A pathetic hotel. I really don't know how it became a 3 star hotel. The only thing that's good is its location close to the electronics plaza(Pantip plaza) for cheap computer electronics and other malls like Platinum Fashion Mall and a 7-11 store is also attached to this hotel. (Free WiFi is a given for most 3 star hotels so not really a plus in this case) The hotel's restaurant menu mainly consists of Indian cuisine. Breakfast was not bad and consisted of Indian cuisine. [I got dal, potato curry, fried rice, fried noodles, vegetable soup, chicken sausage, toast, fruit juice (the synthetic type)] Food is not much of a problem for those who would want to try cheap thai and Chinese street food as there are many food stalls and restaurants in here like the xiangche food street(renamed). The hotel doesn't look bad from the photos. But it doesn't have very good hygiene, smells of cockroach excreta near the restaurant and reception. We(me and my travel companions) booked 2 rooms but one smelled bad, so much so that we had to change that room. I found cockroaches on my shirt on the bed when I returned from a tour of the city. The only reason I went there was because the travel agency booked it and I stayed there because I would only stay there for 2 days and nights. The hotel doesn't provide toothbrush, sanitary bags, laundry bags, cloth sandals, and bath soap like other 3 star hotels though it provides liquid body cleanser and shampoo. The bathroom door was defective and wouldn't lock or open properly without applying much strength. One of my travelling companions said that due to the defective AC, even though he set the desired temperature to 25 degree Celsius, he got a cold.(I am not sure about this one actually) The people who rated it 4 and 5 stars probably coincidentally happened to get good rooms and during a time in which the hotel staff coincidentally cleaned it. Unless the hotel gets rid of cockroaches and properly clean the hotel this hotel is going to decline in customer ratings. The hotel's very cheap so if someone were to require accommodation for a short time (and only eat outside of the hotel for those wanting to experience thai and Chinese)then it's fine. The keycard system on the doors should also be renewed. Not a recommended...
Read moreThe hotel management can do a much better job in relooking into how they can provide a better experience to customers, especially leveraging their good location. The hotel staff are visibly overworked and have little motivation to go the extra mile. Unfortunately, they were also abused by some guests who verbally abused them. It is evident that there is a lack of system in place to ensure good service and customer experience.
• The hotel's primary audience is business visitors bulk purchasing inventory. The hotel caters mainly to business visitors who buy wholesale items from Pratunam Market and Platinum Mall. For leisure tourists, the location is the only compelling reason to stay, as it is within walking distance of key shopping destinations. However, potential guests should anticipate significant trade-offs, including unhygienic rooms and challenging access for those driving.
• The rooms are unhygienic and poorly maintained. The room cleanliness and maintenance were substandard. Surfaces were sticky, and walking on wet tiles revealed visible dirt - Whenever I step on surfaces with wet feet, the tile turn greyish black. Dust balls and hair were found in corners, and fixtures such as faucets and showerheads were poorly secured. Additionally, the airconditioner may not work as well – my group is rather big and we had quite a number of rooms. The common issue was the airconditioner was not really cold, and mine made really loud noises at night until it broke down one night during my stay.
• Parking logistics create inconvenience for guests Driving to and from the hotel is highly inconvenient due to its location in a crowded area. Guests are required to hand over their car keys to the reception so staff can manage vehicle movement. In one instance, a 20-minute delay occurred because another guest failed to leave their car key, disrupting the schedule for the day. You can see the video I have shared to see how it is like driving through the narrow streets to reach the hotel, the video was taken in mid-afternoon where there are...
Read moreGrand Alpine is only grand by its name and not grand in its services . I usually never give any negative comments but this time this hotel definitely needs it. I had booked a superior room and paid in advance but the room which was assigned to me was smelly , full of moisture and it looked like some shady room and definitely not superior. I couldn't stand even for a second and requested to change my room or give me a refund. I appreciate the women that time at the reception to change my room . The staff is extremely rude. They don't have basic manners . One of the man at the reception even passed a racist comment on me . I requested for an extra key just for 30 mins for which I was asked to pay 300 Thai Bhat . And when I questioned that no hotels charges for extra key unless we have lost the key so the girl at the reception said you can sit in the dark but key will not be given for free even for 30 minutes. When I took this matter to the guy at the reception His statement was usually most of the Indians don't want to spend extra . I hope he knows that we Indians come to Thailand and spend lakhs on your country.
There is one Indian aged guy who is a support staff. He continuously chews paan ( tobacco) and once when he came to my room to open the door . He entered the room without asking me and went to my rooms washroom and spat the pan. How disgusting is this .I mean lower level staff even in budget hotels don't chew tobacco while interacting with the customers. Only 3rd class hotels may do this.
Grand Alpine hotel you really need to change your staff.
Only good thing about this hotel was the staff at their restaurant who were polite everytime.
I will not recommend this...
