Bangkok Sukhothai is the first Sukhothai, its status needless to say, Sukhothai - the capital of the Siam Dynasty, the hotel's LOGO is like an ancient pagoda. Sukhothai Bangkok was designed by Aman's royal designers Kerry Hill and Ed Tuttle. The exterior and interior were inspired by the ancient city of Sukhothai, creating a quiet place in the bustling city center. It opened in 1991, and it has been more than 30 years now. HSKP has been paying attention every day, and it is impossible to see that it has been so long.🌳The hotel is a real hermitage in the city, with lotus ponds everywhere, the backyard is very beautiful, green plants and benches are like a secret small park (but I forgot to visit), the swimming pool is open-air on the first floor, I don’t know what happened this time went.🛎Although I have stayed in many hotels, the service of Sukhothai in Bangkok still left a deep impression on me, which can be called the service benchmarkWhen I arrived, I was served with lemongrass-flavored cold towels and frozen bayberry juice. I was very refreshed and happy. I also gave towels twice after eating celadon at night; There are often 2 doorman reception at the door, sticking to the tradition and courtesy; The welcome fruit is given every day, especially the ginger chocolate bar, which is really delicious; The girl who took us to the room spoke English well, and she took off her shoes when entering the door (probably a custom in Thailand) and introduced the room in detail; The swimming pool renovation is not open yet, but it also gave us an alternative plan to open the shuttle bus to swim in other places; There is also a turndown, and the water is provided with a water bottle case, which is more ritualistic🛏The room and bathroom use a lot of mirrors, it looks brighter, the recliner in the room is very comfortable, and the slippers are also very distinctive, the dark blue is like a rhombus pair of silk and satin (the kind of Bangkok bag), the bottom is not thick but comfortable enough🛁PANPURI for spare parts, later I bought two bottles of aromatherapy at the airport, the airport staff told me in Thai Chinese: This is good, high-end hotel, high-end hotelThere is a bathtub and a washlet. The only problem is that the 2 faucets in the room are really laborious. The faucet of the basin is full of water when it is turned on. It is difficult for me to pull the handle of the shower. The shower is basically useless. .🍽The hotel restaurant celadon is also perfect in all aspects and deserves a better evaluation🥢The breakfast is rich and rich, although the place is not big, it has everything you need, a model of SLH!In addition to traditional coffee tea, Indian spiced tea coffee and Thai milk are also provided. I ordered Thai milk on the first day, and we all ordered it on the second day. My brother happily said that you all ordered today I feel so happyThere are 7 or 8 kinds of self-service cold drinks, as well as freshly squeezed juice and coconut juice, so you know that the cost will go up several steps; The hotel's homemade butter also provides salted and unsalted-many hotels can't even provide 2 kinds of outside butter, let alone homemade;I was really shocked when two flavors of yogurt and two sobet were released early in the morning; The bakery is super strong, with more than 10 types of bread, and the bread puddings given in two days are still delicious;Rich cheese, Middle Eastern hummus, cold cut meat, cheese curry, Japanese miso soup, etc., cater for all tastesIt is really a super satisfying breakfast, but the Chinese dim sum is estimated to be semi-finished products, so you can consider changing a supplier 🌈 🌈 🌈🏨The Sukhothai Bangkok📍Address: 13/3, 28/1-4 South Sathorn Road, ThungmahamekTransportation: About 7 minutes walk from the subwayThe above information is based on the experience of...

Stayed here for 1 night transitioning through Bangkok in February of 2023. Didn’t come away very impressed. The hotel is nice, but the service was strange at best for a 5-star hotel. We had a flight the next day, so I asked them arrange a taxi, the guy at the front desk refused and said they’d hail one, at checkout. I insisted, but got nowhere. At checkout the next morning I asked them to hail a taxi and the lady said I needed to arrange that when I checked in. Never had that experience at a 5 star hotel. We seemed to be the only guests without a reserved taxi checking out as they were lining up and constantly in and out. They said it was too hard to hail one, which I can attest is quite true. And nobody helped my wife and I at all that morning get to the airport. In the end I just walked the long entrance driveway with my baggage to the main road and managed to get a taxi myself after waiting a long while. Definitely not how you want to start a travel day, grumpy as hell and late to the airport. In addition, at checkin we arrived late and hungry from a long flight. The bellhop refused to take our bags up, but strangely followed us to our room without the bags showing us the room like he wanted a tip. I told him in the lobby we are in hurry, we’re hungry, and I’d just take my bags as their restaurant closes soon. But he insisted, plus I could not find them in the entrance so I guess they were moved? So we waited another 30 minutes from him to get our bags. Then to top it off the bellhop acted offended I didn’t tip him, and just stood in our room after delivering the bags 40 minutes after we checked in. He literally ruined our night, there’s no way I’ll tip for that service. And I’m the type to over tip, unless you seriously offended me. By that time their Thai restaurant that we asked about getting a reservation at checkin was closed unless we had a reservation. The staff there tried to get us in, but it was close to 10pm by then and the place was completely full. The guy at the desk at checkin told us to just walk in no reservation needed. So no dinner that night, as at that point we were too tired from traveling to find a place to eat, and I was frankly pretty upset and just wanted to go to sleep. I had researched the restaurant prior and was looking forward to dinner there. I should have made a reservation in hindsight well before we checked in, or one of us should have headed down there while the other waited for bags, as you could sense the bellhop was going to take his time with our bags. On the plus side the breakfast spread is nice, and what you expect. The rooms however are pretty small and just ok overall, especially for the price they were charging that night. Around $500. Maybe we got not such a great room? We did use a free Hyatt night, so that’s quite possible. I will say I was impressed with their maintenance guys, as after getting back to the room failing to have dinner the AC wasn’t working, which usually means you’ll have to change rooms in Southeast Asia, but they guy was there in 5 minutes, got up on a ladder and fixed it very efficiently. Complete pro. That was much appreciated at the point in our stay. We never got a chance to use the pool or checkout the grounds, but they looked nice in pictures before we booked. I had wanted to take a swim in the morning, but without a taxi arranged I was worried about getting to the airport on time. The last thing I’ll say is this seems to be a business hotel, rather than a traveler hotel. Most of the people at breakfast were dressed for business meetings, and they had Fortune 500 type business meetings in their meeting rooms. The bellhops are also dressed very strangely here, I’m not sure it’s...

After being unimpressed with Sukhothai’s reservations department before our stay I had quite low expectations for our stay but ended up positively surprised by the good service once we were at the hotel and equally impressed by the room. There is a lot of competition in the luxury segment in Bangkok but this is a hotel where I will definitely return and I can recommend it.

On the day of check-in, as soon as we stepped off the taxi they welcomed us by name despite the fact that it was our first stay at this hotel which was impressive and it set the right tone. We were escorted to the Club Lounge for check-in and subsequently escorted to our room by lounge staff and service was excellent all around.

To make matters even more positive, the reservation was for a Club King room but they upgraded us as GHA Black guests to a Club Premium Suite which I did not expect at all considering I had booked with a Megatix voucher and the reservations department informed us that elite loyalty benefits would not apply, despite the fact that there were no such exclusions listed in the terms and conditions of the vouchers so it felt like bait & switch.

The suite was very spacious at 98 square meters and the design was unique compared to any other suite we have had in Bangkok: hardwood floors throughout including wood panels on the walls as well, which blended with shiny black tables, the working desk, counter tops, and also the impressive huge rotating TV panel which allowed us to watch TV either from the living room or the dining room. The sound system was quite impressive as well, not only in the living room but also a large speaker under the night table by the bed side. There were other notable tech features in the room like the Toto washlets in both the main bathroom and the half bath which many luxury hotels in Bangkok don’t even have, or some do but only in the main bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, the design was futuristic with again a blend of wood with shiny black but also with mirrors and lights all around.

The furniture was high quality throughout and as a further sign of the luxury level of the suite we had a very fluffy La Bottega bathrobe along with bathroom amenities of the same brand, and most surprisingly a Dyson hairdryer. We were informed that only the suites have Dyson at Sukhothai but nonetheless it was only the second hotel in the city where we had a Dyson hairdryer, Rosewood being the only other one. Finally, I thought the hotel branded face mask was definitely a nice touch and one of the very few hotels in the city who currently hand those out besides 137 Pillars and The Siam.

Breakfast was entirely a la carte and served in the Club Lounge. We were impressed by the menu for example they had dishes such as egg truffle, avocado toast with caviar, Pad See Ew with prawns, etc. While the presentation of some dishes felt a bit “naked”, nonetheless the dishes were excellent and in my opinion this is probably one of the better a la carte breakfast menus I have seen in the city, not far behind Park Hyatt, Capella, Mandarin Oriental, and 137 Pillars.

Overall I walked in with a negative inclination but came out pleasantly surprised and we will return in the future for sure. The suite upgrade was competitive with the big hotel chains, the room itself was luxurious and stood out with attractive design, dining was excellent, and service at the hotel was polished; other than my unusual pre-arrival issues I had very little to complain about and I can readily...

Reasonable experience completely ruined by an extortionate phone call charge. There are lots of little things that annoyed me about my very expensive stay at the Sukothai but I was willing to overlook them and write a positive review. But not after the check out experience I just had. Our flights were changed and the only way to get in contact with the airline was to call their office line. Unfortunately we could not get through to the Bangkok number as it was a Sunday so we had to call the Malaysia number. We were charged TWO HUNDRED AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS (almost 5000 baht) for the call. I repeat TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS. That is the most EXTORTIONATE amount of money. In 2025?! I absolutely refuse to believe it cost that much. No where on the phone or hotel directory advised of charge rates either. I am absolutely disgusted and will never stay at the Sukothai again and will make sure to warn everyone I know away from it. When you are paying $400 AUD a night in Bangkok, where there are much cheaper and much better options, you'd expect a little bit of customer service, rather than a too bad, so sad attitude at check out. Other bad things about this $400 a night hotel: - If you're in the second building, be prepared for a loooooong walk to get anywhere. Didn't bother us but I know it would bother some people. It felt very second class citizen, with all the attention and activity being focused around the building near the pool. - The shower water is disgusting. There is a sewer smell which I can only describe as smelling like human faeces when you use the shower. I had to spray my hair liberally with a product with a strong scent so I didn't go to bed smelling like a sewer each night. - The coffee is terrible. It is instant coffee made in an instant coffee machine!! The machine is semi hidden but we watched them make it. Once again, a four hundred dollar a night hotel where the coffee is INSTANT. We got barista made coffee at the $150 a night hotel we stayed in before the Sukothai. - The Asian/Thai selection at breakfast is woeful. Once again, better soup and curries at the cheaper hotel. - Did you know this is a smoking hotel? I certainly didn't when I booked. Smoking areas and ashtrays everywhere. It's 2025, do better, why are you prioritising a minority of guests who disturb everyone else with the smell when you're trying to relax by the pool? - We tried twice to go to gym classes during the day and despite having a schedule, both times the instructor was "unavailable" for that particular class. So at that point the schedule isn't worth the money it's printed on. Despite all the hotel's failings, thank you personally to the amazing and tireless Bank at the pool (does he ever get a break?! The poor man seemed to be there 10+ hours a day). Thanks to the lovely Bam and Trippy at the front desk, thank you to the very friendly and efficient Fonk at breakfast and thank you to the lovely Bim at the gym, as well as the other gym staff. You and the rest of the staff work so hard. I hope management appreciates it.

Words cannot describe the out-of-this-world experience at the buffet! It’s actually in two different rooms so you can discover desserts and cheese in the other room. & Let’s talk about the world of cheese. Master Chef Frederic gave us a personal tour & his knowledge of cheese combined with his great personality was so exhilarating! Honestly, I don’t have a lot of cheese knowledge, but after five minutes with Chef Frederic— maybe I can teach a course! Welcome to the world of cheese. And, so refreshing to always see K. Ploy, a wonderful lady who told us about the platinum package. She is always so friendly and I hope she works here forever! The pastries are very diverse. You have one that is from an average bakery in France to vanilla ice cream with the best vanilla from Chiang Mai. & the chef from Lebua was there, along with another restaurant owner. Chef Frederic talked about the evolution of his career, trying to be super creative and fancy, to going back to the basics and just giving the people what they want. For example, the flan was really good. My hat is off to Chef Frederic—any buffet can have good food, but elevating your culinary knowledge from a friendly, great sense of humor World class Master Chef is a whole ‘nother level. They had sashimi, crab, prawns, stewed fish, sushi, different types of meat, honesty. I can’t even list them all here. The ice sculptures were really works of art & I wanted to take One home 😂 Also, K. Pim had superb service. The interior is very nice. There is live music. The seats are very comfortable. It was quite quiet with very well mannered customers which made it very peaceful. I can be a bit picky, but couldn’t find any bad parts whatsoever. It was like rainbows and butterflies. I highly recommend this buffet. It might be a bit pricey, but is totally worth it and it’s important in life to treat yourself to the best. I can tell you that there were definitely things that we weren’t even able to try which means we have to go back next time and it’s really great like reading a good book that leaves you wanting more. There was a new dessert item that was special to the chef’s heart and it was really really good. I won’t tell you what it is, but you’ll have to figure it out and try it! If you walk in the door, everything your heart desires will come true!

We had a memorable stay at The Sukhothai Bangkok, and I’d like to share a few highlights and suggestions from our experience. 1. The swimming pool was a true highlight – serene, elegant, and beautifully maintained. However, I strongly hope the hotel can take better measures against mosquitoes. The number of mosquitoes was overwhelming, which distracted from an otherwise perfect poolside experience. It would also be wonderful if the pool hours could be extended later into the evening. The tranquil atmosphere at night would make for a magical swim. 2. Our room (240) was cleaned by a staff member named Korn, and I must say, I have never seen such an impeccable level of housekeeping anywhere in the world. Every corner of the room was perfectly arranged. Beyond his skill, what truly touched me was his warm smile – one of the most beautiful and genuine expressions I’ve ever seen from anyone in Thailand. I found it a bit heartbreaking that such a person is not in a guest-facing role. His English was limited, but I sincerely hope the hotel invests in language training for him so that he can take on a concierge or guest service position in the future. He truly deserves it. 3. Dining at La Scala was an unforgettable experience. Chef Andrea amazed us with his brilliant creations, and we were completely charmed by his presence and the way he presents his cuisine. It’s no exaggeration to say that we’ll return to this hotel primarily to dine with him again. 4. Breakfast was a mixed experience. The fruit section was outstanding – fresh, diverse, and beautifully arranged. However, the omelet station needs improvement; the inside of my omelet was undercooked, and that was disappointing. The coffee was overly bitter – I would strongly suggest reconsidering the beans used. On the bright side, I was deeply moved by a staff member named “Fonk.” he noticed that I returned to my table with yogurt but forgot a spoon, and brought one to me without being asked. That small gesture made a big impression – a perfect example of world-class service. 5. Be aware of the traffic around the hotel. It’s truly severe – it once took us over 10 minutes to move just 100 meters by taxi. Allow extra time for transfers, especially during peak hours
