I came here simply for the spa and restaurant, which I recommend for those not already staying here. It has a gorgeous, calm, carefully decorated interior that you would never be able to guess existed from the street!
My spa treatment was so-so, however. They're not especially responsive over email, so I went there in person to book an appointment for the next day. Multiple times both over email and face to face I requested the seaweed hammam, but I guess this was lost with the language barrier and I was given the regular hammam, which I only realised when paying at the end. Thinking it was the seaweed hammam I was highly disappointed of course, but realising it was their most basic offering it matched up much better. However, I live in Morocco and have many hamman experiences to compare this to and while it was nice (the post-scrub down clean feeling is unmatched!), it was definitely not the best ever. Firstly, I was not given disposable underwear to use, which I found odd for such a nice spa. You are briefly showered, black soap rubbed on, then brought in the hamman to sit for 30 mins (with no music). It unfortunately wasn't nearly steamy / warm enough in there, so my skin wasn't properly prepped for the scrub as I hadn't been sweating. This made the scrub down a tad painful at times, though the massuese checked in with me throughout. The room and water they use in the scrubbing room could have been warmer as well. After they rinse and soap you up once more with a bit of a massage, you then shower yourself (no conditioner provided) and are done. You are given a bath robe and taken to a rest area with fruit, tea, and other little snacks and drinks, which I found to be really nice, and you're welcome to take as much time as you like there, which I appreciated. The changing room is basic though, with no comb, lotion, hair dryer, or anything like that provided. Was it worth 100 TD? For first time hammam users who want a private experience, absolutely - but I'd opt for a better package to get more bang for your buck actually.
As for the rooftop restaurant - stunning views over Tunis, but lots of shade provided, nice tapas offered at the start, good menu (more so for dinner than lunch though I'd say), friendly service, prices aren't astronomical given the location... very much...
Read moreAs someone who has experienced many hammams and massages in different parts of the world, I consider myself quite knowledgeable when it comes to distinguishing between good and bad spa experiences.
The spa is located in the old city, surrounded by the charm of historical sites and cultural coffee shops—a truly beautiful and atmospheric setting.
I chose a package that included a hammam and a massage for a total of 230 dinars. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not meet my expectations, and I would not return for these services.
The hammam process was very brief and felt rushed. The lady performing it was not professional—she didn’t even wash my hair, and the entire session lacked care and attention to detail. As for the massage, it was just okay—nothing special or memorable.
That said, I truly enjoyed the ambiance of the place itself. It’s very luxurious and...
Read moreThe hotel is very nice, very well located. My husband and i used to go there every once in a while, especially for the spa which we found very good in every aspect Until the day where we booked a spa (hammam+massage for both of us), we weren’t staying at the hotel and we got stuck in the traffic and were 20 min late. The personnel refused to admit us, suggested that we’d go for scrubbing in the hammam directly without time in the sauna (for the same price) and then for the massage, that we’d do it separately. Hammam without sauna not being the same at all, i tried to convince her tht 20 min wasn’t that late but they wouldn’t admit us. We were there for relaxation for god’s sake, 20 min more or less wouldn’t have made a big difference We actually went back home ! I will never go back there, what i had experienced was disrespectful in every way, my whole...
