify this and offer the option to purchase it. In our case, she said nothing about additional costs—only the breakfast hours—so it’s clear this was not a misunderstanding on our part, but a misstatement on hers. She later claimed she had said our booking did “not” include breakfast and that we had misheard, which felt like an unfair attempt to shift the blame.
That night, we found a small birthday cake placed in our room, which we appreciated. However, it did not make up for the discomfort and mishandled communication we had endured. We sincerely hope the hotel will prioritize clearer communication and stronger accountability in the future.
On a positive note, we had washed some clothes and left them in the room to dry. When we returned in the evening, we found that housekeeping had kindly provided a drying rack and neatly hung our clothes. This was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture for which we are genuinely grateful.
In summary, while the hotel offers good facilities and some attentive service, the inconsistency in staff communication and the way the situation was handled did not reflect the standards of a true 5-star experience. Facilities and housekeeping alone could easily earn this hotel five stars. But the front desk interaction was disappointing enough to significantly affect our...
Read moreour stay is 10 days 9 nights, before we book we did some research that our room type can be equipped with washing machine, so we asked for a room with washing machine during check in. but the staff said those rooms are just for long stay guests, and THAT staff said by long stay she means 1 year stay... i am not buying that but we can do nothing. and she said she can try to ask their staff to move a washing machine to our room... can a washing machine come and go this easy? not sure, but we end up getting none. ** update: hotel informed us on the next day we can change to another room, didnt expect that they upgraded us to suite room, in which washing machine is included.
the shower drain works poorly, puddle of water at our feet just at the beginning of shower and overflow to the bathroom floor. staff came and dismantle the floor drain grating and it turns out was blocked by unhandled hair... great hygiene concern ** update: the shower drain in new suite room is also not draining properly.. maybe a fault drainage design.
the tuk tuk we called to get us back from main street arrived 10 mins after we called... when it is at night (1130 pm), raining, and this alley bearly bothered by traffic so i dont see why the 10 min wait. if it is not rainy or not that quiet at night i would hv walked and arrived hotel before the tuk tuk leave the hotel ** update: at some time, the tuk tuk will be far away from hotel and need to wait 15 mins. we end up walking.
weird sounds and smell at night ** update: inside the bathroom, you can hear people nextdoor talking. like speaking to you thru the pipelines. corridor also have smoke smell.
not that the staffs are rude, but most are also not super friendly. unusual at hotels
OVERALL, we were expecting too much due to the amount of high ratings. if u just want a not so expensive place to stay, you can definitely choose jasmine 59, but i would say you can hv...
Read moreNestled in the corner of a street off Thong Lo station, it was not only very convenient to navigate in and around the area, but it was very quiet. I'd say it takes about 10 minutes if you were to talk straight from the hotel to the station, but the hotel does offer Tuktuk rides which'll get you to the main street, saving 5 minutes or so on your walk. Breakfast was surprisingly excellent; I ended up grabbing a second or third plate every morning. Staff was friendly and courteous. The pool was also private and quiet. With a few sunbeds and a couple of tables, the pool area was never crowded during my entire stay. Granted the shower room and the sauna aren't all that spacious, I hardly ran into other guests there besides my buddies. This entire place felt very private.I wasn't quite satisfied with the way they made up my room, though. Some amenities were still missing and didn't feel as tidy when I came back in. I suppose this is relative an easy fix with implementing additional training with the staff. The only pet peeves I had about the room was that although it was very spacious (I did get the larger room,) furnishing seemed somewhat lackluster all the while the TV stand was awkwardly positioned in the middle of the room. Compared to the room, the bathroom space seemed disproportionately smaller especially the wash basin area. Lighting and the room temp were easy to control.Overall, it was an excellent stay for the price. I definitely recommend including the breakfast when you...
