Chareena Hill Beach Resort — Hotel in Ko Lipe

Don't let the fake pictures and fake reviews misleading you, something like, exceptional, great Seaview, best hotel in this island. 4.3 stars review. 100% misleading.

After I saw all the great reviews and photos in Agoda, I decided to book a family room with "grand" Seaview for 3 nights.

I arrived the island by speeds boat at 1pm, the bellboy already waiting for me at the port and help me carry the luggage to the hotel (This bellboy is only plus sign for this hotel). This hotel is located in the far end of Pattaya beach, it took a while to get there from the back road, if you just walk on the Beach, it is 10 minutes walk from where the boat docked.

After I checked in to the hotel, my first impression is this hotel is so old, the stairs lead us to the lobby and the rooms is very narrow and old not not in good condition. You need to walk very careful. The beach in front of the hotel is very dirty full of trashes, I don't think the ever clean the beach in front of of its own property.

My room is on the top floor so have to walk many stairs to get there. First thing I did is walk out to the balcony to check out the :grand Seaview". What a joke, so call grand Seaview actually is partial view of the water. It may had grand Seaview 10 years ago when the view not yet covered by big trees , now the view is very limited like a small windows you can look out the water.(see photos below)

Nightmare Started after I turned on the water, water came out from the faucet and showers was brown and smell bad. I can tell this is due to rusty pipes. The front desk did send someone try to fix it, he let the water run for 20 minutes but still brown. I tell him stop, not wasting anymore water then he left.

That is no way I can use that water to brush my teeth and clean my face. Front desk agree to provide drinking water for us to use but how about showers? We have no choice has to use that dirty water to take shower. My daughters refuse to take showers that night.

Another nightmare is the room is full of small ants. I left my cake on the table, it still warped by plastic bag but inside the cake fill with hundreds of Ants. At that point I make a decision to move out.

I originally booked 3 nights and I already paid. I told the front desk, I want to check out tomorrow due to hotel condition, the hotel told me i need to reach out to Agoda to request the cancellation. I did but Agoda was having issue to reach out to the hotel front desk. Agoda told me no one pickup the phone,

I am not going to wait for the approval of my cancellation, I went ahead booked 2nd hotel in the island for the next two nights even I may lost $240 (two nights), I will not stay in this place any longer. I am not going to let this place mess up my vacation . Next morning, I moved to Ananya Beach Resort. I only paid $169 for Ananya resort, it is only $40 more compared to chareena hill beach resort but Ananya is is much much nicer true 4 stars hotel. The family room I booked has pool access it has 3 levels, 1st floor is living area, 2nd and 3rd FL are Bed rooms. Each floor have it own bathroom. This hotel is next to walking street, move to this place is the best decision I ever made.

I finally got the email from Agoda after few days hotel agreed to refund the remain 2 nights and credit back to my credits card.

Anyway, I wrote this review to warm people do not believe the fake reviews, Stay...

Only two good things about this resort is view and new! Chaleena is one and only on Pattaya beach that located on rocky hill. That also mean one and only with high view by the beach.

I had stay on April 2019 in highest standard villa by bought advance room +tour+one dinner set package. Service from office at pakbara pier is good till arrived island.

Service : All females staffs are very friendly. Most men staffs look grumpy. Met female owner at the day I bought package and a day at resort, she is not very welcome.

Food : Nothing good here. Very Disappointed when Thai cookers make that very plain taste Thai foods. You could walk to eat at restaurant with green table on the beach you can see from villa balcony. They made better foods.

Room : Clean with comfy bed and pillows. Almost 5000baht a night highest standard villa, there was no fancy bathroom or thing else. "highly recommended pay on deluxe is enough" deluxe room also has hammock and nicer bathroom.

Tour : Don't buy snorkeling tour from front deck or resort. They send us to Lipe Corner tour. Need to walk to walking street for meet the tour staffs and walk back everyday. Kinda far and very hot. Long tail boat's captain is one and only staff on the boat who take care 8-10 people. No breif or make appointments for lunch time. Passengers need to call each others for time back to boat.... And yes very poor lunch box. You can buy tour from the desk near resort and ask where to hop to the boat first. If need to walk so long. You skin will burn before dip in the sea.

One of late afternoon, during nap in bed and half naked after tired from walk back from tour. THERE WAS CHINESE TOURISTS COME TO TAKE PHOTOS AND CHILL ON MY PRIVATE BALCONY!!!! THEY ARE NOT RESORT GUESTS. THEY JUST WALK PASS RECEPTION AND STAFF TO MY ROOM. I have talk to those tourist please go from my space. They ignore and keep take photos till finish. Horrible!! Resort still no idea to put the multi-language label to show limit access "resort and restaurant guests only"...

The experience was awful. The only positive thing was the staff, ladies were extremely helpful and they were changing our rooms at 1 am haha. We got our superior sea view room and the door wasn’t locking. They were fixing the problem 4 times but finally they fixed it. Unfortunately that wasn’t the only problem. We saw maybe 10 lizards all together. Our roof had 2 big holes to the outside which crated a path for lizards. Also the bathroom was covered in spider webs and had holes in the roof too so we saw there a lizard. After few attempts to get rid of the insects we changed rooms. That didn’t solve a problem. In other room there was also a big hole in the wall/ceiling and we saw a lizard crawling from there. Bathroom was the same condition as in the previous room. I would say even worse because water coming out of the sink was brown and smelly. It generally smelled like rotten eggs in the whole hotel, dining area in particular. Breakfast was terrible and there were a lot of ants walking on the food displayed at the buffet table.

The hotel has a great potential and it looks amazingly pretty from the outside also the view is outstanding but it is definitely badly maintained. Just few simple touch ups to cover the holes would be great so there would be no insects. The experience was so awful that we decided to leave after one day. The staff were really trying to help with the problems and they even offered us a free taxi to our new hotel. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel because the view...
