It was a very decent place to stay at considering the high price (and my tight budget). Picture perfect beautiful scenery all around. The bungalows are literally at the edge of the rocks...and the swimming pool and garden scenery was just so cool. Our Bungalow was neat, clean - except some stained bedding and yellow towels. (On our first day we requested rooms to be cleaned, nothing happened, second day we didn't request and they came to do it without our knowing, even without knocking. Oh and, our bedding and towels weren't replaced or anything, just made neat). Toilet didn't flush properly as well.
The included breakfast (and restaurant music) was great and even the on-site restaurant and the menu was quite decent as well. The staff are friendly (They tried so hard to keep the customers happy during a storm as the rain poured into parts of the restaurant...and at one time a part of the ceiling fell in). We got 10% discount - for inconvenience i suppose.
There are nice beaches on both sides of the property- the one however has direct access and paved pathway to the beach and other restaurants. I recommend reaching this resort with a speed boat or ferry from Rayong and then just pay entrance fee (of the national park) at the pier and walk about 100metres to the resort. I also recommend hiring a scooter(motorbike) to get to - and from the resort to the other parts of the island. The resort has no official parking , so you gotta park it a distance away from the resort and then you gotta go through a gross, super stumbling pathway to actually reach the resort if you don't make use of the sea route.
I did however have a problem with the 24-hour service. According to the resort property, residents are too refrain from making noise late at night ( Bungalows are quite close together). Our neighbors were partying and making noise well after 11pm (there are other designated "chilling" areas). Obviously i couldn't sleep and walked throughout the property trying to look for management office to make my complaint...but found none. Their contact number was nowhere to be found in the room and when i found the one i found on the website, it wasn't available. It was quite a special holiday for me, but that last night's lack of sleep due to poor management kinda...

The resort is, as depicted in the photos, located on a peninsula right between two beaches. The location is the main reason to choose Vimarn Samed. While the hotel doesn't have direct beach access, you can snorkel from the rocks or walk one minute down to the beach. It was nice to be able to reach everything else within a few minutes but also be removed from the nighttime noise of the restaurants on the beach. Breakfast was pretty good, the staff was friendly, and the cleaning crew did a great job. Food at the restaurant is decent in terms of quality and price compared with neighboring resorts. Apart from rooms B 1-3 and 5-7, all rooms and villas actually have sea view - the garden view cottages are actually quite a good deal.
There were a few things that impacted our stay. First, the superior twin is inferior compared to the photo on their website, as it has only one window and is quite dark inside. It's good for sleeping and not much else. I would not have booked the room if I knew it would be so dark. The room in the photos is B8; B4 similarly has more windows. We were in B1 which, in addition to being dark, was also right over the kitchen. The "garden view" cottages also all have sea views and are a much better deal. Second, there was a distinct septic smell around the base of the building. And finally, the hotel needs some regular maintenance - for example, repair of the broken and missing boards in the wooden walkways, or fixing the cracks in the exterior doors. Because the AC and fan turn off as soon as you take the key card, the room had a really odd smell in it when we arrived and, on account of the strong septic smell outside, we couldn't open the (one, narrow) window to air it out. Also - the hotel only takes cash for food and drinks ordered on...
Read moreLooked great in the pictures but they must have been taken many years ago. We had a room with a sea view and balcony which could have been nice The balcony furniture was old, dirty, mismatched-not inviting at all. |The pillows were soft, which we like. Wifi worked ok. |Bathroom was old, the shower floor was like very course sandpaper and wall tiles were broken. |The landing outside could have been a little bigger to allow room for two people to stand and enter the room. |We arrived early ( bad timing) and the reception person seemed to take delight in telling us we had to wait two or three hours for our room to be ready. |The pool was out of service - it was as green!! Bad green!! The main reason we chose this hotel as it had a pool!|The beach towels were some strange fabric had left a queer dirty feeling on our hands. |By the way the ocean was full of rubbish, not the fault of the hotel, but worth knowing. |Breakfast was basic- eggs cold! Though I did get two hot ones when I asked!|Our evening meal which we had near the roped off pool was a lovely location on a deck overlooking the ocean. Our order was delivered with one dish wrong and one missing. Took an hour to replace the wrong dish and then told other wasnt available. We didn’t feel like ordering a replacement dish after that time. |The walk to the hotel was difficult up and down very steep paths. Probably about 400 meters. |Nice setting but that’s about all the positive...
