Not going there again. While the food is nice, though a bit expensive, the service and attitude of the staff let it down badly. The poor experience started when I arrived with my friend 7 minutes before their opening time and we were told to wait outside, we asked if we could come in and sit down and have a drink as we did have a reservation, and they said no, and we had to stand outside in light rain for 7 minutes. We sat upstairs which had a reasonably nice rustic old style look, but the attention to detail was lacking, an example of this would have been to glue felt to the bottom of the legs of the chairs to reduce noise. Sitting up stairs, there were about 8 people dining, never a server allocated to that space. Empty beer bottles sat a long time on the table. Finally, getting down the steep and dark stairs, I got knocked and nearlt fell because two on the kitchen staff were playing something in the kitchen and hit me through the curtain dividing off the kitchen. Effectively its nice food served by...

On the Michelin guide. Hells yeah. I’m Vietnamese and I know my Vietnamese food so you better believe that I was extremely excited about this place. Arrived at 1. They said they’re all booked up till 2:30. We reserved it anyway since it took us 40 mins through traffic to get here. Kinda odd though since it didn’t looked book up. 2pm they called us in due to a cancellation. Was ready for a good meal.

Food came out to be underwhelming to say the least. The pho bo had brisket, what? The spring rolls was bland. The banh xeo had the wrong sauce with it. The Vietnamese coffee was just a regular coffee; it didn’t have the buttery taste. Was disappointed all around.

The restaurant was practically empty when we were there which I’m assuming was because this place sucked even though it was on the Michelin guide. If you’re Vietnamese and craving for Vietnamese food, this is not the place. I will continue looking for it in Thailand.

The second star was only for having...

3/10 for me

  1. I used to taste many more delicious than this..
  2. Ordered 5 dishes, found only 1 delicious dish
  3. Costly with the amount of food in the dish, and very very small vegetable, if want more.. you have to pay.. But I didn't because just so so taste..
  4. Store Decoration tone is nice and suit to come with your beloved one, yet no private because small space so the table arrangement is close to and next to others, I found 2 gay couple beside non-stop talking very annoying
  5. I hate the way you cut vegetable in Nham Nueng... Lasy cutting long and thin, this make the dish tasteless, we need the juicy path to pop in our mouth, that's why Vietnam Nham Nueng is delicious. Also, the dried noodle style intended to make its thin so dont have to dip in water to get softer, make irritation to our throat, anyway my bf love this (even he isnt a big fan of Vietnamese food)..I'm not..it made you thristy.

One time experience is nice, but not really want to...

We came around 6 pm and were told that the place was nearly full from reservations but we could be squeezed in for an hour! No problem, so much to see in the area, no time to hang out in that small restaurant anyway. I could see that the receptionist was trying her best not to be bossy and that she just needed to have quick turn around with the tables, it is a business afterall. We had the second floor to ourselves but by the time we finished has about 3 other tables occupied. Sadly, the second floor has no view and therefore feels kind of claustrophobic. So we ordered Bun Cha and I got a chicken Pho. Oh it was served with little wait time! The food was hot and fresh. The flavours were authentic and I could taste every little detail. The serving size was generous and the price was so good. So happy we found this gem thanks to our grab driver. Would go again for sure. My first Michelin 2019 recommended restaurant during my first time in Bangkok!
