Bangkok Sukhothai is the first Sukhothai, its status needless to say, Sukhothai - the capital of the Siam Dynasty, the hotel's LOGO is like an ancient pagoda. Sukhothai Bangkok was designed by Aman's royal designers Kerry Hill and Ed Tuttle. The exterior and interior were inspired by the ancient city of Sukhothai, creating a quiet place in the bustling city center. It opened in 1991, and it has been more than 30 years now. HSKP has been paying attention every day, and it is impossible to see that it has been so long.🌳The hotel is a real hermitage in the city, with lotus ponds everywhere, the backyard is very beautiful, green plants and benches are like a secret small park (but I forgot to visit), the swimming pool is open-air on the first floor, I don’t know what happened this time went.🛎Although I have stayed in many hotels, the service of Sukhothai in Bangkok still left a deep impression on me, which can be called the service benchmarkWhen I arrived, I was served with lemongrass-flavored cold towels and frozen bayberry juice. I was very refreshed and happy. I also gave towels twice after eating celadon at night; There are often 2 doorman reception at the door, sticking to the tradition and courtesy; The welcome fruit is given every day, especially the ginger chocolate bar, which is really delicious; The girl who took us to the room spoke English well, and she took off her shoes when entering the door (probably a custom in Thailand) and introduced the room in detail; The swimming pool renovation is not open yet, but it also gave us an alternative plan to open the shuttle bus to swim in other places; There is also a turndown, and the water is provided with a water bottle case, which is more ritualistic🛏The room and bathroom use a lot of mirrors, it looks brighter, the recliner in the room is very comfortable, and the slippers are also very distinctive, the dark blue is like a rhombus pair of silk and satin (the kind of Bangkok bag), the bottom is not thick but comfortable enough🛁PANPURI for spare parts, later I bought two bottles of aromatherapy at the airport, the airport staff told me in Thai Chinese: This is good, high-end hotel, high-end hotelThere is a bathtub and a washlet. The only problem is that the 2 faucets in the room are really laborious. The faucet of the basin is full of water when it is turned on. It is difficult for me to pull the handle of the shower. The shower is basically useless. .🍽The hotel restaurant celadon is also perfect in all aspects and deserves a better evaluation🥢The breakfast is rich and rich, although the place is not big, it has everything you need, a model of SLH!In addition to traditional coffee tea, Indian spiced tea coffee and Thai milk are also provided. I ordered Thai milk on the first day, and we all ordered it on the second day. My brother happily said that you all ordered today I feel so happyThere are 7 or 8 kinds of self-service cold drinks, as well as freshly squeezed juice and coconut juice, so you know that the cost will go up several steps; The hotel's homemade butter also provides salted and unsalted-many hotels can't even provide 2 kinds of outside butter, let alone homemade;I was really shocked when two flavors of yogurt and two sobet were released early in the morning; The bakery is super strong, with more than 10 types of bread, and the bread puddings given in two days are still delicious;Rich cheese, Middle Eastern hummus, cold cut meat, cheese curry, Japanese miso soup, etc., cater for all tastesIt is really a super satisfying breakfast, but the Chinese dim sum is estimated to be semi-finished products, so you can consider changing a supplier 🌈 🌈 🌈🏨The Sukhothai Bangkok📍Address: 13/3, 28/1-4 South Sathorn Road, ThungmahamekTransportation: About 7 minutes walk from the subwayThe above information is based on the experience of...
Read moreStayed here for 1 night transitioning through Bangkok in February of 2023. Didn’t come away very impressed. The hotel is nice, but the service was strange at best for a 5-star hotel. We had a flight the next day, so I asked them arrange a taxi, the guy at the front desk refused and said they’d hail one, at checkout. I insisted, but got nowhere. At checkout the next morning I asked them to hail a taxi and the lady said I needed to arrange that when I checked in. Never had that experience at a 5 star hotel. We seemed to be the only guests without a reserved taxi checking out as they were lining up and constantly in and out. They said it was too hard to hail one, which I can attest is quite true. And nobody helped my wife and I at all that morning get to the airport. In the end I just walked the long entrance driveway with my baggage to the main road and managed to get a taxi myself after waiting a long while. Definitely not how you want to start a travel day, grumpy as hell and late to the airport. In addition, at checkin we arrived late and hungry from a long flight. The bellhop refused to take our bags up, but strangely followed us to our room without the bags showing us the room like he wanted a tip. I told him in the lobby we are in hurry, we’re hungry, and I’d just take my bags as their restaurant closes soon. But he insisted, plus I could not find them in the entrance so I guess they were moved? So we waited another 30 minutes from him to get our bags. Then to top it off the bellhop acted offended I didn’t tip him, and just stood in our room after delivering the bags 40 minutes after we checked in. He literally ruined our night, there’s no way I’ll tip for that service. And I’m the type to over tip, unless you seriously offended me. By that time their Thai restaurant that we asked about getting a reservation at checkin was closed unless we had a reservation. The staff there tried to get us in, but it was close to 10pm by then and the place was completely full. The guy at the desk at checkin told us to just walk in no reservation needed. So no dinner that night, as at that point we were too tired from traveling to find a place to eat, and I was frankly pretty upset and just wanted to go to sleep. I had researched the restaurant prior and was looking forward to dinner there. I should have made a reservation in hindsight well before we checked in, or one of us should have headed down there while the other waited for bags, as you could sense the bellhop was going to take his time with our bags. On the plus side the breakfast spread is nice, and what you expect. The rooms however are pretty small and just ok overall, especially for the price they were charging that night. Around $500. Maybe we got not such a great room? We did use a free Hyatt night, so that’s quite possible. I will say I was impressed with their maintenance guys, as after getting back to the room failing to have dinner the AC wasn’t working, which usually means you’ll have to change rooms in Southeast Asia, but they guy was there in 5 minutes, got up on a ladder and fixed it very efficiently. Complete pro. That was much appreciated at the point in our stay. We never got a chance to use the pool or checkout the grounds, but they looked nice in pictures before we booked. I had wanted to take a swim in the morning, but without a taxi arranged I was worried about getting to the airport on time. The last thing I’ll say is this seems to be a business hotel, rather than a traveler hotel. Most of the people at breakfast were dressed for business meetings, and they had Fortune 500 type business meetings in their meeting rooms. The bellhops are also dressed very strangely here, I’m not sure it’s...
Read moreAfter being unimpressed with Sukhothai’s reservations department before our stay I had quite low expectations for our stay but ended up positively surprised by the good service once we were at the hotel and equally impressed by the room. There is a lot of competition in the luxury segment in Bangkok but this is a hotel where I will definitely return and I can recommend it.
On the day of check-in, as soon as we stepped off the taxi they welcomed us by name despite the fact that it was our first stay at this hotel which was impressive and it set the right tone. We were escorted to the Club Lounge for check-in and subsequently escorted to our room by lounge staff and service was excellent all around.
To make matters even more positive, the reservation was for a Club King room but they upgraded us as GHA Black guests to a Club Premium Suite which I did not expect at all considering I had booked with a Megatix voucher and the reservations department informed us that elite loyalty benefits would not apply, despite the fact that there were no such exclusions listed in the terms and conditions of the vouchers so it felt like bait & switch.
The suite was very spacious at 98 square meters and the design was unique compared to any other suite we have had in Bangkok: hardwood floors throughout including wood panels on the walls as well, which blended with shiny black tables, the working desk, counter tops, and also the impressive huge rotating TV panel which allowed us to watch TV either from the living room or the dining room. The sound system was quite impressive as well, not only in the living room but also a large speaker under the night table by the bed side. There were other notable tech features in the room like the Toto washlets in both the main bathroom and the half bath which many luxury hotels in Bangkok don’t even have, or some do but only in the main bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, the design was futuristic with again a blend of wood with shiny black but also with mirrors and lights all around.
The furniture was high quality throughout and as a further sign of the luxury level of the suite we had a very fluffy La Bottega bathrobe along with bathroom amenities of the same brand, and most surprisingly a Dyson hairdryer. We were informed that only the suites have Dyson at Sukhothai but nonetheless it was only the second hotel in the city where we had a Dyson hairdryer, Rosewood being the only other one. Finally, I thought the hotel branded face mask was definitely a nice touch and one of the very few hotels in the city who currently hand those out besides 137 Pillars and The Siam.
Breakfast was entirely a la carte and served in the Club Lounge. We were impressed by the menu for example they had dishes such as egg truffle, avocado toast with caviar, Pad See Ew with prawns, etc. While the presentation of some dishes felt a bit “naked”, nonetheless the dishes were excellent and in my opinion this is probably one of the better a la carte breakfast menus I have seen in the city, not far behind Park Hyatt, Capella, Mandarin Oriental, and 137 Pillars.
Overall I walked in with a negative inclination but came out pleasantly surprised and we will return in the future for sure. The suite upgrade was competitive with the big hotel chains, the room itself was luxurious and stood out with attractive design, dining was excellent, and service at the hotel was polished; other than my unusual pre-arrival issues I had very little to complain about and I can readily...
