Mixed review, but overall too pricy hostel for the quality of the service. Having a good location and a cute decoration isn’t enough. Pros and cons below :Pros :- Amazing location in the heart of the Medina ideally located- Cute hostel with beautiful tiles- Kind and helpful staffCons :- The room we booked in advance was not available when we arrived. Instead of a double bed room, we were put in a bunk beds room with no explication or apologies. No solution, accommodations or compensation were offered to us afterwards. Very poor service from the hotel on that side and I saw online afterwards it’s not the first time they’re doing that- Noisy hostel with no soundproof rooms at all. All the rooms are close to each other and open to the dining area with the breakfast starting at 7:30am and people coming back very late at night. Earplugs very much needed- Average breakfast, the quality of the products is poor knowing what is available in the area. Be careful with water as some plastic bottles for breakfast are filled with tap water- Be aware you’ll have to walk at least 5min in little paved streets after taking off your taxi and finding a taxi to leave the area won’t be...

Spent 3 nights at this ‘hostel’ within the Medina. Breakfast was included, with a decent selection of a few pastries, fruit, vegetables, and of course, coffee, tea, and juice.

Beds were comfortable. The fan wasn’t working but the staff provided me with another fan. It is a Dar in the Medina so don’t expect natural sunlight, as rooms peek out into the common area / ‘courtyard’ (unless there are a few rooms with windows facing outside).

I think I lucked out with the WiFi, having a room on the ground floor, and being able to use it from the comfort of my room. On the other hand, this meant guests were using the WiFi in the common area and their sounds and noises carry into the room.

Other than the communal bathrooms, it didn’t feel like a hostel because it looks like all the rooms are private. Towels weren’t included but they are available for purchase at reception. As for reception, staff was great in providing recommendations for food, directions, and even a barbershop where I got a pretty decent cut.

Overall, would recommend to travellers on a budget and looking to stay in close proximity...

The Hotel Dar Ya is an exquisite blend of elegance and hospitality. The stunning architecture captivates from the moment you arrive, complemented by a team of highly skilled professionals who go above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. The rooms are a visual delight, exuding charm and comfort in every detail.

Conveniently located in close proximity to the Zaytouna Mosque and the bustling market, the hotel's prime location facilitates easy exploration of the vibrant surroundings. What sets this establishment apart is its 24/7 accessibility, allowing guests the freedom to immerse themselves in the city's allure at any time.

A particularly delightful aspect of our stay was encountering Youssef, whose warmth and friendliness mirrored the exceptional service provided by the entire staff. The genuine hospitality extended to us made our visit truly special. It's safe to say that our experience at Hotel Dar Ya was nothing short of delightful, and we look forward to returning with great...

WARNING!! THE OWNERS USE THE GOOD LOCATION OF THE PROPERTY AS BAIT, AND THEN TRANSFER YOU TO OTHER HOTEL OUTSIDE THE MEDINA. When I got to the hotel they told me my room (which I booked two months in advance) was not available, and that I could stay at other of their properties. I had no option but to accept it, since all other hotels were fully booked. I was transferred to another property of the same owner in a super dodgy area. They did the same to two other groups of tourists while I was in the hotel lobby. I ended up wasting almost three hours with the transfer, and I had to take taxis everywhere. They ruined my short visit to tunis

It was in a great location in Medina of Tunis (the old part of the city) with lovely staff. Imagine you sleep in a building aged over 100 years. The man named Yousef was very kind and helpful. He helped us on the way to the main street. The hostel has got a kitchen. You can heat your food. I liked the taste of strawberry in the breakfast. There was milk but I wish there were some cheese for breakfast. I really recommend to book this hostel.

One of the best places I've ever been! The treat from the staff was excellent from the first minute. We stayed for four nights in a double room and we found a Hostel very comfortable, clean, and a wonderful treatment by the whole team. The breakfast was more than delicious and abundant, the house is a hidden gem located very central in the Medina. We enjoyed so much staying here and for sure we will come back!
