Title: Idyllic Stay with Exceptional Service and Views
I’ve had a wonderful stay at Sunrise Villas, Ko Samet. The servicing of the bungalows is second to none. Even if you put the Do Not Disturb sign or choose not to have your room cleaned, the staff still leave two towels, two bottles of water, toilet paper, tea, coffee, shower gel, and other essentials on the veranda table every day. Most hotels wouldn’t provide these extras if you skip housekeeping, but here, it’s standard.
The daily supply of water has been particularly appreciated, especially with the fridge in the room. I haven’t had to buy any additional water for my entire six-night stay—a real convenience and money saver.
The breakfast, particularly the English breakfast, is exceptional for where we are and for the price. It’s well worth having and adds to the overall experience here.
The location is superb for me. It’s peaceful and away from the hustle, but just a 10-minute walk will take you to where everything’s happening. If you go in the other direction, you’ll find quiet little resorts and restaurants, perfect for a relaxed meal.
A note for potential guests: I’ve been staying on the far left-hand side as you look out to sea, which has been a 10/10 experience all the way. However, from previous reviews, it seems that staying closer to the pier on the far right-hand side may be a different experience due to the noise from the ferry boats.
The view has been absolutely breathtaking. Waking up each morning to that stunning seascape has been idyllic, and it’s something I’ll really miss. Part of the attraction of coming back is this incredible view. I know there are plenty of other islands to explore, but it’s hard to find an affordable villa, bungalow, or apartment like this, right on the sea. I’ve stayed further back from the water before, but never this close—it’s something special.
Would I stay here again? YES. In fact, I will come back for sure.
This place has been a haven of tranquillity and comfort, and I’m already dreading heading back home.

Read moreWe stayed in no.15. PROS: Lovely little bungalow, with outdoor area literally 10ft from the sea. Light & airy with great sea views thru huge glass doors. Ridiculously comfortable large double bed. Well equipped, good free wifi, excellent air-con & large built in wardrobe (which also had an ample fridge tucked away inside it), lovely bathroom, outside is a seating area under a porch with a large hammock, table & chairs & outdoor lighting, the sea laps at the edge of the seating area when the tide is in, at low tide it's a few feet down some easily scaled rocks. Spotlessly clean. Lovely staff, superb little restaurant where you can sit inches from the sea, even dangle your feet in if you like. Food was fabulous, SO fresh, superb seafood, very reasonably priced. Well located for all amenities. We stayed for nearly a week in mid January 2020. I'M DESPERATE TO GO BACK AGAIN. CONS: There is only 1 downside, & it isn't the fault of the hotel, it's that the pier where all the ferries, commercial supply boats etc come in is close by to the hotel & the boat captains are a bit heavy handed with the horn, which, being as they start about 5-6am is a bit noisy, but it didn't bother me that much - just my husband is a lighter slepper than I am, but he had noise-cancelling headphones anyway so he slept in them. Next time we'll ask for a bungalow as far from the pier as possible. I absolutely loved it here, a little slice of paradise. We were also delighted to find out that the guy who runs the bar at the next beach past Sunrise Villas has an arrangement with the owners of the bars & restaurants on the main beach on the other side of the island ( a few hundred yards away) & daily collects waste meat, seafood, fish etc & mices it up with vegetables & feeds the islands dog population. We saw him feeding them on the 1st day that we spent lounging about his beach bar & got talking, he's a really lovely guy, doing a wonderful thing, so obviously we had to frequent his beach bar as much...
Read moreWhen looking for somewhere to stay on Koh Samed I decided to base my decisions on other people comments. Using one of the larger OTAs, I actually noticed that many of the higher ratings had been earnt by simpler properties. In the past I have also found that many middle level Thai resorts have become very complacent with their pricing to quality ration, even during Covid times.||||The description for Sunrise Villas was straightforward and as it turns out, very accurate. We enjoyed a 3 night stay.||||The property is simple, reception is not much more than a cupboard and the pathway to the bungalows is a slight challenge with irregular steps and angles. However, this is part of the quirky charm of this place. Squeezed between a small road and the sea the villas are semi-detached, they are simple, quite small but well fitted out. You have a terrace, small bedroom, safe, fridge, kettle and good AC. The room is simple, functional and clean. The bathroom is the same, functional, reasonably sized and clean. It is the typical Thai wet floor bathroom, but I find these practical and easy to use. For me the large bonus was the bug screen on the balcony door so you can enjoy the sound of the sea without any mosquitos. ||||The table and 2 chairs on the terrace is a wonderful place to relax with a drink as the sun goes down or also for sunrise.||||The price we paid was great value for money and the room of better quality than many others. It is simple, yet the location is incredible.||||My only warning would be to anyone with a mobility issue as the pathways and steps are irregular and if you do have any difficulties walking, this may be challenging.||||Thank you to the staff of Sunrise Villas, we very much enjoyed our stay with you and will...
