Dining at Kohaku Omakase was an unforgettable experience that truly exemplifies the art of Japanese cuisine. From the moment I entered, I was enveloped in an ambiance that promised a unique culinary journey.

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly Chef Sax’s exquisite taste. Each dish presented was a harmonious blend of flavors, textures, and colors, showcasing the freshness of the ingredients. The chef's ability to elevate simple elements into extraordinary creations was remarkable. Every bite was a delightful surprise, making it clear that an immense amount of thought and care went into the menu.

What impressed me even more was Chef Sax’s deep knowledge of his craft. As he presented each course, he shared insights into the origins of the ingredients and the techniques used in preparation. His passion for the dishes was evident, transforming the meal into an educational experience as well as a culinary one. It was clear that he not only understands the principles of flavor pairing but also respects the traditions of Japanese cuisine.

Kohaku Omakase is a true gem for anyone seeking an authentic and memorable dining experience. The combination of the chef's exceptional taste and extensive knowledge made for an evening that I will cherish. I wholeheartedly recommend Kohaku Omakase to anyone looking to indulge in the finest flavors of...

We had such lovely dining experience at Kohaku Omakase! We opted for a late lunch and we were seated by the window and we really appreciated the natural light.

Chef Wit (if I spelt his name correctly), was absolutely amazing! He shared a lot of insights on both the ingredients as well as the dishes. Including sharing a little more about it his love for Japanese ingredients and his stint in Osaka.

The quality of the ingredients was excellent - they’re flown in directly from Japan at least 2 times a week. The meal was well paced and even though we had 2 different menus, 12 & 15 course.

Our favourites of the meal was: Masaba Isobe Maki Ankimo Mchikari Yaki Kohada Aka Ebi Chu-toro Shoyu Tsuke Uni Kasatura with Yuzu Sauce (this was so light and fluffy, and everything was made in-house including the deliciously tangy Yuzu sauce!)

Service was prompt in clearing the empty plates and refilling the tea, small touches that make a big difference!

Note: They are currently having issues with their card machine and had requested a cash payment. This was actually a deterrent for us confirming the booking as we do not fancy carrying that much cash around. However, our hotel was kind enough to call up the restaurant and we were updated on another payment option which is to pay by card via a...

Kohaku offers an exquisite dining experience that combines traditional Japanese elegance with a modern flair. From the moment you step in, the minimalist yet sophisticated decor and the attentive service set the tone for an unforgettable meal. The chef’s expertise shines through each course, presenting dishes that highlight seasonal ingredients with meticulous attention to detail. The sushi is a standout, with the fish delicately fresh and paired beautifully with perfectly seasoned rice. Each bite feels like a journey through flavors that are both subtle and profound. What truly sets Kohaku apart is the sense of intimacy and interaction with the chef, who prepares each dish with precision and passion right in front of you. (I came here for my birthday which was extra special where the chefs broke out into a Happy Birthday Song) For those seeking a true omakase experience, Kohaku strikes a perfect balance between authenticity and innovation. It’s a must-visit for sushi aficionados and anyone looking to indulge in Japanese cuisine at its finest. Do not under any circumstances, miss the Mushi Awabi with Kimo Sauce!

I encountered some challenges while attempting to make a reservation, as the booking process proved to be rather intricate. Communication via phone was quite arduous, often requiring multiple attempts before receiving a response. Additionally, to secure a reservation, I had to establish contact through the LINE app and navigate through several steps to complete the payment. : Visiting the establishment posed its own set of difficulties, as it is situated within a hotel building. Upon my arrival at the shop, there was a waiting period, and I noticed the absence of a prominently visible receptionist. : Unfortunately, the taste of the food did not meet my expectations and left me feeling indifferent. The menu heavily featured yuzu oranges, but the chef informed me that certain ingredients were unavailable, leading to the use of more expensive substitutes. However, upon further investigation, it became apparent that these substitutions were not reflected in the higher price. All in all, the dining experience did not leave a lasting positive impression.
